Hello,
Beautiful humans.
My name is Darius,
And in this video,
I'm going to share with you two really simple,
Really powerful ideas to help you feel more confident as you walk into every room.
I know there are people watching this that have various sensitivities,
The energy that feel a lot.
That care a lot,
That perhaps have some different types of neurodivergences.
People don't know this about me,
But I can be very,
Very.
Socially anxious.
There are lots of situations where I just kind of get overwhelmed and I lose my center.
And so over the years,
I've been picking up different practices,
Different philosophies,
Different things that help me go.
Back to center.
Because I've said this before and I'll say this a million times.
There is no more powerful position.
You can take than here now.
Here now is where everything happens.
We like to obsess about the past.
We like to obsess about the future.
I get it.
But here now is where you meet people.
Here now is where you make an impression.
Here now is where you create change.
And so if we can't be rooted and grounded and ourselves here now to the best of our abilities and everyone's abilities are different remember that.
But if we can get more present,
More confident,
More ourselves here now.
That can be a game changer.
Wow this this concept i can embody this or at least even think about it or recall it as i enter new rooms and new spaces and meet new people.
It could change things.
So the first one.
Comes from Brene Brown.
I remember hearing this and just being like,
Wow,
That,
If I can do that,
If I can remember that,
If I can repeat that mantra.
It's going to change the game,
And it really,
Really did change the game.
Now,
Again,
We're not pursuing perfection.
We're not trying to be like,
No,
I will never feel awkward again.
That's not real.
You can hit.
5%,
10% more confident.
That'll start to snowball and that'll make a big impact.
And so here it is.
Often in social settings.
What happens is.
.
.
Tell me if you can relate.
Someone says something,
Someone does something,
And we start to either puff up And tried to compete in the i did that thing too and i am better than you and i am smarter than you.
Or we shrink down and we say i can't compare to you i don't have anything to say i'm going to shrink away and just completely get out of this conversation.
One of those often happens.
And Brene Brown in her brilliant says,
Don't puff up.
Don't shrink down.
Hold.
Your sacred center.
Don't puff up and be something you are not.
Don't shrink down and be something you are not.
Hold your sacred center.
Now,
Of course,
That is very true.
Contextual,
Depending on the situation,
Depending on you.
But we kind of know where our sacred center is.
It's this awareness around,
Do I really want to say something?
Do I need to say something?
Or am I forcing myself to say something?
Do I have something to say and I'm being quiet?
How do I find my sacred center,
My own boundaries,
And hold it?
So don't puff up,
Don't shrink down.
Find your sacred center.
The second idea that rock my world.
Comes from Jay-Z.
That's right,
The rapper and business mogul Jay-Z.
I think he said it in a line.
No,
I think he said it in a podcast.
You know he said he's got to the point in his life that he meets incredible people.
Incredible places.
And he says that his goal.
.
.
Is to walk into every room as himself.
That sounds really simple,
But just listen.
Walk into every room as yourself.
Imagine that was your goal.
When I heard that,
I was like.
.
.
That's what I want my goal to be.
You know,
And I'm imagining the people Jay-Z meets,
He could probably meet presidents and popes and,
You know,
All sorts of different people and it's like,
When you come into that room,
Instead of changing who you are to match the room,
You walk into every room as yourself.
These are two simple ideas that I kind of have on repeat.
As I go into places,
You know,
I just I'm going to walk into this room as myself.
I'm going to walk into this room as myself,
No matter who's in this room.
I'm going to walk into this room as myself.
I'm not going to puff up,
And I'm not going to shrink down.
I'm going to hold my sacred center.
Because the most powerful position on planet Earth.
Is here.
Now.
Okay,
Thanks for listening.
I hope those two simple ideas.
Activate,
Awaken something in you.
Give them a try.
See which one you like better.
See if you want to adapt them.
See what happens when you show up here now as yourself.
Thanks for watching this video,
My name's Darius,
And I'll see you next time.
