Loneliness,
What is that?
Loneliness is feeling sad and unhappy about being socially isolated.
Feeling sad and unhappy about being socially isolated.
Hi,
My name is Genevieve Turner and I'm a yoga and meditation guide.
And I'm honored that you selected this meditation for your practice today.
As you arrive,
Come into a comfortable seat.
You can be laying down or you can be sitting and you're gonna keep your eyes open through this meditation.
I was in a class and I heard one of the instructors say,
We live our lives with our eyes open 90% of the time.
Let's try it in meditation.
Thanks,
LaWanda.
So as you arrive in your comfortable seat or your seat,
Your seat could be uncomfortable.
It's how you perceive it.
Connect with your breath.
Take an inhale through your nose and exhale out your mouth.
Do that three more times.
Notice if you've closed your eyes.
Notice if you feel uncomfortable.
As you inhale through your nose,
Breathe at the count of three.
And as you exhale,
Release at the count of five.
Let's do it together.
Inhale,
One,
Two,
Three.
Exhale,
Five,
Four,
Three,
Two,
One.
Now you do it at your own pace.
Noticing the thoughts that may be coming up as you sit.
When was the time that you felt socially isolated?
When was the time that you felt socially isolated?
Where did you feel it in your body?
Where did you feel it in your body?
If your mind has started to wander,
That's okay.
It's honestly a part of the practice.
Just come back to your breath.
Inhale for three,
Two,
One.
Exhale for one,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five.
If your eyes are still open on your next inhale,
Go ahead and close them and exhale.
Keeping your eyes closed,
Take note of how your thoughts may have shifted from the beginning of this practice to now.
Coming back to the idea that loneliness is feeling sad or unhappy about being socially isolated.
And think about how have you isolated yourself?
How have you isolated yourself?
In what ways are you willing to show up differently?
Today,
I invite you to spend time getting to know yourself.
Try something new.
Maybe you'll enjoy it.
Again,
Thank you so much for choosing this practice today.
I'm Genevieve Turner.
And until next time,
Be well.
