It’s always great to check in with yourself when you first wake up and notice what’s present in the morning. Science has shown that sleep is a time for us to process the previous day’s emotions. When we wake up the brain has a clean slate to begin the day fresh and we can also choose to be more aware of our feelings and emotions throughout the day by setting intentions. We also want to remind ourselves of how we would like to live our lives before we are whipsawed by the world’s external events… I find that this daily morning check-in can be useful to set the day off with the right tone… whether you have slept well or not… we can be more intentional… we can inquire into what do we need to support ourselves today… maybe better food choices… or an early night tonight… or a long yoga nidra meditation to support ourselves during the day… Each day we all have the opportunity to bring our best selves to the world.
