Hi my friend,
This is one of my favorite meditations,
A walking meditation.
So take your sweet time if you haven't already,
Put on your shoes,
Jacket maybe,
Whatever you need.
Step outside and right away feel the gift of getting to go on a walk,
Thanking your body for holding you,
Thanking your body for its ability to move in this way,
Lifting your chin up to the sky,
Looking around,
Receive a deep breath in,
Big exhale let it go.
Nature can hold whatever you are feeling,
So really release all that is not serving you into the ground.
Release any stagnant energy through your exhale,
Inhale,
Exhale,
Finding a rhythm,
Finding maybe a little pep in your step,
Or maybe walk slower,
Let there be ease here,
Softening your shoulders down,
Relaxing your jaw,
Breathe into the pace of your walking,
Follow the texture beneath your feet,
Or the sound of your feet hitting the earth,
The ground beneath you.
Every step you take here is proof that you are making it through,
And that time is passing.
May you slow down and enjoy,
Breathe in the fresh air,
Exhale,
Really take in the surroundings,
Notice the colors,
Without any judgment noticing the weather outside of you,
Using this as an opportunity to practice not letting the external world impact our internal world.
So it's not good or bad,
It just is.
Starting to feel this energetic shift within you,
As you move here you are soothing your nervous system,
And maybe some endorphins are starting to flow through you,
Can you begin to let the light in,
Maybe you feel that light radiating from your heart,
Feeling this sense of joy and gratitude.
You are a living,
Breathing human,
What a gift it is to be here,
Feeling grateful for where you get to walk and explore,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Feel your heart lift a little more,
Your shoulders drop.
When was the last time you really focused on all that is going well?
Often our mind attaches to what is going wrong,
We ruminate on what isn't going well.
As you feel your energy shift on this walk here,
Can you allow the light to pour in,
Focus on the good,
And the good will grow.
Just breathe around that,
And carry it with you,
Step after step,
In breath,
Out breath.
Listen to these words by Morgan Harper Nichols,
Trust that the future can still be beautiful,
Even if it looks different than what you are expecting.
Trust that even here,
More is unfolding beyond what you have been able to see,
Even when things have changed.
Years from now,
You won't remember every conversation,
Every thought,
Or everything you accomplished,
But I hope you remember the times you bravely chose to love.
I hope you remember that when times were hard,
You found courage to not give up.
I hope you don't just remember the people who left,
But the ones who stuck around.
I hope you remember that even after the longest nights,
Morning light always found you.
I hope you always remember that all along,
Through everything that was changing,
You were changing too.
So if you have to say goodbye to something or someone,
I hope you can trust that you will in time,
You will be okay.
Not perfect,
But okay.
And years down the line,
Life will be different and still beautiful.
You will be whole.
Trust that the light will always find you.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Noticing what's coming up for you.
What's shifting in your heart and mind.
This walking meditation allows you to walk toward you.
What is it that you have been waiting to hear?
Say it to yourself now.
Breathe out.
Feel how your energy has shifted.
Feel how your body has shifted.
Carry this practice with you.
Taking your sweet time to walk back to where you came from.
Maybe if you still have time,
Turning on some instrumental music or just listening to nature.
Continuing to let the light in.
Finding joy and gratitude in every step.
What a gift it is to breathe with you.
To meditate with you.
Thank you for sharing this space with me.
One more breath in.
One more breath out.
Exhale.
From my heart to yours.
