Begin this meditation in a seated position,
Preferably on the ground or on the floor.
Being outdoors is wonderful for this time,
But anywhere you are is just fine.
Close your eyes and relax your jaw,
Your neck,
And your shoulders.
Take a few slow,
Deep breaths,
And as you do so,
Visualize any and all tension flowing out of your body.
Once you have fully relaxed,
Become aware of your breath.
As you open yourself up to divine love,
Perhaps you will wish to use the Prithvi Mudra,
A mudra for grounding,
By bringing the tips of your ring fingers and your thumbs together.
With each inhale,
Think peace.
With each exhale,
Think protection.
I invite you to envision yourself walking through a pumpkin patch just after twilight.
Perhaps you will have a flashlight or a lantern to illuminate your steps.
With each step,
It is getting even darker and more peaceful.
You feel nothing but calmness and relaxation.
The moon is shining above,
Smiling at you,
And casting its gentle light on the rows and rows of the most beautiful pumpkins you've ever seen.
As you continue concentrating on your breath,
Sense yourself anchoring into the earth,
Feeling the earth's support.
You are welcome here.
You are safe here.
You are wanted here.
Spend a few moments enjoying stability and absorbing the energy of the earth,
Feeling protected.
Pumpkins are associated with the moon,
The element of water,
And the planet Neptune.
They correspond with creativity,
Luck,
And for centuries,
They have been symbols of protection.
Feel that protection now,
As you move among the pumpkins.
You are fully protected and relaxed.
Surrounded by pumpkins on this autumn evening,
You absorb peace and calmness from them.
Your mind is clear.
You are fully at ease.
See yourself now picking up one of the pumpkins that has been calling to you.
You are able to feel and smell it,
Hold space with it for a moment,
And feel its protective and nourishing energy flowing into you and surrounding you like a warm hug.
Your mind telegraphs a message to the pumpkin.
Wondrous pumpkin,
Beautiful and bright,
Show me protection both day and night.
I hallow you and welcome you in.
May security and blessings in my home begin.
At your own pace and with gratitude,
You begin to return home carrying the pumpkin that picked you,
While the moon and our ancestors smile upon you.
With each inhale,
Think peace.
With each exhale,
Think protection.
At your own pace,
Begin bringing subtle movements into your fingers and toes,
And eventually into the rest of your body,
As this meditation concludes.
When you are ready,
Allow any unused energy you have gathered to slowly return to the earth,
Knowing that it will be there for you whenever you need it again.
When you are ready,
Open your eyes and take another deep breath.
Blessed be.
