Welcome to your practice.
Find a comfortable seat,
Placing your feet to the floor,
Your hands on your thighs.
Sit upright in a relaxed and comfortable position and close your eyes.
Take a full breath in.
Open your mouth and exhale.
Resting your mind on your breath and your body.
Simply settling into this practice as I describe for you why and how this present moment is exactly where you thrive.
In the Amazon rainforest there is a place,
A spot of land where ecosystems meet.
It's where the tributaries come together.
These places are revered in the river basin as sacred because it is at these junctures that plants and wildlife thrive more than in any other area on the river.
This special place is called the verge.
Imagine the feeling of living on the verge in the Amazon.
Imagine if like plants and wildlife the people who live on the verge thrive as well.
Is there a verge closer to home and if such a place exists how can we get there?
How can we live there?
How can we learn to thrive on the verge?
After much investigation and practice I've discovered you don't have to go deep into the rainforest to find the verge.
It is in fact available in every moment.
It's at your fingertips all the time because this moment is the verge.
In this exact moment there's a gap,
A split second of time when you're not quite in the past and not quite in the future.
In this moment you're on a threshold.
You are on the verge.
Do you feel it?
If you're distracted you may miss it.
You may speed right by it and just like that this gap in time will be gone forever.
The verge.
By nature it's fleeting.
It's elusive.
You can't quite hold on to it.
You can't quite search for it.
You simply need to show up in this moment on the verge.
Remember the verge.
This very moment is not only where nature thrives,
It's also where you thrive.
So allow yourself to rest in this knowing,
To rest in this moment without trying to find anything,
Without trying to achieve anything.
Resting in your body,
Resting in your breath,
Right here right now on the verge.
If you notice your mind wander,
If you notice you get distracted,
Simply return to your body and to your breath in this moment right here and right now without trying to find anything special,
Without trying to achieve anything.
Remember in this moment you thrive right here right now is exactly where you shine.
You Coming back to your breath,
Coming back to your body over and over.
You don't have to go deep into the rainforest to find the verge.
It's available to you in every moment.
It's always at your fingertips.
