Begin this meditation in a comfortable position.

This can be sitting or lying down.

Close your eyes and spend some time focusing on your breath.

Concentrate on each inhale and each exhale.

Allow your muscles to relax,

Releasing any tension.

Breathe mindfully as you allow your eyes and shoulders to soften.

Perhaps you will choose to perform the Lotus Mudra during this meditation by bringing your hands together in front of your chest with your thumbs pointing in towards your chest,

Your palms,

Thumbs,

And fingers touching as you spread your index finger,

Middle and ring finger wide like a lotus flower opening.

Recess is considered to be a temporary withdrawal from the usual.

That can mean work,

School,

Obligations,

And so forth.

And while that practice is quite healing,

The very idea of having something to look forward to,

Especially a break,

Is extraordinarily therapeutic.

So let's take three deep breaths together as we transport ourselves to the playground of our choice.

It could be an actual playground or any portal of relaxation that you choose to revisit.

Inhale,

Calmness.

Exhale,

Fear and negativity.

Inhale,

Healing.

Exhale,

Self-doubt and worry.

Inhale,

Playfulness.

Exhale,

Anything constricting you.

We have now arrived,

My dear friend,

At a place where we can totally relax and let go.

Wherever this meditation takes you,

Be it swimming,

Taking a walk on the fresh blades of summer grass,

Riding a bicycle,

Or dancing in the rain,

This is recess.

There's no wrong scenario,

So smile and let your imagination run wild.

Relax.

Take a moment to soak in whatever you are feeling,

Sensing,

Seeing,

Or smelling.

Whatever makes you happiest at this moment,

Invite that sensation into your heart with fondest love.

As you rest comfortably,

Allow your favorite sensations to guide you into an even deeper relaxation.

Take your time.

This is your time.

For this moment in time,

The only obligation is to yourself,

So play.

If you have chosen to practice the Lotus Mudra during this meditation,

Sense that your hands and fingers are opened in a way as to invite in whatever you wish at this moment.

Above all,

Give yourself permission to let go and fully honor yourself,

For you are so worthy of honor.

And a time of recess,

My dear friend.

At your own pace,

Begin to open your eyes.

Invite subtle movements into your fingers and toes as you awaken from this rest.

Return feeling well rested and relaxed.

As you come out of this meditation,

I invite you to again inhale calmness.

Exhale fear and negativity.

Inhale healing.

Exhale self-doubt and worry.

Inhale playfulness.

Exhale anything constricting you.

Take one more pause.

I admire you for giving yourself a break.

Seek recess whenever you need to.

The crow flies from me to thee to send the message,

Blessed Be.

Namaste.

Thank you.
