Hey y'all,
I originally recorded this meditation for one of my spiritual advisement clients and I wanted to share it with you all as well because I know this is a time where there's so many things competing for our attention and rest is something that there's a lot of pressure for us to not seek and to not get.
So I share this with you in the hopes that it brings you rest and it brings you affirmation as you sleep and as you get some much needed,
Much needed R and R.
So goodnight,
I love you and I hope you get what you need.
This meditation is for you.
For those times when you can't fall asleep,
When you wake up out of your sleep or you just need to rest during the day,
Get comfortable wherever you're resting at,
Get ready to be reminded of who you are as we relax and breathe into our sleep.
When saying these affirmations,
I love to rub my belly and I love to do this because my stomach or my belly is an area where I hold a lot of tension and a lot of anxiety and it's also where I hold my power.
It's the place where I find the courage to advocate for myself,
The place that I find the courage to say I'm hurting when I'm hurting,
To say that I need help when I need help,
To say I need support when I need support.
So as we breathe and get our bodies ready for bed,
Let's support this area and remind it with our touch how grateful we are for it.
Feel free to rub it,
To squeeze it,
But just keep your hand there more than anything.
Now,
At this moment,
Turn off the lights,
Turn off any TV or audio devices that would distract you while you're sleeping.
And once you've done all that or if you don't need to do that,
Just get comfortable where you are in your bed or wherever you find yourself sleeping.
Support yourself with the pillows or clothing,
Whatever you need to feel comfortable in this moment.
Make it happen and place your right or left hand on your belly and let's begin breathing in for one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
And hold your breath for one,
Two,
And three.
And let's breathe out for one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Four,
Let your breath return to normal,
But keep supporting your belly with your hand.
I want you to invite you to lay your burdens down,
Let them be carried away by the silence and the stillness of the night.
If you find yourself thinking about this thing or the next,
Acknowledge the thought and tell it that you will deal with it another time.
Give yourself permission to be distracted,
But more importantly,
To come back into focus.
Take a deep breath in and let my words hit you and repeat these affirmations after me for as long as you can.
And when you can,
Because you keep falling asleep,
I want you to trust in your spirit,
Trust in the Holy Spirit to pray the things that you don't know to pray,
That I don't know to pray.
Trust your spirit to hear my words and to repeat them back to you,
Back to God.
I am a limitless well of creativity and I will not lose my beat or my creative mojo by prioritizing and choosing rest.
