by Drea C
This practice is meant to clear the mind and body from fogginess that takes over your ability to perform daily tasks. It can be used to start your day off in a clear manner or used before heading off to sleep soundly. You will be guided through some light breathwork that will lead you to a body scan to release fog and stagnation that doesn't serve your purpose.

Welcome to Yoga Nidra for clarity and relieving brain fog.
In this Yoga Nidra,
We will concentrate on getting present in our minds,
In our physical body,
So we can release and let go of things that are clouding our mind and taking our focus away from what's important.
For this Nidra,
I want you to find a comfortable position,
Lying down on your back,
Maybe something under the knees,
Something under your neck.
Allow your feet to just fall out to the sides.
Palms can be facing up,
Maybe arms are away from the body slightly.
Allow your eyes to rest back in their sockets as you gently close the lids.
We're slowly going to melt into a space where we can let go of stressors and tension,
Work,
Kids,
Anything that weighs on you and makes you feel overwhelmed,
Takes away your concentration,
So you can be in this moment and relax.
I want you to take note of your body right here and now.
Are you clenching your teeth together?
Allow your jaw to release.
Are you pressing your tongue to the roof of your mouth?
Allow your tongue to release and lie in your mouth gently.
As we go through this Nidra,
Take note of where your mind goes.
I want you to try to stay with my voice and anchor into my voice,
But our minds tend to take us elsewhere.
Should your mind take you elsewhere,
Try and take note of where it goes.
And once you notice you're in a different place,
Try and anchor back into my breath,
Into my voice and relax.
For your breath right now,
Take note of how it's flowing.
Does your breath feel like it's fast,
Slow?
Maybe it's just across the board,
Normal,
Relaxed.
Are you holding any tension in the rest of your body?
We're going to do a couple breaths together in order to release that tension,
Which is the first step toward getting that clarity in your mind.
Right here and now,
Think of releasing all the air out of your body.
Let your lungs and your belly deflate,
Making space.
Keeping the mouth sealed,
Begin to inhale through the nostrils.
Take note of how the air feels as it enters in through your nostrils.
Is it cool or warm?
Damp,
Dry?
Fill all the way to the top.
Then open your mouth and release gently.
Exhale the air out.
Let it go.
Doing that again,
Seal the lips.
Begin to breathe in through your nostrils and through the nose.
Take note of the air and how it feels.
Is it the same,
Different?
Feel expansion in the lungs,
Expansion in the belly.
Hold that breath at the top.
When you're ready,
Open your mouth,
Let go,
Release,
Relax.
Setting your sankalpa for practice,
Which is much like an intention of what you want to get out of this practice.
Maybe you have something on your own or you can go with what I've set up,
Which is clarity in and brain fog out.
Begin to hone in on that.
And in your mind,
I'll give you a moment to start saying or repeating your sankalpa to yourself.
I choose to have clarity and I choose to release brain fog.
Say that at least three times or whatever it is that your sankalpa may be.
I'll give you a moment here to concentrate on clarity and release the fogginess.
Now that you've set your sankalpa and set your intention in your mind,
Let's begin to bring our attention to our third eye center.
It's a space of intuition.
It sets right between the eyebrows.
Bring your focus to that space.
Think of clarity coming in.
What does clarity look like to you?
Imagine the brain just clearing out of anything that doesn't serve you.
Anything with no purpose melts away and is removed from your body,
From your brain.
Let it go.
Continue to concentrate on that space right there between the eyebrows.
Imagine everything melting away.
You can see clearer.
You feel clearer.
As we move through the body,
We're going to scan from head to toe,
Finding clarity not only in your mind,
But clearing out anything stagnant and old in the body that does not serve you.
That in return helps clarify your brain mentally when we take all the stagnation out of the body physically.
Taking your mind from that third eye center,
We move over to the right ear.
Take your awareness to the right ear.
Move over to the left ear.
Bring awareness to both ears together.
Moving down to the right side of the jaw,
The left side of the jaw,
Both sides together.
