Welcome to a meditative working for giving ourselves a clean slate and welcoming new beginnings.
This practice can be especially meaningful at the time of the new moon,
But it can be beneficial at any time.
Begin this meditation in a position that is comfortable for you.
This can be sitting or lying down,
Indoors or outdoors.
Begin by taking a deep cleansing breath and releasing it slowly.
If you wish,
You may close the eyes.
Bring the awareness to the natural flow of the breath.
Be aware of the breath without attempting to alter it.
Allow the neck and shoulders to relax.
Allow the eyes and jaw to soften.
Allow the body to release any tension it might be storing.
Set aside anything that does not allow you to be fully present in this moment.
Set aside that which is in the past so that you might accept the gift of stillness,
The gift of this time to honor yourself,
The gift of contentment in knowing that by releasing past burdens,
You are able to make fresh starts.
The new moon is nature's reset.
It is a time of new beginnings,
But before anything can begin anew,
We need to release the old,
Meaning that which no longer contributes to your highest good,
The things we should no longer be carrying.
This could be anger,
Guilt,
Fear,
Uncertainty,
Failure to recognize the goodness and strength within ourselves,
Failure to show loving-kindness to ourselves,
Failure to see our worth.
Following nature's example,
We are wise to take this opportunity to give ourselves a clean slate.
We pause now to purify and reset ourselves.
Dark sky tonight,
No moon I see.
Let the light of the moon now glow within me.
New beginnings will soon take flight,
But first I honor my spirit and my might.
What burdens me,
I lay to rest.
In myself,
I now invest.
The slate is clean,
I start anew.
The moon blesses me in all that I do.
Take a moment now to invite stillness into yourself.
Invite healing energy into yourself,
Allowing it to go where it is needed.
Invite forgiveness into yourself.
Become aware of the light within yourself.
This light empowers you.
This light emanates from you,
Shining brightly ahead of you,
To illuminate your steps.
Take a moment now to honor the way in which your light shines.
Your inner light continues to illuminate your path now,
As you begin your return to the present.
Keeping the awareness on the breath,
Do so now with an elevated sense of peace and gratitude.
Allow the mind to become external now.
Become aware of the sounds around you.
The sounds of the breath.
The sounds within this space.
The sound of my voice.
Begin to invite subtle movements into the hands and feet.
The fingers and toes.
With your light still shining brightly,
Take another deep breath and release it slowly.
The slate is clean.
I start anew.
The moon blesses me in all that I do.
At the conclusion of this practice,
And before embarking on your next journey,
Stop and do one thing to show yourself compassion.
And once you have done this,
Stop and do one thing that makes you smile.
The crow flies from me to thee,
To send the message,
