Welcome to this short reminder that might just help you worry less today.
Specifically,
Worrying less about the thoughts of others.
Sometimes all we need is a reminder,
A little prompt to help us remember that we already have the required wisdom to snap us out of the negative thoughts,
Pull us back up from the downward spiral.
There's a classic quote,
You wouldn't worry about what other people think of you if you realized how seldom they do.
In other words,
We give the thoughts of others way more time and importance than necessary.
Samuel Johnson once said,
If any man would consider how little he dwells upon the condition of others,
He would learn how little the attention of others is attracted by himself.
We spend so much time thinking about what others think of us,
That we don't stop to consider how little we actually think of all the people we know,
Or have in our lives.
The law of averages dictates that if we're not thinking about everyone else,
They're probably not thinking about us either.
But here's the key thing to remember,
What other people think of us is really just what we think they think of us.
I'll say that again,
What other people think of us is really just what we think they think of us.
Try and remind yourself of that next time you're worried about someone else's opinion of you.
These are all just your own thoughts.
We could just as easily imagine that they're thinking wonderful things about us.
The truth is,
What other people think of us is none of our business.
So see if you can catch yourself throughout your day,
Every time you notice a thought causing you worry or anxiety,
And remind yourself it's just a thought.
I hope you have a wonderful day.
