Hello and welcome meditators to this Finding Your Flow meditation.
The truth of the matter is this.
Many of us live in a culture that glamorizes hustle,
Productivity,
Achievement,
And popularity.
We are taught that more is better and don't ever stop.
And because of this,
We tend to measure our value and our worth on external measurements that we didn't even create.
Essentially,
Sometimes we end up living our lives by someone else's expectations and standards.
We sacrifice our health,
Our sleep,
Time with our families in order to meet deadlines,
Please other people do more and be more.
However,
Just by knowing this and bringing this to the forefront of our awareness puts us in a powerful position to change it.
And as Dr.
Maya Angelou once said,
When we know better,
We do better.
Look around you.
Everything has a rhythm.
Everything has a heartbeat.
When autumn comes around,
The leaves let go with ease.
And when spring arises,
The flowers effortlessly bloom.
The moon waxes and wanes.
The sun rises and sets.
The tides go in and out.
Bears hibernate.
Birds fly south for the winter.
When we too have a rhythm and a flow,
Our hearts beat,
Our lungs breathe,
We wake and we sleep.
When we are in tune with our unique rhythms,
We thrive.
Taking a moment here to find yourself in a comfortable seat.
Sitting up nice and tall.
Hands can rest gently in your lap.
Allowing yourself to be grounded and present in this moment.
And as you sit here,
Start to notice that gentle rhythm of your breath.
Notice how the body breathes for you.
You don't have to tell the lungs what to do.
They simply breathe.
Notice this rhythm.
Notice the ease as the breath breathes in and out.
As you continue to watch the ease and the rhythm of this breath,
Feel free to maybe gently start swaying back and forth.
Connecting to the rhythm of the breath and the body.
Maybe very subtle and slow at first.
Allowing yourself to get in tune.
To get in tune with how the body likes to move.
As you gently sway back and forth connecting with this rhythm,
Feel free to add arms,
Head,
Hips.
Let it be easy.
Let it be natural.
And now slowly,
Slowly starting to come back to center.
Spending your time here.
Eventually landing with the spine nice and straight.
This can rest gently in the lap once again.
And if you feel comfortable taking hands to heart center.
Placing your hands directly on your heart.
Bringing all of your awareness into your heartbeat.
Bringing this awareness to this amazing rhythm.
This unique rhythm of yours.
What is your natural rhythm?
What is your natural flow in life?
When are you most energized,
Creative,
And alive?
What drains you?
What feels easy?
What's possible for you if you listen to your own natural rhythm and flow?
Feeling out the breath here.
On your inhale,
Sweeping the arms out and up overhead.
At the very top of your inhale,
The palms touch.
And exhale,
Draw the hands down to heart center nice and slow.
Standing with your rhythm,
Your breath,
At the bottom of the exhale,
Hands back at heart center.
Two more times.
Inhale,
Let it be easy.
Sweep the arms up and overhead.
Shoulders stay relaxed.
Palms touch at the top.
And exhale,
Let it go.
Drawing the hands back down through heart center.
One more time here.
Inhale,
Sweeping the arms up and overhead.
At the very top of your inhale,
The palms touch.
And exhale,
Let it go.
Drawing the hands back down through heart center,
The very bottom of the exhale,
Hands right on your heart.
Today I honor the unique and natural rhythm of my life.
I will listen to what energizes me.
I will notice where I feel drained.
I will follow my joy.
Today I will honor the unique and natural rhythm of my life.
Take a breath.
And so it is.
