Heidi Cherry & Vaya - Meet Freya

Freya is blind and sees the world in a different way from most people. Cherry learns all about Freya and her cane, and her love for horses, and piano music while the cats wait for their horse riding lesson. This meditation was created to hopefully create some understanding of other's situations and to also show how we are all AWESOME in different ways... Relax at the end with me and fall into sweet dreams.

Are you ready to meditate with Kari?

Make sure that you're laying down,

You're warm and comfortable.

You've got out all of the wiggles.

Wiggle your toes,

Wiggle your feet,

Wiggle your hands,

Wiggle your nose,

Shuffle your body.

Make sure everything is completely comfortable and you're ready to be still and quiet and relaxed.

Heidi,

Cherry and Vea had gone on a very special day trip.

They were going horse riding.

They were going to do horse riding lessons and they were all super excited as each one of them loved horses.

While they were there they got to meet several different horses.

One was called Coco,

One was called Lemon Drop and one was called Bushel.

Each one of them was super sweet and gentle and kind and very used to children riding on the back of them.

Even these horses were okay with cats riding on the back of them.

The cats were very focused and paying attention to Emily and Emily the horseback trainer was talking to him about everything that they needed to do.

How to stop the horse,

How to start the horse,

How to always be kind to the horses,

Things like that and Emily was doing a very good job but Cherry kept getting distracted.

There was a little girl there at the horse ranch and she had a cane and she was stood just a couple of people away from where Cherry was stood and Cherry kept staring.

She kept wondering if the little girl maybe needed a cane because she'd hurt a leg or a foot or something and she kept trying to be quiet and focus on what Emily was talking about but the cane was distracting and Cherry really wanted to know so eventually she ended up asking.

Excuse me,

Excuse me.

The little girl moved her head in the direction of Cherry and Cherry said,

Excuse me I hope you don't mind but did you hurt your leg because you're not wearing a pot or a cast or anything like that there's no brace or a bandage and I know I sound really really nosy but how are you getting around on a cane if you hurt your leg and how did you hurt your leg and did you break it?

Well no you couldn't have broke it because if you broke it then you would have been wearing a cast wouldn't you?

The little girl started to giggle.

She said,

No I haven't hurt my leg.

I use a cane because I'm blind.

I don't see.

What?

Said Cherry.

Cherry looked at Heidi and Heidi was listening by now because Cherry was supposed to be paying attention to Emily and Heidi noticed that Cherry wasn't paying attention to Emily so Heidi said,

Cherry what are you doing?

You're supposed to be listening to Emily.

I know but I met this little girl.

The little girl said at the same time my name's Freya.

I know but I met Freya said Cherry.

Freya can't see she's blind that's why she has a cane.

I thought she'd hurt a leg or something but she hadn't hurt a leg she's just blind.

Heidi what does blind mean?

Said Cherry.

Heidi said,

It's when you can't see like you don't see anything through your eyes.

Sometimes you can see very very little but sometimes some people are completely blind and they don't see anything at all.

They tend to see with their hands or they use their imagination said Heidi.

What?

Said Cherry.

By now Freya the little girl had moved closer so she could listen to the cats talking.

What do you mean she sees with her hands?

You can't see with your hands?

Freya said,

Oh you can.

What you do is you feel things and when you feel them it helps you to find your way and if things stay in the same place all the time like if everything stays the same in my bedroom or if everything stays the same in my house then I get used to feeling things and I get used to knowing things where things are and that's how I find myself around.

Cherry said,

You don't see anything like absolutely anything?

Not anything?

Veya by now was also listening.

Oh me know me know what that means me know what blind means me knows me knows me me have a best friend my best friend is called Burdock and Burdock is a Labrador and Burdock is very very nice and he's very very jolly and he's very very sweet and Burdock doesn't see anything anything at all just like Freya.

Burdock doesn't see anything.

Burdock was born blind that means he's never seen anything but Burdock says that he has a wonderful imagination and he told me that he sees the sky just like everybody else sees the sky that can see with their eyes.

Freya said that's right lots of times people see things with their eyes like you guys you can all look up at the sky right but the sky might look different to each one of you even though you're all seeing the same sky so really I'm just the same I see the sky in my mind on the inside behind my eyes I use my imagination and I can see the sky I can see the clouds I can see whatever I want to see inside of my mind.

Oh me me also know said Veya me also know that Burdock said that he sees things like trees and he also sees things like his food and his dog bed because he remembers where things are and he also sniffs things.

