Mindfulness practices designed to enrich your life.

This is the Being Present practice with David Mercado.

Day 2.

Your environment.

I always live in the present,

The future I can't know,

The past I no longer have.

Fernando Pizoras.

How are you today?

Did you manage to identify what is good for you in your life?

Today we are going to talk about our environment and how this affects our well-being.

How is the place where you live?

Is it small?

Big?

Is it dark?

Light?

Do you share with others?

Family?

Friends?

Or flat housemates?

Sometimes we do not have a choice where we live or how long we need to be indoors as in the current situation.

Therefore we need to make changes in our place to be able to live,

Rest and enjoy as much as possible.

Research suggests that some of the areas to look at making friendly environments for you could be trying to bring more natural or artificial light into a room can lower depression and anxiety,

Influencing your mood and how you feel.

Having rooms and hallways,

Cluttered with shoes,

Coats and stuff,

May invite you to carry on leaving more stuff on the floor,

Resulting in a sense of heaviness.

If you spare the time,

You can tidy up your rooms,

Hallway,

And by having a tidy space,

This may motivate you to keep things in their place.

This could increase your motivation and behaviour.

If you work in space,

Computer space is clear,

It could help your brain to focus only on one thing rather than be distracted by several papers and things on your desk.

Increasing interaction with people in your house or outside your house is beneficial.

If you live on your own,

Try to keep important communication by phone or video call.

Redecorate if you can.

You can look at changing your environment by painting a wall or changing the position of the furniture,

For example,

Moving a sofa or TV from where they are,

Or even changing a chair orientation.

This could bring a different view,

Feeling about where you are.

By decluttering your space,

You are decluttering your inner world.

DM.

Practice number 2,

Environment.

Number 1,

Make a list of 5 things you are grateful for.

Consider all positive things,

Situations you might have and decide what is most important to include on the list.

Number 2,

Look at your list and re-read each item,

And after each item say,

Thank you,

Thank you,

Thank you,

With as much intention and emotion as possible.

For example,

I am grateful for the place I live in,

Thank you,

Thank you,

Thank you.

Number 3,

Make a new list of 5 things you appreciate for you and your environment.

You can be grateful for your bed,

Your house,

Your room,

Your pets,

The windows,

Location,

Etc.

Number 4,

Look at your list and re-read each item again,

And after each item say,

Thank you,

Thank you,

Thank you,

With as much intense emotion as you can.

For example,

I am grateful for my bed where I can peacefully sleep.

Thank you,

Thank you,

Thank you.

Now you will have 10 more things to appreciate.

Be well,

Be safe and be grateful.
