As a highly sensitive person,

You've probably heard the typical how-to-thrive self-care practices even from me,

Such as meditation,

Breath work,

Taking walks in nature,

And yes,

These are all crucial practices for us.

However,

I also think it's important to incorporate grounding practices throughout our whole day so we don't feel like we're just surviving to get to the next self-care practice,

But we're thriving because we feel grounded and rooted in our true self.

Blessings,

My name is Brenda Curie and I'm a holistic healer for highly sensitive souls.

Allow this time to be a sanctuary for you where you can awaken your sensitivity,

You can soften,

Heal,

And reconnect to your own inner wisdom.

I am so grateful that you are here with me today because in this episode,

I'm sharing five of my favorite grounding practices to help you feel more calm,

More centered,

And emotionally strong,

Especially when the world just feels like too much or too loud.

And these are practices that you can easily weave into your day.

You don't have to carve out a specific time for it like meditation or taking a walk in nature.

You can just incorporate it into your day.

The first one is we all need to eat.

The energy of the types of food that we eat are very important.

So eating foods that are more warm and dense will help us feel more grounded and in our body.

So if you eat meat or chicken,

These would be those types of dense foods.

Could also be healthy fats,

Avocados,

Coconut oil,

Nuts and seeds.

I would suggest if you have any digestive issues to soak the nuts and seeds.

That helps soften that protective coating.

And also root vegetables,

Carrots,

Sweet potatoes,

Foods that have a little more groundedness to them because we take in their energy.

Because for example,

If I eat too much light and airy foods,

Things like popcorn or rice cakes,

My brain is also going to feel very light and airy,

And sometimes it's hard for me to focus.

So incorporate some of those more dense,

Warm foods.

The next grounding practice you can incorporate into your day is when you're really overthinking things and you just have a lot of energy in your head,

Go to the soles of your feet.

I love massaging the soles of my feet.

I just use my thumbs and massage out the whole foot.

I'll do this as I'm maybe watching something on a screen and also really press in on the K1 acupressure point.

It's a great way to take all of that energy when we're overthinking and draw it down into our lower body,

Especially the soles of our feet,

Which connect us to the energy of the earth.

The next practice as an add-on bonus to massaging the soles of the feet is to use essential oils.

Many highly sensitives are sensitive to smell,

But not the typical essential oils like lavender or patchouli,

Although I do love those.

They're great.

I would recommend oils,

Therapeutic grade oils,

First of all,

That come from either the root or the bark of a tree.

This one is one of my favorites.

This is cedarwood.

Some other great oils would be sandalwood,

Vetiver,

Frankincense,

And myrrh.

You can put a drop of your grounding essential oil,

Rub it into the palms of your hands,

And then cup the hands near your face as you breathe in the oil.

You can also put it in a diffuser.

As an added bonus,

You can even massage the soles of your feet with that essential oil.

That is a great way,

Especially before bed,

To lie down and relax your body and mind.

Now,

The next grounding practice might surprise you.

However,

For all of my clients that struggle with boundaries,

I recommend for them to have a strength training program.

Yes,

You heard me correctly.

Now,

Notice I didn't say like bodybuilding or crazy CrossFit program,

But strength training,

Whether that's body-resistant exercises or light dumbbells.

But the beauty of a highly sensitive person is when we can feel our muscles activating and firing,

That outer strength easily translates into our inner strength.

So,

We feel our muscles activate and then release.

It can be as simple as tightening the fists and then on an exhale,

Releasing the hands out.

Obviously,

Be careful of any injuries that you may have,

But incorporating some type of strength within the body so we can feel that and we can embody inner strength within us,

Especially if we struggle with boundaries where we don't really feel that strength within ourselves to make that boundary.

And then the final grounding practice,

One of my absolute favorites because I am sensitive to sound,

Using certain sound frequencies can also help keep you grounded throughout your whole day.

Specifically,

The root chakra sulfeggio frequency of 396 hertz can be very helpful to feel grounded in your root chakra at the base of the spine all the way down the legs.

Also,

The Schumann resonance,

Which is 7.

83 hertz.

This is the frequency of the earth's surface.

There are many healing frequency music pieces that can be played throughout your whole day while you're working,

While you're doing housework,

But using specific healing sound frequencies can be very relaxing to your nervous system.

I hope you found these simple but effective grounding practices doable for your every day.

And let me know,

Which one are you going to try?

Which of the five sound most resonant to you?

If you found this helpful,

Please subscribe and share it with other sensitive souls.

And as always,

Blessings on your healing journey.

Some really great ideas I especially like the one about weights because as you said you can even just make a tight fist and let it go. I tried this with my breath and I think this will be a nice way to remember my strength when I’m in a situation when I really need to let someone know what my boundaries are. I’m going to try the rest especially the foot rubs which I love and the essential oils. I will see if I can do the music but usually that type of music makes me edgy. Thank you so much.
