At bedtime, snuggle in and listen to a silly story about a fruit bowl where all the fruits are busy arguing about who is the best. Just when things get a little too noisy, an unexpected voice reminds them how funny they’re being—and a thoughtful plum shares an important lesson. This gentle meditation story helps kids relax, giggle, and fall asleep learning that being different is a good thing, and that life is sweeter when we stop comparing and start appreciating each other.

Are you ready to meditate with Cori?

Climb into your bed and make sure that you're really,

Really comfortable.

Check that everything is just right in your room,

The lights are just right,

You're wearing your cosy,

Comfy pyjamas,

And all is well in the world.

So you can relax your body and let go of your busy,

Busy day.

The box of cereal was sat on the kitchen counter next to the fruit bowl,

Listening to a conversation between all the different fruits.

The cereal,

Let's just call it crunchy nuts,

Could not believe his ears,

He couldn't believe what he was listening to.

Fruit,

He thought,

Was very nice,

You know,

It's fruit.

It's the healthy choice,

The happy choice,

It's the good thing to eat.

Cereal,

Debatable,

Depending on which camp you're in.

Sometimes I have too many carbs,

He's thinking to himself,

Sometimes I'm the healthiest thing I guess in sliced bread,

And then sometimes I'm just as bad as sliced bread.

You just can't win.

But then he heard the fruit again and he got completely distracted and pulled back to the drama of the fruit bowl.

If only the people knew what this fruit was saying to each other,

He thought to himself.

The banana said,

No,

No,

You know,

To the apple.

The apple said,

Oh yes I am,

I clean teeth,

I am recommended by dentists,

I clean between the teeth,

I,

Said the apple,

Am almost as good as floss,

And I taste delicious,

And I'm portable,

So am I,

Said the banana.

Yes,

But,

But,

There isn't any part of me that needs to be thrown in the bin,

You can't say that,

Can you,

Nana?

The banana said,

How many times have I told you not to call me Nana,

I am a banana,

That is my name,

Banana.

And I will repeat myself because no one seems to hear it round here.

I'm the boss,

I'm the best fruit in the world,

The banana said.

I'm sweet,

I'm puddiny,

I'm delicious,

You can freeze me and make me into smoothies,

You can take me on the go,

You can eat me when I'm gone brown,

Just put me in banana bread,

I am the best fruit in the world.

A strawberry perked her,

Oh no you're not,

No way,

No way,

I'm the best fruit,

Everybody loves strawberries,

Strawberry cheesecake,

Strawberry milkshake,

Strawberry jam,

Strawberry pavlova,

Strawberries with cream,

Strawberries with sugar,

Strawberry cake,

Strawberry everything,

Strawberry milkshake.

I'm a milkshake,

Said the banana,

Banana milkshake,

So there.

The strawberry flinched a little bit,

Yeah but you know,

Um,

Oh strawberries,

We're better for you because we have seeds,

And seeds are good for your digestion,

So there.

The banana said,

Well I have potassium,

And I'm really good at keeping you chill,

And calm,

And keeping your muscles active,

Potassium is the way to go.

The apple said,

Oh I'm sick of listening to you.

The cereal just listened with eyes wide open.

The grapes piped in,

Oh we're the best,

We're the best,

Look at us.

They all looked at each other,

All of the grapes,

There was a bunch of grapes in the fruit bowl,

And they all looked at each other as if to say we are the bestest.

We make wine,

We make grape juice,

We are delicious frozen as a frozen snack,

Oh my gosh we are the best.

We are great with cheese,

We're good with picnics,

We are just the best with like peanut butter,

Grape jelly,

Duh.

The strawberries went,

No,

No,

No,

No,

No,

Strawberry jelly is better with peanut butter.

The banana chimed in,

Um excuse me,

Banana and peanut butter sandwiches,

Elvis Presley ate those,

I think that tops all of you guys.

A plum,

A lone plum in the fruit bowl piped up.

I think you're all ridiculous.

I think that we're all individually delicious.

I think we should appreciate our differences.

