Good evening,
My name is Ashley,
And if you're listening to this,
It means you've woken up and need a little help falling back to sleep.
For the next 45 minutes,
I'll be right here,
Helping your mind and body gently relax,
Let go,
And drift gently back to sleep.
There's nothing for you to do,
But breathe deeply and follow along.
Waking up at night is a natural part of how the body and mind work,
So there's no need to resist it or try to fall asleep.
Together,
We'll gently ease you into a state of peaceful,
Restful sleep.
Let's start by settling into a comfortable position.
Whether you're lying on your back,
Or curled up on your side,
Whatever feels best for you.
Take a moment to adjust your body,
Snuggle up under your blankets and sheets,
And feel the support of the surface beneath you,
Absorbing your weight and holding you steady,
Noticing how it holds you completely,
Effortlessly,
And without judgment.
And with each deep breath,
Feel yourself sinking a little deeper into relaxation,
Knowing you are safe,
Supported,
And exactly where you need to be.
Closing your eyes,
Just enjoy a slow,
Deep breath in through the nose,
And then exhale fully through the mouth,
Letting any tension in the body and mind melt away,
Drawing your attention to your feet and legs,
Seeing if you notice any tension there.
And with your next exhale,
Allow your feet and legs to fully relax,
Allowing any tension to melt down into your bed and disappear down into the earth.
Thank you feet for carrying me through my day.
Thank you legs for helping me get where I need to go.
Slowly move your awareness up through the hips and lower back,
Breathing into these areas a sense of ease,
And as you exhale,
Feeling these areas letting go of any tightness and melt into your bed.
With each exhale,
Seeing if you can release just a little more tension,
Allowing your body and mind to relax even more.
Bringing your attention now to your abdomen and chest,
Feeling the natural rhythm of your breath rising and falling,
Flowing gently in and out.
With each inhale,
Imagine a soothing light filling your lungs,
And with each exhale,
Letting that light melt down with your breath into your bed and deep into the earth,
Carrying away any tension.
Shifting your focus to your shoulders,
Arms,
And hands,
Allowing them to grow heavy and soft.
Thank you hands for all you do for me each day.
Thank you arms for helping me move through life.
Finally,
Moving to your neck,
Jaw,
And face,
Letting go of any tightness in the jaw area,
Smoothing the space between your eyebrows,
And feeling your entire face soften.
Feeling all the little muscles of the face,
Relaxing and letting go.
Noticing if there is any other area that would like to relax a little bit more,
And breathing into this area,
Imagining oxygen flowing into this space.
And expanding.
And then exhale,
Feeling any tension melt away and sink down into the earth.
Taking a moment to sense your whole body resting in this state of relaxation,
Feeling supported and at ease.
Even a wakeful moment is part of a healthy night of rest.
Your body and mind are recalibrating,
Integrating the day's experiences,
And preparing you for tomorrow.
This process happens naturally,
Without any effort needed,
Like the rhythm of your breath.
And the beating of your heart.
Rest is about more than sleep.
It's about giving yourself space to simply be.
Waking up briefly is a natural part of how the brain cycles through sleep stages,
Transitioning from one phase to the next.
Sometimes your mind lingers awake for a while,
And that's okay.
It's just part of the process.
Your thoughts may wander to the past,
Or to the future,
As your brain processes emotions,
Memories,
Hopes,
And dreams.
There's no need to resist or engage with these thoughts.
They're a sign of your brain doing its important work,
Supporting you even now.
If you like,
You might picture a calm,
Clear,
Starry night sky above a wide open meadow.
Any thoughts that arise are like clouds drifting across the open sky.
You can simply notice them without judgment.
When a thought comes,
You can imagine gently placing it on a cloud and watching it float away.
With each exhale,
Seeing the cloud drift further into the distance,
Reminding yourself that you are safe to let go of any worries or concerns right now.
With every breath,
Your mind becomes more spacious,
More open,
And there is nothing you need to figure out.
