Welcome.

Welcome to this life,

To this moment,

This breath.

Breathing in,

Letting it go.

Take a deep and even breath in and let it go.

Welcome to a hit of hope.

Most of us have been through something big in our lives.

Moments where we were asked to endure more than we thought we might be able to bear.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Those times can leave us feeling broken,

Shattered.

Our sense of wholeness gone.

It's hard to know what to do in times like that.

And because we are tender and tired,

It's tempting as hell to leave our fractured self in a haphazard pile.

Sitting there,

Sharp,

Broken,

Piercing.

Inhale.

Exhale.

By breathing in moments like that,

We can say,

I choose.

I choose right now not to damage myself more.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

When we do that,

We are saying,

I choose to bring fresh,

New life into myself.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

When we return to our breath,

To the basic rhythm of our lives,

We might be able to turn toward those fragments.

To see that each moment we live is like a tiny little tile.

Just like those that make up a beautiful mosaic.

Some of the most beautiful mosaics are made up of broken shards.

Things that used to be whole,

Now shattered.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Most of us have been through something big in our lives.

Those times might have left us feeling broken.

Shattered.

It might be hard to feel whole in moments like that.

But if we can choose to become a creator,

If we can see our life as a mosaic,

We can say,

I choose.

I choose to take these fragments and intentionally place them into the bigger picture.

Inhale.

Exhale.

We can say,

I choose to be deliberate about taking what is and snuggling it up against something else.

I choose to find the good glue that helps me hold things together.

I choose to do the quiet work and see what beautiful thing I can make out of it.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Make the bold choice to say,

I choose.

I choose to pick up the shards gently,

Carefully,

And place them into my big picture intentionally.

And when we do,

What rare wonders will get revealed?

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Center.

Settle.

And do the quiet work of putting together a whole and wondrous you.

Live light.

Once more, your timing is astounding. Just yesterday, I resolved that the time had finally come to turn the blog I kept while serving as my wife's caregiver into the book it was always intended to be. She's been gone almost 27 months now, and I believe I can finally face the 300+ printed pages of the blog and organize/edit/narrate them into a narrative of the truth of the impact of Alzheimer's on the patient and the caregiver as well. I believe that this book is a part of my dharma through which I must travel in order to open up to the next chapter of my own life; a task which must be executed to cleanse my soul, even if not one other soul ever actually reads it. This is my mosaic. These are my broken, sharp and dangerous shards. This is my gateway to the rest of my life.

Midnight here. What a lovely analogy. I ve kept favorite broken things to do just that...mosaics Was going to email Tomfoolery's latest poem in reaction to finding out about a suicide. Its really poignant(if you have time to listen) which ironically is one of his points. Very easy to fracture in a heap on the floor but "choosing" to put yourself back together is hard. Had to delete heaps to listen tonight but so glad I did. 🙏🌞👱🐱
