My name is Kari.
Thank you for joining me.
Let's meditate together.
Make sure that you're sat in a comfortable seated position.
Close down your eyes if you haven't done so already.
Straighten your spine.
Start to slow down your breath.
Taking nice,
Long,
Slow,
Deep breaths.
Coming into a place of stillness and inner peace.
Using your breath and your body to aid that.
Slow down your breathing so that your body gets the message that it's time to meditate.
And create that stillness in your body so that your mind and your emotions can follow suit.
Start to slow down.
Just feeling down to the base of your spine.
Right down at the bottom of your spine.
Take all of your focus and attention there into the coccyx.
Feel your sit bones on the chair or on the ground,
Wherever you're sat.
Feel that solid connection underneath your sit bones.
And then focus on your coccyx right there at the base of your spine.
So your attention is going more towards the back of your body.
You've all probably seen diagrams of the spine,
The vertebra and what it looks like.
Start to imagine that in your mind and see that tiny little bone at the bottom of your spine,
Your coccyx.
And then working your way up in your mind as if you're looking up your own spine,
Looking up your vertebra.
Just start to see that everything is aligned.
Your vertebra is nice and straight and comfortable.
Moving up your lower back.
Up to the space around your waist.
Further up between your ribs,
Going up to the nape of your neck.
And then all the way up to your skull.
And flow over the top so that you're focused at the top of your skull.
The top of your head.
Feeling that space at the top of your head,
Just see if you can feel any tingles,
Any vibration on your scalp.
Come down to the front of your scalp,
Down onto your forehead.
And soften that space on your face.
See if you can allow it to just completely relax and soften.
Let your eyebrows get heavier.
Any tension around your eyes can soften.
Relax your cheeks and your jaw.
And then as you stare out into the space there in front of your mind,
Just see that big,
Wide,
Vast,
Dark,
Open space.
Even though your eyes are closed,
Staring out into the blackness all around.
Know that you're completely safe on this little mind journey that I'm going to take you on.
You're safe at all times.
It's just so that you can experience the knowledge and the wisdom of the situation.
Trust in yourself.
Imagine that you're hanging on to the side of a cliff.
You have the dirt and the grass from the top in your hands.
You have a good,
Good hold on it,
But you're literally hanging on to it.
Hanging over the side.
You can't see below.
It's dark.
Everything around you is dark.
Typically this would be like the worst nightmare.
You don't know what you're going to fall into if you let go.
You don't know if there's anybody down there to save you.
It's all completely unknown.
And all you have is yourself in this situation and you're holding on to the earth at the top,
The grass,
And your knuckles are white with how tight you're holding on.
See if you can allow yourself to just trust to put yourself in that situation mentally.
You can feel your fingers.
They're tired,
But you know you can't let go.
So you keep straining.
And you're holding so tight,
So tight because you don't want to fall.
You don't want to let go.
You don't know what's down there.
You don't know whether you'll survive.
In this situation,
You can feel the fear in your body.
You can feel how tight you're holding on to the side and how that feels like you're holding on to everything that you know.
Everything that you can hold on to.
Because who knows what's down there?
You might just fall and wither away.
You might fall and be okay.
You might fall and someone might catch you.
You might fall and just keep falling.
And that is so scary because you just don't know.
So holding on to the grass,
Holding on to the dirt like you are,
It feels like you're holding on to everything that you know in your life.
Everything that,
Even if it's good,
Even if it's bad,
It doesn't matter because you know it.
And if you let go,
Then who are you?
If you let go and trust,
What if it's wrong?
What if you made the wrong decision?
What if everything ends?
Or what if it never stops?
So many uncertainties and yet at the same time you're getting tireder and tireder.
The muscles in your arms hurt.
You're starting to shake from the exhaustion of trying to keep that which you know,
To try to just stay safe,
To feel safe.
You're holding on and holding on and holding on and your arms are burning.
You take a deep breath and think,
What shall I do?
What do I do?
What do I do?
And you can't climb up because it's too steep and you haven't got the strength to go back up,
Back into everything that you once knew,
That you once were.
You can't go backwards in this situation.
And yet if you let go,
What will happen?
And in the same breath,
You're getting tireder and tireder and tireder.
Your arms and your hands just ache.
Your shoulders hurt.
And then you reach this weird place.
The weird place is actually a feeling of surrender.
Like,
Screw it.
You're exhausted.
What can you do other than let go?
You have to let go.
Just let go.
I can't do this anymore.
I can't hold on to the old anymore.
I can't keep holding on.
I have to trust that I'll cope.
I have to trust that the universe has got my back.
I have to trust that I've got my own back.
And with the biggest,
Deepest,
Sweetest breath,
You breathe in all the way down through your body.
And then you slowly release your breath and release the grip in your hands and you let go.
And one second later,
You land on solid ground.
There was barely any fall.
Barely time to be scared.
You landed on solid ground.
And you know that you're going to be safe.
You'll figure out where you are.
You'll figure out what you need to do.
You'll figure it all out because you have done in the past.
And it's then in that moment where you really realize that you are capable and you do have your own back and you do trust in yourself when it comes down to it.
You'll get through.
I'm going to count to three and you can open your eyes and come back into your space.
One,
Two,
Three.
Just gently wiggle your fingers.
Feel your feet.
Feel your body.
Take a nice big,
Deep breath.
Breathe out.
Namaste,
My friends.
