The intention of this meditation is to bring balance to the flow of energy through the lung and large intestine meridian lines.
These lines help us to let go,
To release attachment and to feel peace in the absence of people,
Ideas or things.
You may have a situation where you wish to feel the peace in letting go and whatever that may be for you bring it to your mind now.
Then take a few moments to get comfortable.
Shuffle,
Shift the weight,
Maybe have a little bit of a stretch and whether you're sitting down or lying down bring one hand to the belly and one hand to the heart.
Then notice where the breath is moving in and out of your body.
There is no need to alter it,
Just be aware.
Which of your hands is moving the most?
Which of your hands is moving first?
Then see if you can breathe and only feel your belly hand moving.
The breath may feel a little shallower but can you allow just the belly hand to float up and down while the chest hand remains still?
The lower ribs expand as the belly hand lifts up and the body soften as the belly hand falls.
After a few breaths like this notice how it feels within your body.
Now really connect to the feeling of the exhale,
The motion of it,
That sensation after you've finished exhaling.
Start to take some deeper breaths in so that the chest hand starts to move to and have an open mouth exhale releasing all the air held within.
Big deeper belly breaths in and noticeable open mouth exhales.
Make some sound,
Exhale without judgment and allow each exhale to release all fears and expectations.
Use the exhale to blow away all the thoughts,
All the tension leaving your body feeling completely free.
Then allow the hands to fall by the side and if you feel comfortable touching the end of the thumb to the index finger.
Now picture a light,
A colour.
What do you want to use to represent the energy that naturally flows within your body and see it sitting there within the lungs?
It flows into the lungs with an inhale and at the moment it stays in your body even with an exhale.
This light then begins to concentrate becoming much smaller and you can feel it,
You can see it move and flow over towards the left armpit and down the left lung meridian line.
Just as your breath flows in and out this light flows down the arm,
Down the outside of the left arm flowing with ease.
It flows down through the left elbow,
Down the outside of the left forearm towards the end of the left thumb.
After reaching the end of the thumb you watch it travel up the left index finger,
Up the large intestine meridian line,
Over the back of the left hand,
Over the left wrist and up the outside of the left forearm.
Using the flow of breath watch this light flow over the back of the left elbow,
Up the arm and over the top of the left shoulder.
It travels up the left side of the neck finishing its journey at the left nostril.
With an inhale you can feel the energy flow back down into the lungs completely filling them and with an exhale it begins its journey down the right lung meridian line,
Down the outside of the right bicep,
Through the right elbow and down the right forearm towards the thumb.
Through the wrist it finally reaches the end of the right thumb and continues its journey with ease up the right index finger and over the back of the right hand.
Traveling up the outside of the right forearm,
Over the right elbow,
Maybe you even feel a release as it travels up the back of the right arm.
You notice that the shoulders just float with ease up and down with the breath as the light continues to flow over this right shoulder,
Up the right side of the neck finishing its journey at the right nostril.
The light moves with the breath,
Your breath is moving this energy and inhale draws it back down into the lungs and an exhale it continues this circuit around the body,
Down the lung meridian line and back up the large intestine.
You feel the tingling and release as it continues to flow around.
There is no need to hold on to anything,
Especially no need to hold on to the breath.
Just as you use the exhale to blow away the thoughts,
Feel into this exhale now and allow all blockages to be released.
There is no need to force anything.
Notice any resistance with acceptance and kindness.
You can feel that the soft natural movement of the breath just helps the energy to flow in the pace that it feels like it needs to.
Just as holding on to the breath gets harder with time,
Holding on to the past does not create ease in our body.
The natural cycles of birth and death,
Of change and growth,
Of continuous expansion are all a part of us.
Our ideas and beliefs will constantly evolve as we do.
Our relationships will change as we grow into exciting new people.
When we hold on to objects,
Hold on to old limiting beliefs,
Then the past keeps us stuck fighting this natural flow of life.
Letting go helps us move forward freely.
It does not mean forgetting or that we can never experience the past again.
It means bringing things forward with us as they truly are and not as we wish them to be.
Letting go of attachments and acceptance brings peace,
Truth and transformation as we embrace our connection to life.
Feel the energy of this as it moves through these meridian lines.
The letting go and the life that it brings.
Finish the circuit that you were on,
Allowing the energy to flow to the end of the large intestine meridian line and then keep your awareness on the feeling of the breath moving in and out of the body.
Then notice any areas where blockages were found,
Where maybe the energy didn't flow as freely or that tension has begun to develop.
Then bring one hand here and if possible bring the other hand to your forehead and imagine that you were breathing into this place.
Sending fresh energy to this place with an inhale and allowing any stale tension to be released with the exhale.
Watch this place with a sense of curiosity,
Not with a need to force or change anything but just seeing how if you allow it resistance can be released.
And when you feel that your body has balanced enough let the hands back down into the lap and hold the right pulse points with the left hand.
Now really connect your index finger to the pulse point closest to your right thumb and notice the beat beneath it.
Fast or slow,
Strong or shallow,
Just notice this connection.
Then recall your intention for today's meditation,
Recall that situation.
Maybe you feel you cannot change something or that the challenge of the outside world is too great.
An area that you want to feel the peace in letting go,
That there is someone or something that is not around and you wish to feel more ease.
Notice where this situation lives in your body.
What do you feel when you are thinking about it?
Then bring your right hand up to your forehead still connecting to the pulse and breathe into that area of the body.
Emotion or tension may rush in,
Allow it.
You are safe to feel,
To allow the natural flow of things.
Thoughts and sensations may flow in and just as we exhale using the breath allow them to flow back out.
Watch that area of your body begin to settle,
Rebalance and return to a state of peace.
The energy of the lung and large intestine meridian lines is here to help you let go.
And when you feel that your body is balanced,
Let your hands settle by the side.
Then notice the space that you have created within.
Your breath is always here to help you.
Each exhale is a chance to release the thoughts of the mind and reset to the next moment.
Return to it when you need.
Return to this place of peace.
Now you can continue to sit here with this new space,
This feeling of release and sense of inner peace for as long as you need.
Or doing whatever you feel called to,
To complete your meditation practice and return to your day.
