Mindfulness practices designed to enrich your life.
This is the Being Present practice with David Mercado.
Day 17 Acknowledging Others Acknowledging others helps to open up and connect with the human in all of us.
Therefore,
As we acknowledge others,
We are acknowledging ourselves.
We work and collaborate with people most of the time physically or remotely.
We tend to take for granted people that are close to us,
Like our colleagues,
Family and friends,
And we sometimes dismiss their daily achievements.
You might live with your children or extended family,
And although everyone has responsibilities,
It is important to acknowledge activities when they are done.
If you work with a group of people,
And although they might be doing work that they were hired to do,
Acknowledge all small wins.
Acknowledge other people's achievements,
No matter how small these are.
This adds fuel to their motivation and also communicates that any achievement,
No matter how small they are,
Matters.
If they are close to you,
Start by posting a congratulations note at their desks,
Tables or even the fridge store.
Acknowledge the achievement in a conversation or meeting,
A text message or celebrate their small success with a sweet treat.
Think about how you will honour the small accomplishments of those around you.
Practice 17 Acknowledging Others Number 1 Make a list of five things you appreciate.
Look at your list and reread each item again and after each item say thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you,
With intense emotion.
Number 2 Be conscious about people around you.
Make an effort and look at what they achieved during the day.
It can be as simple as saying,
Thanks mom for making my breakfast every day,
Or thank you Jane for doing the extra report that it was urgently needed.
The more we acknowledge others,
The more we are acknowledging ourselves.
Be well,
Be safe and be grateful.