There was a watermelon sat next to the fruit bowl,

Too big to go inside the fruit bowl.

Yes,

The watermelon said,

We are delicious,

Each one of us.

The banana said,

Oh,

You can be quiet,

You don't even get to go in the fruit bowl,

You're so big and clumsy.

The watermelon said,

Now watch it,

Watch it,

That sounds like fighting,

Talk to me.

The cereal stepped back a little bit,

Oh my goodness gracious me,

There's going to be a fight between a banana and a watermelon.

The watermelon said,

You just watch it.

The banana shivered a little bit as if to say,

Oh,

I best be careful,

That watermelon's very big.

He put his attention back on the plum.

You don't know what you're talking about,

There always has to be a best.

The plum said,

No,

No,

Actually,

There doesn't always have to be a best.

Because if you think about it,

We're all very,

Very different.

We have different flavours,

We have different shapes,

We have different tastes,

We have different colours,

Different sizes,

We are eaten at different times for different reasons,

We all have healthy qualities,

Just different.

The banana said,

But it's weird being different,

It's just best to be the best.

No,

Said the plum,

No,

I have to disagree.

The watermelon said,

I'm on the same page as the plum,

And if anybody has anything to say about that,

They'll hear about it.

The plum addressed the watermelon.

Now,

I appreciate your support,

Watermelon,

But there's no need for the anger and the bullying.

The watermelon felt a little bit ashamed and went quiet.

Thank you,

Said the plum.

We are,

After all,

Very different fruits,

And we have to learn to appreciate each other versus just attacking each other for our differences and who is the best.

That's absolutely ridiculous.

We should appreciate that we're all so different.

But we're all wonderful in our own way.

There was a cantaloupe sat next to the watermelon.

The cantaloupe said,

I know I'm weird.

I mean,

Look at me,

I'm orange on the inside.

But I know I'm a particular flavor that not everybody likes.

But I also think I'm really great.

So there.

The plum said,

Exactly.

We're all very different,

And you have to accept your differences.

And that way,

You'll feel good about them.

The banana said,

Look,

I don't know whether you think you're a therapist or what,

But I don't really like being this long and yellow.

But I do think that I am the best.

Ah,

Said the plum.

So after all,

Banana,

You're quite unhappy with yourself,

Are you?

The banana went quiet.

I actually think it's really great to be yellow,

Said the plum.

You stand out in a crowd.

You're a happy sunshine color.

And you're so tall,

You can see much more than the rest of us can see from this fruit bowl.

You've got lots of advantages,

But that doesn't make you better.

Does it,

Strawberry?

Strawberry said,

Definitely not,

Because my seeds make me better than that banana.

The plum said,

No,

No,

No,

No.

It doesn't make you better,

Strawberry.

It just makes you different.

The strawberry went quiet.

This little plum had a lot of good information to share.

This plum knew what it was talking about.

The box of cereal was thinking that this plum was a genius.

The box of cereal said,

I agree with the plum.

I think all of you guys are quite silly,

Arguing about being different.

How ridiculous is that,

Really?

All the fruit looked at each other as if to say,

What?

The cereal can talk?

The cereal said,

Yes,

I can talk.

And look at me.

You could compare me with at least 30 different boxes of cereal.

Am I sat here saying,

Woe is me.

I'm too tall.

Woe is me.

I'm too seedy.

Woe is me.

Or am I sat here saying,

I'm better than you.

I'm better than you.

No,

I'm better than you.

At this point,

The apple blushed,

Feeling as if he was caught in the act of being quite arrogant.

No,

Said the cereal.

I'm not doing any of that.

I'm just listening to all of you guys in the fruit bowl thinking,

You're all crazy.

In fact,

You're all nuts.

And then the cereal started laughing to himself because he was naughty.

Please make another one like this! I loved It so much that it made me so happy because, I was getting bullied at school for wearing a tail and people called me a furry and people think I'm a furry, but this meditation made me proud of being a therian. Comment "STOP THE BULLYING!" if you don't want anymore bullying throughout the world
