Are you ready to meditate with Kori?
Lay down and get super comfortable in your bed so that your body can relax.
You can let go of your long busy day.
It's time to chill and possibly fall fast asleep at the end as you listen to the music.
Paul was a very tall,
Paul was very tall,
But Paul was a very,
Very tall giraffe.
Most giraffes are tall,
Right?
But Paul was super tall because he had a very long neck.
All the other giraffes went as tall as Paul.
They were all kind of the same size,
Some a little bit smaller,
Some maybe one or two inches taller than the others.
But no one was like 10 inches taller like Paul.
This made Paul feel really self-conscious and he found himself trying most of the time to fit in.
All the other giraffes just naturally looked alike and they seemed to like each other because they looked alike.
But because Paul was different and he was super tall with a super,
Super long neck,
It didn't automatically fit in.
Now sometimes being different doesn't matter,
Especially if you're confident and you don't mind that you're different.
You actually like that you're different.
Sometimes it's a plus and it helps you to fit in.
But sometimes if you're like Paul and you're different,
It didn't help Paul.
Paul just got super shy because he was different.
He felt awkward and unusual.
He even sometimes felt weird.
Yep,
Weird because his neck was so long.
Paul was trying again on this particular day to just kind of hover around everyone else.
They were munching away on the leaves and the trees,
Chatting and gossiping between each other about what was going on and who had said what and done what.
And Paul felt like he was listening to a conversation that was foreign.
They could have been talking in a different language because Paul didn't understand any of it.
He wasn't there when Jeremy slipped in the mud and it was so funny because he wasn't invited.
He wasn't there when Sally made them all laugh with that funny joke at the sleepover because he wasn't invited.
It was like they were having their own conversations and their own little jokes because they had their own little world and Paul wasn't in it.
He felt uncomfortable kind of standing there and no one talking to him,
No one involving him in the conversation.
This made him bow his head and feel bad.
Paul just was sad.
He decided to walk away and stop trying.
He went and sat on his own.
Paul started to cry.
He cried.
And sometimes when he cried it made him feel better.
But today his tears didn't seem to help.
He started to pool around him like he was sat in the middle of a river.
A river of Paul tears.
Poor Paul.
He cried and cried and cried.
And then he wiped some of his tears away and looked around.
He'd walked for quite some time before he sat down and started crying.
He'd walked to a place that he'd not been to before.
A tree caught his eye because the tree had like bright colors in it.
He'd not noticed that tree before.
He must have been walking for such a long time.
He stood up and squinted his eyes so he could see closer.
But the tree just looked like a big,
Big,
Big,
Tall,
Tall,
Tall tree.
What had these bright colors in it?
He couldn't tell if their colors were flowers or if they were fruit.
They could be fruit,
He thought to himself.
Some yummy,
Delicious,
Squishy,
Sweet fruit.
That would probably make me feel better.
Paul started to walk quite quickly over to the tree.
He'd forgot about his tears and he'd forgot about the others.
He was thinking about what could be on the tree.
He got closer and closer and he noticed it was fruit.
It was definitely fruit.
Oh my gosh,
It was fruit.
I'm super excited,
He thought to himself.
This is fruit.
This is fruit.
As he got right there next to the tree,
He smelt one of the fruits.
It smelt delicious,
Sweet.
It smelt like an apple.
A shiny,
Big,
Red,
Juicy apple.
And the tree was covered in them.
And what was nice,
What was so,
So,
So nice was that Paul could reach all the way to the top,
The very,
Very top of this tall,
Tall tree and eat the apples from the top.
He was munching and munching and munching on the bestest,
Sweetest,
Juiciest,
Crispiest red apples he had ever tasted.
He was in heaven.
His long neck was helping him to get to all the apples on the top of the tree.
This is the best,
He thought.
And then he heard voices and the voices were getting closer and closer.
And when he turned around,
It was all the other giraffes staring with their mouths wide open at the delicious,
Bright,
Red,
Juicy apples on the very,
Very tall tree.
They all gathered around the base of the tree and reached their necks not quite long enough.
Oh dear,
What will they do?
They all started chatting amongst themselves and Paul just kept on munching all of the delicious red apples.
He munched and munched and munched until the group of giraffes decided that they needed to talk to Paul.
They needed to make friends with Paul.
They needed Paul's long,
Long,
Weird neck.
Paul listened as they all decided to chitter and chatter and introduce themselves and say,
Wouldn't it be fun if you shared these wonderful apples with us?
Paul had a choice.
Was it to say no and send them all away for being mean and not being his friends and never involving him or caring about his feelings?
He could have done.
He could have just said,
No,
This tree's too tall for you guys and you're all way too small.
Or he could be kind.
He could be Paul.
And Paul was kind.
He was a sweet,
Kind,
Funny,
Awesome giraffe and no one had ever took the time to get to know him.
Paul said,
I can help you if you all want some apples.
All the giraffes said,
Oh yes,
Yes,
Please.
Thanks Paul.
Thanks.
Paul started to pluck the apples with his long tongue one by one and drop them on the ground.
So now all the other giraffes that were much shorter,
That were all the same,
Could eat the apples too.
Paul smiled.
He'd eat an apple for himself and then he'd knock five or six more on the ground.
They all laughed and munched and munched and chomped the apples together.
From that day on,
Everyone included Paul in everything.
They realized that Paul was super funny.
Paul was super kind.
Paul was an awesome friend and they just never gave him a chance because he was different,
Because he didn't look the same,
Because he was too tall and his neck was way too long.
All of the other giraffes quickly realized how silly that was and how shallow they had been and how mean they had been to Paul and they were never like that again.
And because they learned that it wasn't nice to be like that,
They were never like that with any of the other animals either.
Anyone that was different,
Anyone that looked unusual,
Anyone that didn't look just like them was invited to be friends.
And that's exactly how it should be,
Don't you think?
Okay,
Now if you haven't done so already,
Close your eyes.
Take a big deep breath in and sigh it out.
Let your body get heavy and relax into your bed.
I want you to fall asleep knowing that the world is full of kind people,
Just like Paul was a kind giraffe.
I want you to know that sometimes even if there's people or friends that aren't very nice and sometimes they can be mean,
There's always just as many nice,
Kind,
Compassionate people in the world and you can be one of them.
You can be like Paul.
You don't have to be bitter,
Mean and angry.
You can be kind and generous and helpful,
Just like Paul.
Now let your body sink deeper into your bed.
Let the world around you start to fade away.
Let your muscles relax.
Let your breathing slow down and let yourself fall asleep so you can have the bestest,
Sweetest dreams.
The end.
