Our minds become busy as we focus on all of the things needed to prepare for the birth of the life source growing inside of us. To calm that busy mind, counting backward is a great tool to center the mind and the breath. This meditation offers a breath exercise that allows one to focus and calm the busy mind.

Hello,

This meditation is designed to help increase focus during busy times on this pregnancy journey.

Are you finding yourself struggling to focus during these busy times?

Pregnancy is a journey and everyone's journey is different.

This guided meditation will help you pause,

Reset,

And reconnect with your breath during busy times.

Come to a comfortable seat.

Maybe you begin to cross the legs.

If you're near a wall,

A couch,

Or a bed,

I invite you to use these things to prop up your back.

Maybe you engage a pillow.

Begin to get settled.

I invite you to soften the gaze in this present moment.

Maybe you choose to close the eyes.

Maybe you keep the eyes open,

But try to find something around you to focus on.

Begin to breathe.

Notice your breath patterns in this present moment.

Maybe you notice the chest rise as you inhale and fall as you exhale.

There is a life force growing inside of you.

Begin to connect with that life force.

Begin to draw your attention to your expanding belly.

If your mind is busy running through all of the things that needs to happen and prepare for the birth of that life,

Let's just pause for a moment to breathe.

For this meditation,

Let's begin to count backwards and forward.

As you inhale,

Let's count from 5,

4,

3,

2,

1.

As you exhale,

Just release.

As you inhale,

Count from 5,

4,

3,

2,

1.

As you exhale,

Slowly release the breath with control.

As you inhale,

Count from 5,

4,

3,

2,

1.

As you exhale,

Just release the breath.

Let's do that again.

Inhale for 5,

4,

3,

2,

1.

As you exhale,

Just release.

Again,

Begin to count backwards in your mind.

If 5 does not serve you,

Pick a number to start from that serves your breath in this present moment.

Counting backwards increases our concentration and focuses our distracted mind.

Continue to count backwards.

Continue to inhale for whatever count that you choose and continue to slowly release the breath with control.

Let's do that one last time.

As you begin to regulate your breath,

Notice if you begin to feel calmer.

Notice what is happening to your body in this present moment.

Are you softening your jaw,

Releasing the shoulders and neck?

Continue to count backwards in your mind as you inhale and slowly exhale the breath through the nose.

As you continue on through your day and if you find there are times where your mind is getting busy again,

Where you're getting overwhelmed by all of the things that are going on to your changing body,

To the list of things that you have to do,

Take this with you.

Know that counting backwards helps increase your focus.

As you continue on through the day,

Always find moments to pause and to breathe.