There's no judgment here.
Waking up at night is a normal part of sleep.
Treat yourself with kindness and patience,
Knowing that this time to yourself is valuable.
Whether you fall back to sleep right away,
Or simply relax and rest in this peaceful state,
Each moment of relaxation nourishes your mind and body,
Preparing you for the day ahead.
Nighttime is a sacred time,
A chance to let go of striving,
To set aside worries and embrace stillness.
You can trust the wisdom of your brain and body,
Knowing that rest will come in its own time.
By creating space for calm and ease,
You allow yourself to drift back into sleep naturally,
Supported by the quiet confidence that all is well.
Bringing our focus now to gratitude,
You might think of one thing you're grateful for in this moment.
It could be the comfort of your bed,
The sound of your breath,
Or the love of someone in your life.
Letting this gratitude fill your heart and soothe your mind,
And silently affirm to yourself,
I am at peace with this moment.
I trust in the flow of life.
I am safe and held.
I am exactly where I need to be.
I welcome rest into my body and mind.
I let go of what no longer serves me.
I relax into calm,
Ease,
And stillness.
Like gentle waves lapping against the shore,
May these simple words remind you of the safety and abundance surrounding you,
Even in this quiet moment of stillness.
As you rest here,
You're welcome to reflect on a few gentle questions.
There's no need to think hard or search for answers.
You might simply let the questions settle softly in your mind,
Consider them in its own quiet way.
Or even to answer them fully,
Simply notice what thoughts or feelings arise,
Like gentle ripples on the surface of water,
Letting them come and go.
Being with them in just the way they need to.
What is one thing your body and your life is a source of support or comfort for your true self,
And what do they believe about themselves?
What would you like to nurture and grow?
What is one thing you'd like to invite more of into your life?
What is one small act of kindness you can offer yourself tomorrow?
If you could give yourself one loving message in this moment,
What would it be?
What is one thing you are already doing well with that deserves your recognition and time?
Resting in the quiet presence of your breath,
Letting the rhythm of these questions.
You might imagine yourself beside a gentle flowing river.
You might picture the water moving steadily over smooth streams.
You might notice the soothing sound of the current.
Perhaps you feel the soft grass beneath you as you sit near the river's edge.
Maybe there's a gentle breeze on your skin,
Or the faint fresh scent of water.
And earth.
Noticing how it feels to simply sit and be without needing to do anything at all.
If it feels right,
You might picture the river as a safe place to let go.
With each breath in,
You imagine the river gently gathering anything that feels heavy.
Tension,
Worries,
Or lingering thoughts.
And as you exhale,
Perhaps see those thoughts being carried downstream,
Dissolving into the steady flow.
Sparkling softly like tiny stars,
Allowing it to remind you of the peace and clarity available to you in this moment.
Seeing if you can allow yourself to feel a little lighter.
As though the river is washing away any tension,
Helping you release and push.
There's no need to force anything.
You might notice how your breath moves in and out on its own,
Just like the river flows without effort.
You can rest in this knowing that your mind and body know how to relax.
You're welcome to linger here as long as you like.
Feeling the earth supporting your body,
And the quiet rhythm of the river calming your mind.
Trusting that,
Just like the water,
All is well.
And as you sit quietly by the river,
Your gaze might drift upward to the star-filled sky above.
The vast expanse stretching endlessly,
Dotted with countless points of soft,
Steady light.
The stars feel timeless,
As if they've always been there,
And always will be,
Quietly watching over the world below.
A gentle glow,
Like they're offering you a quiet reassurance that everything is as it should be.
The steady rhythm of the river flows beside you,
Mirroring the peaceful stillness of the sky.
And if a thought arises,
You might imagine placing it on one of the stars above you.
Letting its light dissolve the thought for you.
There's nothing else you need to do with these thoughts.
You can just let them rest,
Leaving your mind more spacious and clear.
Like maybe the stars above remind you of the quiet beauty in simply being.
