The nervous system has a useful characteristic: it does not always distinguish between what is vividly imagined and what is physically experienced. A place pictured in full sensory detail, with its sounds and temperature and textures, can produce many of the same calming effects as being there. This practice uses that directly. In this practice, Eileen Rose Miles guides you to bring a place to mind that feels completely safe and free from demands, then to inhabit it through the senses: what is beneath your feet, what you see, the warmth or the breeze, the sounds nearby and far away, what your hand would touch. The session closes with a reminder that you can carry the felt sense of this place with you after the practice ends.
