Meridian Meditation: Pericardium & Triple Burner Balance
The aim of this meditation is to bring balance to the flow of energy through the Pericardium & Triple Burner (San Jiao) meridian lines. Using philosophy from TCM and Neuro Emotional Technique by restoring the flow of energy this meditation helps clear emotionally charged energy to help support the heart and all other meridian lines
Transcript
The intention of this meditation is to bring balance to the flow of energy through the pericardium and triple burn and meridian lines.
Supporting the heart,
Supporting our mind,
Bringing ease to the turbulence of life.
So make yourself comfortable.
Maybe you're lying down or sitting supported in an upright position.
However you are,
Be in a way where your spine feels long and without restriction.
Then slowly scan through your body and notice how it is feeling today.
Where are there areas of tension?
Can you allow them to soften?
Notice in your body too where are there areas of ease?
Feel that softness spreading.
How is your general energy right now?
Are there areas in your body that feel heavy or stale?
Or maybe you feel like your whole body is buzzing,
Tingling.
Can you allow your energy to gently settle?
The slow swirling cycles that naturally happen begin to soften,
Move calmly with the breath.
You notice how easy your breath begins to feel.
It feels the deepest part of your lungs first.
Down into the chest,
The belly softly expands.
The exhale feels complete.
Exhaling gently,
Lightly,
Completely and releasing all worries,
All expectations with the exhale.
Now imagine your next breath rolls up through your left arm.
It reaches its peak point at the centre of your chest and then flows back down over the right shoulder and down to the right hand.
The next inhale rolls up through the right palm,
Up the right arm.
Reaching that peak point of change at the end of the inhale.
Flowing through the chest and back down,
Releasing down the left arm.
Inhale flows in through the left arm.
Changing at the centre of the chest and flowing down the right arm.
Inhale rolls up the right arm.
Over the right shoulder through the centre of the chest and the exhale rolls on down the left arm.
Continue to feel the breath moving like this.
Flowing up one arm,
Changing as it moves through the centre of the chest and flowing back down the other arm.
You can feel like your whole body is breathing.
As the chest expands it's like it's drawn through that arm.
And the exhale allows the palms,
The shoulders,
The neck,
The rest of the body just to completely soften.
Inhaling deeply.
Inhale completely.
And as you get used to this you begin to notice the quality of the pause between the inhale and exhale.
You notice that place,
That place of change right in the centre of the chest.
It's quiet,
It's peaceful in there.
Allow this feeling of peace right here within you.
Feel like this peace,
This calm feeling could move freely around your body.
Maybe you find it easier if this is represented by a light or a colour.
Or maybe you can just feel this feeling.
However this peaceful energy is represented,
Watch it now flow down the left pericardium meridian line.
Appearing at the left armpit it flows down the front of the left arm,
Over the bicep and through the centre of the left elbow crease.
It flows down the forearm,
Over the front of the wrist to the end of the middle finger.
And just as easily as the breath flows this light,
This colour,
This feeling of peace flows back up the triple burner meridian line.
Up the back of the fourth digit.
Over the back of the hand.
Up the back of the forearm.
Up the back of the tricep.
Over the shoulder.
Up the neck it travels behind the left ear.
All the way to the edge of the left eyebrow.
That feeling of peace spreads with it.
The body starts to soften.
With the next inhale the light moves from the left eyebrow back down through that heart space.
You notice how peaceful it feels again.
With the next exhale it begins to flow down the right pericardium meridian line.
Through the right armpit and over the centre of the right bicep.
Down to the inner crease of the elbow.
Down the right forearm.
Through the right wrist all the way to the end of the middle finger.
Allow this energy to flow but do not worry if it pauses or slows down.
Just watch it with care.
Even if it's moving slowly the peace of this energy is still flowing within the meridian lines.
It then travels up the triple burner that right side of the back of the hand.
Up the back of the right forearm.
Over the right tricep.
Over the right shoulder and up the right side of the neck it travels behind the right ear.
Making its way to the outside edge of that right eyebrow.
And inhale you feel it move back down into the right heart space.
And continues to flow around the pericardium and triple burner meridian lines.
The peace of this energy brings a softness as it travels.
Just as the breath flows in and out of the body you can feel this ease of flow along this lines.
Allow your awareness if it begins to judder.
Just watch it with patience and kindness without trying to change a thing.
There's no need to force anything and just allow what comes up to be released.
The energy of the pericardium and triple burner support the heart and small intestine and they nourish the actions of our whole body.
They give life throughout.
They help everything work in harmony as intended.
When we become overwhelmed or depleted we may feel lost or that retreat is our only option.
We often want to hide away from it all and shut down especially if we feel deserted.
But by looking inside we can always find a source of inner strength.
Always find a place of inner peace.
We have everything within that we may ever need.
We do not need to fear emotions.
We don't need to fear an experience.
But embrace them and love them for all that they can bring.
Without fear we begin to accept.
We can allow and we can release.
Continue to watch this energy flow through these meridian lines,
Rebalancing as it flows,
Revitalising your own energy of peace.
Move if you need.
Exhale deeper.
Allow your body to show you exactly what it needs in this moment.
Exhale deeper.
Then finish off the circuit that you are currently on.
Allowing the energy to finish its flow up near the eyebrow before it travels back down into the heart space.
Then remember a place in your body that the energy did not flow as freely.
Or any place where any sensations of heaviness or tension have continued to arise.
Contact this place now with a hand or with your undivided attention.
And bring your other hand to your forehead.
Then just allow whatever needs to come up to show itself to you now.
Any thoughts,
Tension,
Sensations,
Any heat.
Whatever feelings you notice,
Allow them completely without fear.
And then watch as they begin to be released.
Exhaling,
All those sensations are allowed to leave the body.
Bringing balance within.
When you feel your body has done exactly what it needs to,
Then return your hands to your lap.
And contact the right pulse points with your left hand.
Then feel into the pulse point three fingers away from the right thumb.
And apply a little bit more pressure here.
Notice,
Is it beating softly or hard?
How does it feel to connect into your pulse?
Then recall your intention for today's meditation.
The situation that requires more balance.
Perhaps it's complex and requires a bit of clarity.
Or an area where you need to find that inner strength.
To allow that cooperation both internally and externally.
To find that spark.
To find that passion.
And to support multiple areas in your life.
With your focus on this intention,
Bring your right hand to your forehead.
And see how this intention feels in your body.
See what it brings.
All the thoughts,
All the emotion.
Everything surrounding it that you may not have been ready to feel until right now.
You know you're safe.
You know you're supported.
Whatever is coming up now,
It's coming up now to be released.
Deep breaths through these sensations.
Allowing them to be felt fully.
Accepting them and loving them wholly.
And notice how they feel as they pass through you.
And you begin to return to balance.
To ease.
As the charge around your intention begins to settle.
And when you feel that you have released all that you need to.
Return your hands down.
And let your awareness stay on your breath.
Notice again the place between the inhale and the exhale.
That pause.
That stillness.
This place of peace is always within you.
Whenever you need it.
Even if it is a little hard to find,
You know that it is always within.
Continue to stay here for as long as you need.
Or do whatever you feel called to to complete today's meditation.
And returning to your day.
