Welcome to this root chakra meditation.
I want you to find a comfortable seat for you,
Wherever that might be,
Where you can be free of distractions from the outside world.
And maybe this has you sitting or lying down.
You can draw your focus inward by closing the eyes.
And begin drawing conscious awareness to your breath.
Begin and inhale deeply into the lungs and hold and release.
And again inhaling,
Allowing the rib cage to expand side to side and pausing for just a few seconds.
And let it all go.
And again drawing the inhale,
Drawing the breath down the length of the spine and release.
Now this time breathing normally for now.
We'll take another inhale together and this time draw your focus and awareness down to the very base of the spine,
The hook of the tailbone.
On your next inhale drawing in that breath all the way down to the root of the spine and letting it all go.
Let all the air pass through on your exhale.
And as you continue to breathe on your own time,
Draw that focus in your mind to the hook of the tailbone at the base of your spine.
And imagine a red light in this area.
This light is vibrant,
This light is glowing.
And with each inhale maybe it glows a little bit brighter,
It expands,
It widens.
And releasing on each exhale.
Begin to notice the points of contact that you have with the floor,
With the bed,
Maybe with a cushion on a chair.
And notice how you're being held right now.
Imagine from the parts of you that are connecting with this area that is grounding you.
Imagine roots that slowly begin to grow.
And maybe it follows along riding on the breath on your inhale as these roots grow,
Grounding you into the earth via whatever you're sitting on or lying on.
These roots continue to grow,
They continue to get more convoluted and they expand this web that continues going down deeper into the earth.
And as this web expands,
You notice and you feel how held you are.
And this intricate web that's forming,
That you are forming,
Is connected to the core of the earth,
Supporting all living beings.
And notice as you continue rooting down,
And you feel the stability and this groundedness,
Notice what happens to other parts of the spine.
Do you find length between the vertebrae?
Does the head gently lift off of the neck of the spine?
Do your shoulder blades feel like they're expanding laterally?
And you are expanding as you root down and ground.
Draw your awareness back to the breath and draw it back to the rib cage or the belly.
Notice how it fills the belly.
Notice the natural contraction on your exhale.
Notice the space created along the length of the spine.
Notice the natural clearing that takes place with each breath.
And draw in one more deep inhale all the way down into the root of the spine,
Holding at the top.
And exhale,
Release.
You can stay here as long as you'd like,
Or you may choose to open the eyes,
Returning back.
Namaste.
