Let's very quickly go around the body,

Just to let your body really feel the difference between tension and relaxation.

So squeezing the muscles in your legs,

Holding and gripping,

And then allowing your legs to settle back down.

Good,

And then raising your hips,

Squeezing your muscles,

Holding and gripping and then allowing your hips to settle back down and give up the weight,

Let the weight go.

And then press your lower back gently down into the surface that you're resting on,

And then releasing and letting go.

Good,

Tensing your abdomen and your chest and all of the muscles in your back,

And then allowing your whole upper body to soften back down.

Good,

And then squeezing a tight fist,

Pressing your fingers into your palms,

Holding and gripping,

Spreading your fingers out wide,

Tensing your upper arms and then allowing your arms to settle back down and releasing that weight.

Good,

And then just for a moment raise your head,

Feel how heavy the head is,

And then lay your head to rest and again give up the weight,

Let the weight of this whole body be held.

And let's just take a moment to acknowledge the very simple shift that we're making together now.

A shift from doing to being,

It kind of feels like a dropping.

And let's take a nice deep releasing breath together so that your mind body system receives a signal that this is a time of gentleness and ease.

So nice deep breath down into your belly,

Hunching your shoulders right up to your ears,

And then let your body go ah.

And in your own time and at your own pace,

Take a few more of these very slow,

Low,

Releasing breaths.

Finally take your time and slow your breath right down with just the lightest touch of effort.

So no forcing,

No grasping or pushing,

But the breath itself flowing with ease,

Really low.

Right down into your belly,

Tummy filling up as you breathe in without that forcing,

It's the breath that is causing the abdomen to rise.

No pushing and then just give the exhalation away with a lovely long and soft sigh.

Taking your time so that your nervous system knows that it's safe to drop,

Dropping into the vertical,

Down into the space of just being,

That lovely space where you just are and everything just is,

Where whatever happens,

It's just as it should be,

Where there's no right or wrong way for the meditation to unfold.

And it feels like a softening down,

Dropping like a pebble as it drops into a pond and lands in the earth.

Let us hear moment by moment every sound,

Every sensation,

Every thought.

Let whatever's happening on the horizontal,

On the surface of experience,

Just allowing that to unfold without any interaction,

Without any story,

Without any naming or meaning,

But there's just sounds happening,

The feeling of your body and the movement of your breath.

See if just for now you can stay with the feeling of your breath as body breathes.

Can you feel that very gentle whisper of breath and see if you can stay with the experience body breathing.

Paying your full attention to that very subtle sensation and hand everything over,

It's like we are coming to an altar,

The altar of presence,

Placing everything that we know on that altar and dropping into the mystery,

The unknown,

Which requires a willingness,

A willingness to drop into the unknown,

A willingness to leave everything behind as we drop into the vertical.

To truly rest there,

We can't take anything with us from the horizontal.

So just letting it all go,

Letting it all go.

Feel the inside of your mouth,

Tongue,

Root of the tongue,

Hinges of the jaw softening,

The softening of the throat,

Shoulders sinking down,

Let your shoulders empty out,

Emptying out onto this altar of presence,

Handing everything over,

A softening of the whole face,

The skin,

Eyes resting back,

Giving up the weight of your whole body,

The bones and every muscle and so grateful to be relieved of all the holding,

Eyes softening right back.

The feeling behind eyes at rest,

Eyebrows,

Space between eyebrows,

Softening open,

Letting go,

Open,

Brain releasing and letting go.

Let thought be free,

Let thought continue to do whatever it's doing on the horizontal surface of your experience,

Just like ripples arising and dissolving.

I'm not asking you to control your mind,

I'm not asking you to stop thinking but to just drop before thought,

Before the thinker.

You are,

And I'm asking you to do nothing,

To do absolutely nothing,

And to notice all these subtle layers of doing as they arise and to unhook again and again.

There is a natural awakeness in this vertical space of being.

So you don't need to try to stay awake.

Just being here is enough.

Just taking a moment to check in.

Could you release a deeper layer of the weight of this body?

Letting that weight go,

Body held.

Could you make even less effort?

Welcome the feeling right hand.

Just the sensation.

The back of right hand.

The palm.

See if you can stay.

Thumb.

Second finger.

Third.

Fourth.

Little finger.

Resting open.

Welcome the feeling right palm.

The aliveness.

Perhaps the sensation of heat.

The sensation of heat,

A mass of heat arising in me.

Awareness.

Allow that sensation to unfold naturally.