Moving inside the mouth to the tongue,
The tongue is released and relaxed,
Sitting gently in the mouth.
Moving to the top lip and the bottom lip,
Both lips together.
Moving down through the throat,
Bringing awareness to your throat,
Allowing those muscles to release and relax.
Moving through to the right shoulder as it melts into your floor,
To your mat,
To your bed.
Move over to the left shoulder,
Allowing it to rest gently,
Imagining both shoulders together.
No tension,
No tightness.
Move down to the right elbow and the left elbow,
Allowing those joints to relax.
Both elbows together,
Releasing and relaxing into the space underneath you.
The right wrist,
The left wrist,
Both wrists and joint spaces together and relaxed.
The palm of the hand,
The right hand,
The palm of the left hand.
Think of the curling of the fingers as they're rested and relaxed.
Tension is gone,
Therefore the fingers relax and have that natural curl of both hands together.
Bringing attention,
Moving back up to the throat chakra,
The front of the throat,
Moving down through the chest.
As you notice your breath,
Allowing the chest to rise and fall gently and naturally.
Continuing down through the belly,
The navel.
Again,
Taking notice and awareness of the breath as it gently and naturally ebbs and flows.
Awareness goes down to the pelvis,
Where your hips connect.
The right hip,
The left hip,
Both hips together.
Moving down the thighs to the right knee,
The left knee,
Both knees together.
As there's no tension in the knees.
Continuing down to the fronts of the shins,
The right ankle,
The left ankle,
Both ankles together.
Your feet are relaxed and falling out naturally to the sides.
The top of the right foot,
The top of the left foot,
Both feet together.
Your right toes,
Your left toes,
Sitting gently.
Slight curl to your toes naturally as you're releasing any tension,
Any fogginess through the body.
Moving your awareness to the backside of the body,
We move up to the pelvis where the tailbone lies.
The lowest part of your spine,
Bring your awareness there.
Slowly start to go up the back of the spine to the lumbar spine,
Which is the low back.
Up to the mid back,
The thoracic spine between the shoulder blades.
Up through the back of the neck,
The cervical spine,
As all of that lies gently and melts into your mat.
Finding clarity through the spine as it leads us back up to the base of the skull.
Imagine the whole spine together resting,
Releasing,
Relaxing.
The back of the skull is melting into your mat.
Bring your awareness there.
Imagine energy forming around your head and in through the ears.
The energy pushes out any fogginess,
Any blockages.
Just imagine everything's clear,
Open.
You feel safe,
Happy.
Coming back to your sankalpa,
Think of the clarity you've built.
Clarity comes in as brain fog goes out.
Has your mind trickled off to other places?
Come back to the third eye center,
That space of intuition between the eyebrows.
Draw your attention there.
Energy comes in through that space,
Enters the body from head to toe,
Flushing out anything old and stale,
Making you feel refreshed and new.
As you lie here,
Take note of how your body feels now compared to how it felt at the beginning.
The fogginess in your mind has released.
Your body has a new refreshed feeling physically.
You're able to rest.
You're able to let go of anything that doesn't serve,
To make space for what does serve you.
Bring your awareness to that third eye center,
Starting to awaken the mind if we've trickled off.
Come back to your present moment.
You're welcome to continue lying here.
Or you can begin to massage the back of your head left to right on your mat or on your bed,
Whatever surface you're on.
Your eyes are still gently closed.
The tongue still rests in the mouth gently.
No clenching of the jaw.
Maybe you begin to wiggle your fingers,
Wiggle your toes.
Bring yourself back gently.
Bring awareness from head to toe.
Energy is building through the body to take you through the rest of your day.
Or if you're doing this at night,
It's allowing you to release and clarify your brain,
Your mind,
So you sleep well.
No worries to be had.
Rolling out wrists,
Rolling out ankles.
Maybe you hug your knees in and rock your body left to right.
Continue to be in your space.
Take this practice with you.
And enjoy whatever you have planned for the rest of your morning,
Day,
Or evening.
Thank you for joining.
Namaste.
