Relationship Anxiety Guided Meditation.
This is a story meditation with three memorable characters who will help you to overcome your anxiety in relationships.
Let's begin by closing our eyes and focusing on the breath.
As you relax and observe the breath,
Notice how it naturally deepens.
Notice the muscles of your face and neck.
Allow these muscles to soften and relax.
Notice the muscles of your shoulders and arms.
Drop your shoulders and breathe down deeper into your body.
Feel your hands growing warm and tingly.
With the increased flow of energy,
Feel your legs growing heavy as you ground yourself with the energy of the earth.
Now imagine that you are sleeping snugly in your bed late at night.
You awaken to a strange noise.
When you open your eyes,
You see sparkles of light.
The sparkles coalesce into a figure that appears to be floating above the floor.
You sit up and look into the eyes of a child.
Or is it an old woman?
She seems to be eternally young,
Yet infinitely wise.
She introduces herself.
I am the ghost of relationship past.
I have come to help you with your relationship anxiety.
How did you know I needed help,
You ask?
She replies,
I know all about your past.
Come with me,
And I will show you.
She reaches out her hand and says,
With the touch of my hand,
You will travel back in time.
You soon find yourself flying over the town where you grew up.
You see your childhood home and other familiar places.
The ghost says,
Remember a time when you loved someone,
But your love was not returned.
How did you feel in this situation?
Do you feel any tension or discomfort in your body?
Where is it located?
If this feeling had a voice,
What would it say?
It may be something like,
I'm not good enough,
Or no one wants to be with me.
This belief will haunt you until you see how you created it.
Now it's time to let it go.
As you breathe in,
Think the word accepting.
As you breathe out,
Think the word releasing.
Breathing in,
Accepting.
Breathing out,
Releasing.
Release the negative belief out into the universe where it is transformed into the light of awareness.
Breathe in the light.
Imagine it filling you up,
Restoring your natural ability to love.
Say to your younger self,
I am here for you.
I love you.
Now let us return to the present.
You find yourself back in your bedroom.
The ghost says,
Before this night is over,
You will be visited by two more ghosts,
The ghost of relationship present and the ghost of relationship future.
Good night.
The ghost vanishes in a sparkle of light.
You crawl back into bed and immediately doze off.
A short time later,
You are awakened by a merry tinkling sound,
And you open your eyes to see a jolly-looking man.
He says,
I am the ghost of relationship present.
Yes,
I suspected that,
You reply.
He grins and says,
Follow me.
He leads you out into the street.
You are surprised to find that it's daylight outside,
And there are many people on the street.
After walking for a while,
You say,
We don't seem to be going anywhere.
The ghost replies,
This is an exercise in being present.
All the stories in your mind that create your anxiety are reflections of the past.
Take your focus off the past and see what is right in front of you.
The most important person at this moment is the one you are with.
You cannot focus on someone else and feel anxious about yourself at the same time.
Practice being present with every person you meet.
Make it a game.
He laughs merrily.
Even if the interaction only lasts for a few seconds,
Observe as much as you can.
Become fascinated with humanity.
As you listen to the ghost,
You realize that he is fascinated with humanity.
That's the secret to his warm and open-hearted nature.
You become fascinated with watching him and learning from his example.
Eventually,
He says,
It's time for me to go.
Already?
You exclaim.
You were enjoying the game.
Alas,
Yes,
He replies,
But you will have one more visitor tonight.
He winks and vanishes,
And you find yourself back in your bed.
As you lay there,
You realize that you feel anxious about meeting the ghost of relationship future.
But before you have time to think about it,
You notice a dim light slowly growing in the room.
A shadowy figure appears near the foot of the bed.
You sit up and greet the ghost in a shaky voice.
I presumed that you are the ghost of relationship future?
The ghost answers in a quiet voice.
Yes,
I am.
You wait for further details,
But the ghost remains silent.
You say,
I can't see you very well.
The ghost replies,
That's because you have to create me.
How do I do that?
You ask.
The ghost says,
With the power of intention,
You need to visualize the relationship you want to have.
To see it clearly,
Answer these questions in your mind.
What would you like to do together?
What would you like to talk about?
How will the relationship help you become your best self?
Close your eyes and take three minutes to imagine the relationship.
When the time is up,
You open your eyes.
The ghost is standing clearly before you,
Smiling.
You did well,
The ghost says in a pleasant voice.
Now it's time for me to go.
Remember,
You are the creator of your future.
Good night.
Good night,
You reply.
And the ghost vanishes.
Then you lay down and fall into a peaceful sleep.
Now it's time to come back from the meditation.
Take a deep breath and feel your body.
When you're ready,
Gently open your eyes,
Stretch,
And come back to the present moment.