You are part of this stillness,
Part of this miracle of the universe.
Letting the night cradle you,
The stars shining softly above,
The earth holding you steady below,
And the river flowing softly beside you.
And as you rest here,
You might silently affirm to yourself,
I am safe and held in this moment.
I trust the natural rhythm of life.
I release what no longer serves me.
I am surrounded by peace and calm.
My mind is spacious and clear.
I welcome deep rest into my body and mind.
Letting these gentle words settle within you,
Like the stars gently shining above,
Steady and unchanging.
Each word carrying with it a quiet assurance,
Reminding you of the calm that surrounds you,
And the stillness always available within.
And letting yourself sink even deeper into relaxation.
With each breath,
Your body feels heavier,
Your mind quieter,
Your spirit more at ease.
There is nothing you need to do,
Nowhere else you need to be.
You are enough just as you are,
Right here,
Right now.
And as your mind softens and your body relaxes,
You can gently repeat to yourself,
I release all tension.
My body feels free.
I let go of the need to control.
Peace flows through me with every breath.
I welcome rest into my body and mind.
My heart is calm and my mind is clear.
I am surrounded by comfort and safety.
Each breath brings me closer to deep relaxation.
I trust my body to restore itself with ease.
I trust my mind to process the learnings of the day.
I let go of today and embrace this moment of rest.
My mind is quiet,
My body is still,
And I am at peace.
Knowing that every exhale releases more of what no longer serves you.
You are letting go of the day,
Letting go of any worries,
And allowing space for calm to fill you.
This moment is your time to rest and restore.
If your mind begins to wander,
Notice those thoughts with kindness.
And gently guide your attention back to your breath.
You don't need to engage with these thoughts.
They are like visitors passing through,
Birds landing in a field and then flying away,
Disappearing into the sky.
With every exhale,
Let them drift further away,
Leaving you with clarity and calm.
You can trust your body and mind to do what they need to do.
Even now,
Your body is healing.
Your nervous system is settling.
And your mind is quietly preparing you for the day ahead.
And you are safe to relax in this process,
And silently affirm to yourself,
My body knows how to relax,
My mind is free to release.
I trust the rest will come in its own time.
I am wrapped in peace and ease.
I receive the healing power of sleep.
My breath guides me gently into stillness.
I am safe,
Supported,
And at peace.
I release the day and embrace the quiet of night.
My thoughts float by like clouds,
Leaving only calm behind.
I surrender to rest,
Knowing it restores me fully.
Every part of me softens and lets go.
I welcome sleep with an open heart and a peaceful mind.
Feeling yourself enveloped in a warm sense of comfort,
As though the universe itself is holding you in a gentle embrace.
Every part of you,
Your body,
Mind,
And spirit is supported.
You are exactly where you need to be.
Allowing yourself to sink even further now.
With each breath,
You are floating into a space of deep serenity.
Your body feels heavy yet light at the same time,
Completely releasing any effort.
Your breath flows effortlessly,
Steady and natural,
Guiding you deeper into rest.
As you repeat softly in your mind,
I surrender to this moment of peace.
All is well and I am at ease.
I trust myself to release and recharge.
Sleep comes to me effortlessly and naturally.
I am surrounded by calm and stillness.
My body is a sanctuary of rest and renewal.
My breath carries me gently into deeper relaxation.
I trust in the healing power of rest,
Held in the quiet embrace of the night.
My mind slows,
My body softens,
And peace flows through me.
Each moment brings me closer to deep,
Restorative sleep.
Letting the rhythm of your breath anchor you in this peaceful state.
Inhaling deeply,
Exhaling fully,
Inhaling calm.
You are simply resting in the quiet beauty of this moment,
Knowing that everything is as it should be,
And you are exactly where you need to be.
Your body and mind are resetting,
Recharging,
Preparing you,
Taking comfort in this moment,
Letting the peace you've cultivated carry you.
Into a deep,
Restorative sleep.