Forearm.

Elbow.

Upper arm.

Arm pit.

Right side of chest.

Right side of the back.

Waist.

Hip.

Thigh.

Knee.

Back of knee.

Shin.

Calf.

Ankle.

Heel.

Soul of right foot.

Top of the foot.

Big toe.

Second.

Third.

Fourth.

Little toe.

The whole right side of body.

Releasing and letting go.

You are aware.

You are present.

Conscious.

Being.

Know yourself as that openness and regardless of whatever is happening on the surface,

You are here in that space,

You are untouched.

Sensations,

Pleasant or unpleasant,

May arise and dissolve.

Consciousness may come and go.

But this that you are,

This mystery that can't be named,

That has no location,

Is untouched,

Ultimately and utterly at one with every appearance and yet undisturbed.

So I'm calling you back right now to that,

To just being.

To that gentleness.

To that place of effortless surrender.

A surrender that you don't need to do.

And now welcome the feeling left hand.

The whole experience left hand.

Let it come to you without any effort.

Back of left hand.

Pure sensation.

Thumb.

Second finger.

Third.

Fourth.

Little finger.

Resting open.

The sensation left palm.

A pulsation.

Perhaps the sensation heat.

Let the label drop away.

And let there be a direct meeting of the raw sensation.

Left palm.

Forearm.

Elbow.

Upper arm.

Shoulder.

Left side of chest.

Center of the chest.

Heart.

Beating.

Left side of back.

Waist.

Hip.

Thigh.

Knee.

Back of knee.

Chin.

Calf.

Ankle.

Heel.

Soul of left foot.

Top of the foot.

Big toe.

Second.

Third.

Fourth.

Little toe.

Releasing and letting go.

The whole left side of body.

Softening.

Spine.

Releasing and letting go.

Tailbone sinking down.

Softening deep down in the abdomen.

In the gut.

This whole body.

This whole body placed on that altar of presence.

To be held.

To be given that warm bath.

Of allowing to empty out.

Whilst you remain.

As you naturally are in every moment.

Spacious and free.

Give up any remaining attachment.

To what's happening in the realm of mind,

Body or world.

Give yourself a break.

And let yourself drop.

Right here.

Right now.

Into the healing balm of just being.

I'm right here with you.

Resting in that space.

And any time that you get pulled out.

In that moment that you notice.

Just drop back here again.

Just let the mystery unfold.

With no story.

Deep.

You You You You You You You You You You You You You Just being Just being Just really soak up Soak up that sweetness Every cell of this body Drinking in that nourishment The nourishment of peace At the core of your own being Just let your body drink that in Feel this whole body Welcoming the experienced body Before any memory Before any idea Before any history Just right now The light body The waves of vibration The pulsation This mass of sensation The relaxed brain Right side of brain When we get really quiet within we can feel The relaxed brain Left side of the brain A softening and an opening Of that knot of tension behind the eyes As we give up the identity With thought and feeling Wide open Knowing this space within yourself that can never be overwhelmed That no matter what waves appear on the surface Nothing could overwhelm your being And if it's here There has already been a consenting,

A yes Let's take a few really slow,

Really deep breaths together Allowing that breath to flow with ease Low into your belly Wide into your chest And abandoning the exhalation with a long and soft sigh Let your whole body breathe every cell,

Drinking in that fresh life giving breath And that lovely opportunity to let whatever is not needed drop away as you breathe out And just spending a few moments now recalling what called you here today Your heart's deepest longing for your life Perhaps what this mind body system needs Just acknowledging of what's needed and beyond that what your heart longs for And it's all given,

Trust that your prayer for your life has been heard Witnessed Seen All we are ever asked to deal with is the current moment,

The current sensation,

The current thought Let's keep taking a few of those lovely slow and deep breaths And I'm going to invite you now to either continue to rest in that space Or to let your body move as and when it's ready And see if you can stay anchored in the vertical as mind and body move if not now but when they're ready When all the stories return When mind body and world reappear in awareness See if you can stay anchored,

Not losing yourself,

Just staying anchored in this aspect of yourself that could never be overwhelmed No matter what waves appear and the more that we stop and we drop The more we build that resilience,

The more we know ourselves and stand as that The waves can come but we ride them anchored in being May you be well May you be at peace May you be happy Thank you,

Thank you for bringing your full presence,

For committing to this time together So continue to give yourself a break,

Go easy on yourself Bringing kindness and gentleness,

Deep care for the human and all that it's asked to meet May you be well
