Grounding Cord Meditation

Courtney is going to guide you through a grounding practice. This can be a useful tool when you are travelling and being in a new place and dropping a grounding cord and when you return back to your home dropping a grounding cord there.

I'm Courtney Sanborn and this is a meditation audio on grounding.

So before we get started in the meditation,

I would like to spend just a moment and talk about the benefits and why we even want to ground.

What's the purpose of this?

So this can be a very useful audio if you are traveling and you've left the city or town that you live in.

So being in a new place,

Dropping a grounding cord there.

And then in turn,

When you return back to your home or your home base,

Dropping a grounding cord there.

Additionally,

Our creativity often flows greater if we are grounded.

So a connection to the earth,

A connection to the lower half of our body,

Feeling safe,

Feeling stable,

Feeling solid,

Feeling nice and grounded can allow the energy in the belly area,

The heart area and the head area to feel safe enough to move itself so that we can create with greater fluidity.

So let's just take a moment.

We'll begin the meditation now.

You can either lie flat on your back or you can be seated in either a chair or cross-legged,

Whatever's comfortable.

And then wherever you are,

Just close your eyes and then just start to notice the natural rise and fall of the breath through the chest or on the heart area.

Not forcing anything or changing anything,

But just witnessing the natural rise and fall of the chest area.

Maybe it's fast,

Maybe it's slow,

Maybe it's rhythmic.

There's no right or wrong here.

Just being aware of what is,

Not trying to change anything.

And now notice the natural rise and fall of the breath coming in and out of the nostrils of the nose.

So bring your awareness right below the nostrils.

So the upper upper lip area and the nostrils,

And then just noticing how the breath comes in and out of the nose.

And the same thing here,

Not changing anything,

Not judging anything,

Just watching.

And as you watch the natural rise and fall of the breath through the nose,

Just notice how relaxed and heavy your body becomes.

Feeling the body melting down from the crown of the head to the shoulders and then feeling the heaviness of the weight of the skeletal structure just sinking down into the hips.

And the hips and buttocks are heavy against the surface beneath them.

And now bring the attention to your sacrum or your tailbone.

So imagine the backside of the body down at the end of the spine as if there were a cord or a rope.

Maybe it's a chain,

Whatever you see,

A tail growing out of the sacrum.

See it growing out and going down.

And feel this,

We're going to call it a cord,

But feel this cord coming down out of the body and slowly making its way through the surface beneath you.

So the floor,

Maybe multiple floors,

Like a drill bit drilling down into something that just pushes its way through all the surfaces beneath it until it makes its way to the earth.

And then once this cord has contact with the earth,

Allow it to penetrate through the earth to a couple feet below the earth.

And once it reaches a couple feet below the earth,

It's going to connect with a ball of golden light.

So see this cord coming all the way from your tailbone down into the earth,

Into this golden light.

Once it has contact with the golden light,

I want you to tie it off into the golden light.

Whatever that looks like to you.

There could be something like a carabiner that you use for rock climbing,

Or it could be a knot.

Anything you see,

As long as this cord bolts into that golden light and feels secure and stable.

And now the cord is stably fixed in the center of this golden light.

And notice the exchange of energy from this golden light up the cord into the body.

And then from the body down into this golden light,

There's a connection,

There's a feeding of energy,

An exchange of energy.

It flows smoothly,

Adding peace to the body,

Adding safety to the body.

And then from this golden light,

In the same place that the cord is tied off,

See the cord remain tied off,

But then it flows down through deeper into the earth.

And it keeps going down and down into the earth until it reaches the core,

The center of the earth.

Once the cord reaches the center of the earth,

Tie it off there.

As you tie the cord to the center of the earth,

Feel how stabilizing this is for the body.

That same exchange of energy all the way from the core of the earth back up to the tailbone,

Feeding it into the body and feeling the safety,

Creativity,

And relaxation that it gives to the body.

Mother earth feeding the body with these qualities.

And then the body discharging and releasing anything that isn't useful to it into this cord,

Which is dropped back down into the earth,

All the way to the core of the earth,

Where it's then released and processed and recycled in the way that the earth knows how.

You can stay here as long as you'd like,

Feeling this exchange and current of energy from the tailbone down to the golden light below the earth,

And then from the golden light down to the center of the earth.

Then just a few more currents of energy.

When you're done running the currents of energy,

Feel your entire physical body and make note of the changes,

Maybe the feelings of safety or stability that you feel after.
