Hello everyone,

My name is Kate.

Welcome to this brief guided meditation designed to support you through your grief.

Grief is an unpredictable and profound experience that can bring us to our most vulnerable state.

It often requires us to ground ourselves deeply,

Connecting with our innermost feelings.

Grief can manifest uniquely for each of us and our bodies often respond in their own ways.

We may grieve the loss of someone dear to us or experience collective grief or shared losses,

But grief can intersect with various aspects of our lives,

Resurfacing in many different forms.

For this practice,

The key to navigating grief is to simply be present with it.

So when you're ready,

Find a comfortable position for your body.

Begin to focus on your breath,

That one constant that you can always rely on.

Notice the rhythm of your breath and observe any areas where the breath might feel restricted or strained.

Just notice without judgment,

Focusing on the movement of your breath.

I invite you now to place a hand over your heart,

Feel the steady rhythm of your heartbeat and see if you can find it in yourself to send yourself some warmth and compassion.

Silently or aloud,

Offer yourself a few words of comfort.

It's okay to feel this way.

I am here for myself.

I honor my grief.

And I give myself permission to feel.

Approach your feelings with kindness,

Acceptance and a gentle understanding of your presence in this moment.

And if it feels challenging to imagine being a source of comfort for yourself,

Envision a loving energy enveloping you,

A source of support and healing.

And if you'd like,

Bring to mind someone or something that you are grateful for,

Even amidst your grief.

It could be a memory,

A person,

Even a moment of kindness.

And allow the sense of gratitude to fill your heart,

Gently softening your edges.

Imagine being held and uplifted by this loving kindness or this gratitude.

And feel supported without the need for change or intervention,

Just a gentle presence alongside you.

And allow the sense of support to bring a touch of relief and comfort.

Now take a moment to simply sit with it.

Stay with the rhythm of your breath or even your heartbeat for a few moments.

Allow kindness,

Allow softness to enter your body.

And give yourself a moment to simply be.

Remember that grieving is a process that takes time and it's okay to move through it at your own pace.

You are not alone.

When you feel ready,

Take a deep breath and gently begin to move and stretch your body,

Opening your eyes when you're ready to take in your surroundings once more.

Thank you for joining me in this practice.