Burdock sniffs things.

Freya said I don't sniff things but I remember everything I have a very very good imagination and I remember everything.

Awesome said Cherry oh my gosh you're like you're like a you're like an elephant because elephants remember everything don't they Freya said yeah I'm kind of like an elephant I remember everything I have a very good memory and Freya said also that she has very good hearing.

Oh OMG that's awesome that means you're also like a bat because bats have really good hearing they hear everything they have like what's it called like vibrational hearing or like radio hearing or what is it what is it like a frequency thing I don't know what I mean but I know what I mean they like hear things because the sound apparently can kind of like repel and bounce off things around you and then you hear it because the sound comes back to you is that what you do Freya is that what you do Freya said well I'm not sure how it works but I do have really really good hearing so I hear really well I remember really really well I'm a bat I'm an elephant and I'm just smart and funny and yes I'm also awesome said Freya.

Wow said Cherry that's really really cool Freya do you like horses too is that why you're here do you like horses Freya said yes I love horses I love horses and I love unicorns and I also love music and what else do I love ooh said Freya me love music too me love ballerina music me love princess music me love any kind of music where I can spin and twirl and dance Freya said I bet you would like piano music piano music's really beautiful to spin and twirl and dance like a princess too I would I would I bet I would said Freya Heidi,

Cherry and Veya all had to go on the horseback riding lesson they said goodbye to Freya their new bestest friend and had a really really fun horseback riding lesson the horses were really sweet nobody went too fast and scary at one point Cherry closed her eyes held on tight and imagined what it would be like if she couldn't see anything when she closed her eyes the whole world went dark but she noticed that she instantly started to hear better just like Freya just like the bats it was like sounds around her got louder for some reason and then she also noticed when she stroked the horse with her paw that she could really feel all of the details like she was seeing with her hands and then even cooler she noticed that if she wanted to she could see with her mind and her imagination just like Freya had said and just like Burdock the Labrador had said Veya's friend it was really quite fascinating and very very cool Cherry opened her eyes and looked around and saw the world as she normally sees it but she was also very very happy about the opportunity of meeting Freya and finding out that everybody has different kinds of worlds everybody has different situations sometimes and it was a really good thing for Cherry to know the end now with your eyes closed laid in bed relaxing or if you're Freya and you're listening let's use our imaginations let's imagine that we're anywhere we want to be in the world maybe the Sun is shining brightly maybe there's big white fluffy clouds in the sky maybe you're on a roller coaster ride or you're at a concert listening to the most beautiful pianist playing delightful music using your imagination you could be anywhere you want to be doing anything you want to do all you have to do is open your mind relax your body and create the world however you want to see it just breathe relax and let your body start to get sleepy let your mind start to get sleepy just let go relax and let go

Loved it. First time listening to it. And just wow. I had my eyes closed and tried to see Witt my hands. I liked it. It's cool. I opened and closed my eyes in the med. I realized with my eyes closed I can hear better. Now I kinda wanna be blind. I loved it though. I never went horse riding before. Have you? If you have, is it fun? 5 stars. I'm so so so happy you made tgis one. So far I think it's my fave one. And not too long ago I started 4th grade!!!!!! It's easy. I liked 3rd grade but I also didn't like 3rd grade. My 3rd grade teacher world yell a lot and on the first day of 3rd grade I had a lot of work. 4th grade is better cause my 4th grade teacher never tells and never gives too much work and is super kind and makes things easy. My 3rd grade teacher was kind but not as kind. Kinda mean 3rd grade teacher. I think 4th grade I'd my best year of school ever and 3rd worst. My teacher gives warnings and I'd the best 4th grade teacher EVER. My 4th grade teachers name is Mr.Nelson. I love him. I can even draw during class! Even when someone in my class is in trouble. My teacher isn't mean. He's still kind to the kid. Like I have a friend in my class named Maci. We're bffs. And once she got moved to the back fir messing around for the rest of the day. She cried and screamed byr mr.nelson was calm and kind. And she also calemed down. Tge next day she was back to her original spot. I love my 4th grade teacher. I loved tgis med.

I am not blind but I have a disorder called attention definite disorder A.D.D/A.D.H.D. which means I get distracted easily and sometimes I get distracted by things I don’t think I’d see if I didn’t have A.D.D. Kind of like if I was blind I could hear more things than normal people I think?

I have a friend called Freya and she loves horses ( but she’s not blind lol)

I personally know that it’s simple to be blind as I have a blind friend, she does all the things you said in this med
