With this body scan we are practicing to put awareness and attention in different parts of our body, practicing gently turning towards sensations (instead of avoiding), acknowledging and allowing them (instead of resisting), staying awhile and then moving on to the next body part. We are practicing being with unpleasant sensations such as pain and tension in a calmer state. This way we retrain our nervous system to be in a less reactive, stressed and aroused state, which allows for healing.
