We cannot be aware of anything that we are not placing our attention upon.
So in this meditation,
We shall be practicing.
The discipline of withdrawing attention away from all things,
Including the body and mind.
So that attention is pulled back home within itself.
Into pure awareness.
Not stretched towards anything.
Internal or external.
And therefore.
We come to know the peace of pure consciousness.
The awareness of being.
Unmixed.
With any experience.
Just pure consciousness.
There will be long periods of silence during this meditation.
In those periods of silence.
I invite you not only to be aware of the silence but aware of the silence behind.
The silence also.
Become aware.
Of the space in which even silence A pairs.
Begin by disengaging.
Attention.
From this idea of an outside world.
There is no world.
Simply withdraw.
Your attention from any concept or idea of external world.
There's no such thing.
Bring attention home.
Anything that the senses are aware of.
Begin to pay them less and less attention.
Until attention from the senses has also been withdrawn.
Begin to be more interested.
In consciousness itself.
Not what consciousness is aware of.
Just consciousness itself.
What is this awareness of being?
Any activity of the mind.
Including narratives.
The story of you.
The story so far.
Ideas about the future or the past.
Completely disengaged from these now they're not important and not relevant for this time so simply Begin to feel the peace of this.
Say receding of attention.
We have looked outwards and found only misery.
So call off the search and turn inwards and find peace.
Subtle.
Gentle,
Focused.
Resting in being.
Letting go of all things that attention was attached to,
Let go.
Do not be frustrated if you find that from time to time.
Can't help but get lost in a stream of thought.
The old habit.
Of attention stretching outwards.
If we become frustrated,
That's just another thought we're attaching to.
So let go of even frustration.
Gently withdraw attention back,
Patient,
Gracious.
Focused,
Disciplined.
Moment by moment.
Withdraw withdraw withdraw Just consciousness itself,
Which is already here.
So we're not creating anything.
This doesn't take any energy.
This is a release of energy.
Just being.
And this might seem impossible,
But continue to practice and you'll find this is quite natural.
Withdraw attention from the body as well.
Just beginning to.
.
.
Not be quite so involved.
So we're just gently aware of the body.
We're not analyzing or becoming overly invested in the body.
Just.
.
.
Allowing the body to fall into the background as well.
We're more interested.
In the silence in which body,
Mind and world appears.
So all attention from all things,
Body,
Mind,
World,
Stories,
People,
Places,
Things,
Just letting go of everything,
Everything,
Everything,
Everything.
And the more you practice.
.
.
You'll find Conscious awareness.
Has a kind of magnetic quality to itself,
It enjoys.
Having a tension just falling back into itself.
Just as all rivers flow towards the ocean.
The ocean gently beckoning.
Those waters home.
So too pure conscious awareness welcomes home.
Attention,
Unmixed now.
Unbound.
Disentangled.
So this is just pure now.
And don't be tempted to re-engage with thoughts.
Now this piece is discovered.
This hard-won victory of discovering peace.
Just remain in peace.
There's no further practice.
The silence of pure conscious awareness is the top of the mountain.
There's no further climb.
You might find.
Although you're finding some peace in abiding as this pure conscious awareness.
You're still very aware of experience.
You might wonder if.
.
.
You're doing it wrong or that's not quite it.
So if you're still aware of experience,
That's okay.
But simply become more and more interested in the qualities of pure consciousness.
So experience is still there.
But notice that consciousness doesn't analyze experience.
Consciousness has no opinion about experience.
Consciousness can be aware of sound.
But the consciousness itself is silent.
Consciousness can be aware of thoughts.
But consciousness is not made out of thoughts.
Consciousness is made out of the awareness that is aware of thought.
And that awareness is peaceful,
Silent,
Still.
So continually withdraw from experience.
Notice this consciousness is undisturbed.
And this consciousness that is always peaceful and undisturbable is always present.
You can't experience anything in life without consciousness.
So any time life has become.
.
.
Stressful,
Chaotic,
You find yourself suffering.
You have this space of pure consciousness that you can return to.
And therefore.
.
.
Finding true,
Lasting peace.
Thank you for doing this meditation with me today.
Thank you for following.
Take care.
Be well.
And stay present.
