Let's take a breath.
Close your eyes,
Drop your gaze,
Keep your eyes open,
Whatever is most comfortable for you.
And as you're taking your breath,
Allowing your exhale to elongate.
Engaging the parasympathetic nervous system.
And noticing any places in your body,
Maybe your shoulders or your jaw,
That might benefit from just a little bit of a softening.
Actually dropping them.
Maybe moving them.
Maybe it's your belly.
Softening and allowing gravity to hold you.
Noticing all the ways that you try to hold yourself.
And then soften.
Remembering to elongate the out-breath.
And then taking your hand and feeling into a place in your body where you might need a little extra comfort.
Maybe it's your heart.
Maybe it's your belly.
Maybe it's your throat.
And putting your hand there.
Maybe it's both hands.
Taking some breaths and feeling the warmth of your hand or the warmth of your body.
Perhaps a little squeeze,
Indicating a hug.
Maybe that's what you really need is a hug and you wrap your arms around yourself.
And allow yourself to draw your attention to wherever your hand is.
Bringing your attention to your body.
And imagining your hand being the conduit through which love and compassion and warmth flow to you.
Continue to flow the love and the warmth and the compassion while also focusing on that elongated exhale.
Continuing to engage the parasympathetic nervous system.
And remembering to drop your shoulders or your jaw or your belly.
Allowing them to soften,
Being held by gravity.
And noticing if you can have all of this happening at one time.
A softening.
A flowing.
And a nice,
Gentle,
Spacious exhale.
And then when you feel ready,
Wiggle those fingers and toes.
And gently flutter those eyelids open.
