Hello.
I'm Dali.
And this is my short series on reframing thought.
Reframing thoughts to bring some more peace to your day.
If you've listened to any of my meditations on Insight Timer or joined one of my live sessions,
You'll know that most of the time The things I talk about are all about bringing peace to your day.
And reframing your thoughts can be a really easy way.
Of bringing a little bit more peace.
So today's thought.
Is around rules.
And quite often we will.
Place rules.
Our daily routine.
We'll have things that we must do.
Things that we have to get done before we finish the day,
Before we finish work,
Or before we leave the house in the morning.
We have all these rules.
And sometimes we'll tell ourselves that.
Once we've completed that thing that we've set is a rule.
Whether it's a routine or something you must do in the house.
We'll feel better,
We'll feel more relaxed.
We'll feel at peace.
But what I want you to do is.
Think about.
Whether you need those rules at all.
I'll give you an example.
I was going on retreat a couple of years ago.
And whenever I've gone on solo,
Solitary retreats,
I've always done it in silence,
Complete silence.
And a very good friend of mine who actually introduced me to meditation many years ago said.
.
.
Why don't you take.
.
.
Allow yourself your phone.
So that you can listen to.
.
.
Podcasts on meditation or just talks.
Choose some of your favourite teachers,
Download some talks.
And I was like,
No,
I can't do that.
Need to be in silence.
I need to be in complete silence.
I was explaining this to my partner And she said,
You know,
It's just you.
Puts this pressure on yourself it's just you that sets these rules for yourself And it was like I needed that.
Other person to tell me that.
So that I could reframe.
My thoughts.
On retreat.
Being silent on retreat i was still being silent i was just listening to some talks which was dharma it was in the silence of meditation I could listen to teachings of some of my favourite teachers.
I did it and it felt great to do that.
So what are the rules that you could change?
Or get rid of completely.
Just have a think about that.
What rules you have in your day,
The pressures you're putting on yourself.
How could you change them?
How can you reframe those thoughts?
Let me know how you get on.
And I'll see you soon.
Take care.
