This is a simple visualization technique suitable for total beginners, in which the participant is invited to observe thoughts coming and going with neutral indifference by regarding thoughts to be like clouds and awareness to be like the sky. Just like clouds, thoughts come, stay a while, and then go. This mindfulness-based visualization is very accurate as consciousness shares the same properties of being totally open, empty, and allowing, like the sky, no matter how many clouds there are, how long they have been there, or how big they are, we know they will pass. The sky is not changed, damaged, or affected in any way by any number of clouds and is always neutral, accepting, and allowing.
