Welcome.
My name is Genevieve Turner.
I am a clinical therapist,
Yoga and meditation guide.
I am honored that you have chosen to join me in this space as we explore the art of choice through practice.
Practice is the act of carrying out or performing a particular activity,
Method,
Or custom as habit or a part of your regular routine.
I've heard people say that they don't like to practice.
I've also been a person who has said that they don't like to practice.
That was until I was challenged to think about both the good and bad things that I've mastered through the act of practice and choice.
An example of practice might look like having ice cream every day after work or choosing to sit in silence for five minutes while mindfully noticing the sensations in your body as you breathe in and out.
Practice could look like spending hours running to build endurance or sitting on the couch watching Netflix,
Avoiding the emails that seem to never stop coming.
The beautiful thing about practice is it gives you the opportunity to make a choice.
Whether you choose to actively practice a particular skill set or avoid choices altogether,
You are practicing the art of choice.
If it feels comfortable for you or you are in a space where you can close your eyes or soften your gaze,
I invite you to do that.
If not,
This meditation can still be played in the background and you'll receive the benefits.
Take a moment and check in with your breath.
Are you breathing quickly?
Are you breathing slowly?
Are you breathing?
If you have given yourself permission to close your eyes or soften your gaze,
As you inhale,
Check in with the muscles of your face.
And as you exhale,
Try to relax.
Relax your brow bone.
Unclench your jaw.
Release your shoulders.
Settle into your body.
Settle into this moment.
A moment of practice.
And choice.
As our time comes to a close here,
I invite you to consider the things you choose to practice and what practice means to you.
My name is Genevieve Turner.
Thank you so much for showing up for yourself and allowing me to be here with you.
