What began at possibly the second millennium was later scoffed at by scientists and scholars,
Only to once again be embraced by a cultist.
What I'm referring to is the practice of divination.
The word divination often conjures up images of fortune tellers with crystal balls.
It's often shrouded with mystique,
Excitement,
And sometimes apprehension.
Simply put,
Divination is a practice of seeking answers,
And anyone can do it.
The reason divination works is quite simple.
Everything and everyone is connected to the universe.
So when we put a question out there,
The universe will supply an answer.
During any divination practice,
It is important to be relaxed and go into the session with an open mind.
Meditation beforehand is an excellent idea.
Tarot and oracle cards are quite popular tools.
For the beginner,
I recommend oracle decks,
As they are quite easy to work with and often don't have as many cards as the tarot.
A common practice is asking a yes or no question while shuffling the deck.
Then the cards are fanned or spread out,
And the seeker chooses the card they're drawn to for the answer.
Some will ask more complicated questions,
Such as,
Will I get a new job this year?
In this case,
I can't stress enough the importance of properly framing the question by putting it into an action-oriented way.
For example,
Instead of asking if you'll get a new job,
A better question would be,
What can I do to get a new job?
This is much more enabling.
Some choose to pull three cards to answer questions about past,
Present,
And future.
If you're wanting to work with cards,
Be sure to choose a deck that includes a booklet explaining all of the card's meanings.
Also,
Spend some time with your deck just going through it before you dive in.
Even after you become comfortable with your divination practice,
I highly recommend staying in tune with your deck by continuing to study the cards on a regular basis.
Cards are not the only tools.
Crystal balls,
Pendulums,
Runes,
And so forth are also popular.
In my personal practice,
I enjoy using cards,
But you don't necessarily need tools at all.
Here are some examples.
While out in nature,
You can throw your question up to the sky and observe the cloud formations to interpret the answer.
The same can be said for watching animals,
Listening to birds,
And so forth.
You can apply the same technique of putting out your question and seek the answer by interpreting how a rabbit,
For example,
Is behaving.
Interpretation is the key word here,
As divination and psychic abilities are two very different things.
We are continually getting feedback from multiple sources.
The trick is to listen and observe.
The answer is there.
Listen.
