To begin this meditation,

I'd like you to get seated in a comfortable position You can sit with your legs crossed but make sure your spine is able to be straight If that's difficult,

Then sit with your legs firmly planted on the floor and lengthen your spine Make sure your spine is straight That's very important Once you're there,

Roll your shoulders back Open up the chest Lengthen your neck Whenever you're ready,

You can close your eyes to tune inwards Now,

Let's consciously breathe for a couple minutes to find our focus to really become aware of this present experience right now So take a deep breath in and exhale out of your mouth Deep breath in,

Expand the chest and sink into your seat Exhale,

Deep breath in Exhale,

Release all tension and stress Just sink into your seat Now,

Breathe through the nose.

Inhale through the nose and exhale through the nose Inhale and exhale Inhale and exhale With every breath,

Relax the body You inhale,

Expand the torso When you exhale,

Allow yourself to sink into your seat loosening up all muscles Breathe in,

Expand the body and exhale Sink into your seat,

Loosen up the body Relax your face,

Relax your eyes,

Lips,

Jaw Relax the shoulders,

Trot the shoulders Relax the arms Relax the legs Let go of all tension When you let go of tension in the body you let go of stress in the mind So let go of tension to let go of stress Breathe in Breathe out Relax Breathe in Breathe out Relax Breathe in Breathe out Relax Breathe in to the abdomen slowly Breathe out completely and slowly Breathe in to the abdomen Breathe out Breathe in Breathe in Breathe out One more time,

Deep breath in and deep breath out Deep breath out You're doing really well so far Now,

We're going to do some visualizing as a way to connect to energy I invite you to bring all of your focus now to the crown of your head,

The very tip of your head This is where you're going to open up to receive Feel an opening at the top of your head Imagine an opening Remember,

There is no right or wrong way to do this Your imagination is unique to you So whatever's coming up right now is perfect Trust what is coming up You don't have to force anything You don't have to try for anything to happen Just let it happen as it wants to With this opening at the top of your head you're now going to receive masculine energy Shiva energy This is the force that we associate with the sun the sky higher sources There's a sense of stillness with this energetic force A sense of silence and stillness and firmness So imagine this energy above you See the sky above you and the sun See the light shining from above Now as you breathe in,

Receive this light Allow the sunlight to flow down and into your head down,

Down,

Down,

Reaching your heart Allow sun energy to flow down and fill you up See the sun ray Shiva energy This white golden light penetrating your body moving towards the heart You're receiving this energy and allowing it to settle in your heart centre Breathe in the light and exhale,

Let it settle in your heart centre Breathe in Receive the light and let it settle in your heart centre Breathe in and let it settle in your heart centre Continue to do this for a couple more moments Continue to visualize this beautiful light filling you up You're receiving Shiva energy sun energy Enjoy the stillness Enjoy the light Enjoy the silence Amazing job You're doing really well Now I invite you to bring all of your awareness and focus down to where you're seated where you're connected to the surface below you The root of your spine where your tailbone is and here,

Where your head is where your tailbone is and here,

You're again going to open up to receive energy from below You're receiving feminine energy Shakti energy This grounded,

Fluid energy from Mother Earth We're going to reach down down,

Down,

Down into the ground,

The earth to receive energy from Mother Nature Mother Earth Imagine the ground below you now You can imagine the soil,

The dirt the colour brown,

All the roots beneath the surface of the earth Go into the earth and examine what is below us Go down,

Down,

Down and tap into Shakti Down,

Down,

Down into the earth Now,

As you breathe in extract this energy from below and bring it up through the spine and receive it in your heart centre Breathe in,

Pull the energy upwards Receive this energy Let it settle in your heart centre Breathe in Breathe in,

Pulling Shakti energy upwards along the spine Exhale,

Let it settle in your heart centre Breathe in,

Receive feminine energy Moon energy Let it settle in your heart centre Breathe in and exhale You are receiving feminine Shakti energy Energy that we associate with darkness with the moon with creativity and movement Receive from mother earth Do this for a couple of moments and just enjoy this energetic force Well done Well done Well done Now that we've called upon the sun and the moon the masculine and the feminine Shiva and Shakti the sky and the earth Let's enjoy a sense of balance in our heart centre where they meet Bring all of your focus and awareness to your heart centre The middle of your chest There's absolutely nothing you need to do when you're here Just relax and observe Feel the subtle vibrations in the middle of your chest as you breathe in and out Breathe in slowly Observe the heart and breathe out Feel the heart and out and out Masculine energy and feminine energy are simply opposite forces flip sides of the same coin They're polarities that have to exist alongside each other One isn't better than the other Masculine energy is often expressed as rational reasoning action control and in our current patriarchal society we value this more than the feminine But this creates a sense of lopsidedness discomfort and imbalance We need the other side just as much to feel at peace and the other side,

The feminine is often expressed as creativity fluidity non-action The feminine balances the masculine and it's just as important We need both aspects to feel at peace in our beingness To honour your masculine and feminine equally as you focus on your heart centre our true centre where Shiva and Shakti meet Feel a sense of peace love,

To conclude this meditation let's take 3 deep breaths together with exhales out of the mouth With each breath,

Bring yourself back into full awakened consciousness and come back into your space Breathe in and out Breathe in and out One more time,

Breathe in and exhale Bring yourself back into your space Whenever you're ready,

Beautiful meditation with easy to follow instructions, but one which I found quite challenging nevertheless.
