Welcome,
My name is Kori.
Today I'm going to share with you a five elemental meditation that I've been doing a lot lately.
For the meditation,
You will need something that represents each one of the elements.
I normally have a candle for fire,
Then something from the earth,
A food item,
Whether that's a small piece of fruit or I've been drinking cacao as part of the ceremony.
So if you know and you're familiar with cacao,
Then maybe you could make a ceremonial cacao for this meditation.
For the element of wind,
I'll share with you just a very simple pranayama,
Breathe in,
And we'll do that during the meditation.
And then for water,
Just have a small bowl,
Something very simple or you can go very ornate.
I have some very small brass bowls that I use when I make a puja,
Which is like an altar,
And I just pour a little bit of filtered water in one of those so that I can say some mantras,
Some blessings into the water during the meditation.
So if you have all those four things,
Then you have earth,
Air,
Fire,
And water.
And then finally,
I normally give thanks or have a visual of sunlight,
The sun,
Which represents spirit,
And that's the fifth element.
So if you do your meditation during the daytime and you can do it outside when you can see the sun,
That's brilliant.
But if not,
Then use your wonderful imagination and imagine that you're giving thanks to the sun.
Make sure that you're sat down in a comfortable position.
Straighten your spine,
Relax your shoulders,
Soften your jaw,
And close your eyes.
First,
Just become comfortable with your breath.
Connect to the rhythm of your breathing,
The feelings in your breathing,
The sensations in your body caused by your breathing.
So connect fully in all possible ways to your breathing.
Listen to your breath and just breathe.
Start to slow down your breathing.
So take longer,
Slower,
Deeper,
Evenly flowed breaths,
And become aware of all the differences that that creates in your body.
Join with me in giving thanks to your breath.
I'm going to just communicate out loud what I normally do internally during this elemental meditation.
So you can follow along with me.
Please just use this as an example.
When you do this alone,
Use your intuition,
Follow what feels really good for you.
No one else,
Just you.
I take a nice big deep breath.
And the first thing that comes to my mind is thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you breath.
For being constantly present.
Thank you for always being there for me.
Always with me.
Thank you for everything that you do for me.
As you come into flow with my being.
I take another big deep breath.
Thank you.
Starting to visualize in my mind a forest.
A forest with beautiful tall lush green trees.
The forest is my happy place.
I imagine I'm sat in the forest watching the movement of air in the form of wind traveling through the trees.
Some of the smaller younger trees bend and move more vigorously with the wind.
And some of the very tall old trees barely make any movement.
They just gently rustle their leaves.
Giving thanks in their own way for the air that's flowing around them.
To be a tree.
Tall and strong.
I start to feel the base of my spine and connect my root chakra to the earth.
I take a long slow deep breath.
And connect like a magnet.
As I breathe in and breathe out my body naturally starts to sway just very gently with the wind blowing through the trees.
Blowing around me.
Through me.
Into me.
Every breath that I take I feel more grounded and rooted to the earth.
I'm at one with the soil.
I'm at one with air.
I start to count internally breathing in for a count to four.
Pausing and breathing out for a count to four.
Bringing in the element of air into my lungs and my body.
Breathing out,
Surrendering and letting go.
Starting to imagine a circle like the circle of life.
In the flow of my breath breathing in,
Down deep.
Through and out and around as I breathe out.
Breathing in as if it's coming in from the top of my crown.
Breathing down deep to the base of my spine.
Releasing from the base of my spine into the earth.
Watching the air flow out of the earth up in front of my face and my body.
To the top of my head and breathing back in.
On this loop of four in a circular cycle and flow.
I let the vision of the forest start to fade in my mind's eye.
My breath returns back to normal and before I open my eyes I give thanks once again to the element of air.
Thank you.
Open my eyes and adjust my spine so it's nice and straight and still.
I look forward at the candle and the flame that's there.
Just watching the flame.
Starting to connect with the flame and how the flame mirrors the energy inside of my body.
I give thanks to the magic of fire.
Its warmth.
Its light.
Its cleansing and destruction.
How it can remove my obstacles and engulf my passion.
I give thanks to all that the element of fire holds and gives me constantly and eternally.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Nice big deep breath in.
Really feeling the fire.
Being at one with this element completely.
And so it is.
I pause as if to give closure to that and then I pick up my cacao.
Mama Earth.
In the form of beautiful,
Sweet,
Delicious cacao.
I take a sip and it makes me instantly feel connected.
I'm surrendering and opening and receiving this beautiful gift of earth inside of my being.
All of her life force.
All of her power.
Her love.
Her compassion.
All of her magic.
Thank you for your protection,
Your guidance,
Your wisdom,
Your substance,
Your daily gift of energy.
Thank you for this opportunity for my life here on earth at this time.
Thank you for always being consistent,
The rising sun and the glowing moon.
Thank you for always supplying me with the tides of the ocean and your breath taking beauty.
Thank you.
I take another sip of cacao and bow my head in complete admiration.
Nice big deep breath in.
Metaphorically feeling like I'm opening to receive with my breath.
And in release of my breath,
I surrender and bow down to the glory of Mother Earth.
And so it is.
I put down the cacao and lift up my small container of the element of water.
I hold it like a treasure cut in the palm of my left hand and I rest it down on my thighs and close my eyes.
I take a nice big deep breath and instantly feel thankful and grateful.
May this water bless every cell in my body.
May it nourish,
Feed and supply me with all that my body needs to sustain life.
May this water join with my river of water that flows through my being.
I give thanks.
May this water be filled with all that is good and all that is great.
I drink the water and allow it to become part of me.
I relax into the acceptance of this element as I let my body naturally exhale.
And as I breathe in,
I once again say thank you.
Thank you.
I put down the water,
Open my eyes,
Straighten my spine and smile at the sun.
My blessed sun.
I feel its warmth on my face,
Like a caress from someone who I love very very much.
It's soft and gentle and very nourishing.
I let my body soften to receive the physical warmth that I can feel from the sunshine.
As if it's feeding my cells and allowing me to grow and evolve and change.
As if I was just like a flower,
Opening up to receive the spirit,
The light,
The highest of vibrational energy.
I feel complete devotion to the power that is.
I feel the power that is inside of myself.
And recognize that sweet feeling of familiarity when you see someone and truly know someone.
And yet you don't even know them.
That feeling.
It feels like home.
Safety.
Just complete unconditional love.
I take a big deep breath in and breathe in the sun,
Its energy.
I breathe in the electricity from this particular light form.
I breathe it in and feel my presence grow,
Beyond my physical being.
Beyond the space I'm sat.
Beyond the room.
The more I breathe in,
The more I expand.
I become everything that is.
And I become empty.
I become nothing that is.
All at the same time.
All in the same breath.
I close my eyes and bow my head,
Bringing my hands together in a prayer mudra.
Fingertips touching my third eye.
Namaste.
And so it is.
And that is the end of my five elemental meditation.
I hope you have a wonderful day.
Love Kari.
