Welcome to your new moon nidra,

Helping you to tap into the powerful new moon energy of new beginnings and manifesting your most heartfelt dreams.

To begin,

Finding your most comfortable position to lie down,

Grabbing any pillows or blankets to make sure that you're fully supported,

The body melting into the earth as you start to settle in,

Feet to hip distance apart,

Your shoulders melt away from the ears,

Your arms are long beside your body,

Palms facing up towards the moon,

An invitation to close down the eyes if you haven't already,

Using your breath to begin to settle in and bringing the new moon to mind.

Unlike the full moon which is big and glowing and bright,

The new moon is dark and veiled,

The whole moon is black,

Hidden by the dark sky,

But don't be fooled that nothing's happening,

It marks the start of a phase of possibility and that darkness and nothingness is pregnant with opportunity.

Resting here for a few minutes with this dark still new moon energy permeating your body and mind,

Beginning to connect to your new moon wishes,

Bringing each of these to mind as a heartfelt intention,

Hugging them closely,

Imagining how you would feel if these new moon wishes were brought to life,

Bringing as much detail to mind as you possibly can,

Making these intentions as vivid as possible,

Feeling all of the energy and emotions these wishes fulfilled would bring.

Resting here for a few more minutes,

Bathing in the possibility and the magic that this new moon can bring,

Focusing on the heart space,

The heart to be full and grateful as you make your wishes and send them out into the night,

Holding the magic of heartfelt intention for just a few more breaths.

Now have the resolve to set an intention to let everything go,

Giving up all responsibility,

You've created your vision and intentions and harness this beautiful new moon energy to set in motion what you'd like to receive in the next four weeks and beyond.

Now the best thing you can do is fully surrender to nature,

Letting go of all worldly concerns and trust the moon and the universe have heard you.

This practice of yoga nidra invites you to enter into a state even beyond the deepest state of relaxation,

Giving space for the hopes and dreams you've had visions off to take root and germinate in the night.

As you rest in profound peace,

Settling into the comfort of being fully supported and held by mother earth beneath you,

Taking a moment to connect to the natural breath,

Just noting how the breath moves through the body as you breathe in and out.

Every inhale fills the body up with a sense of calm and every exhale takes away a layer of stress or tension.

Bones are heavy and grounded,

Your muscles beginning to gently ease and soften.

A sense of deep release and relaxation sinks into your body as you allow the earth beneath you to fully support your weight,

Allowing your awareness to slowly sink deeper into the inner body,

The experience just below the surface,

Following the hypnotic rhythm of your own unique breath.

This practice of new moon yoga nidra now invites you to bring your awareness to the heart space at the center of the chest,

Just being present with the heart in any way that feels natural for you in this moment,

Offering yourself the space and permission to linger here.

As you rest,

Perhaps connecting to your inner wisdom,

A sense of calm,

A sense of your pure self.

Perhaps after being present with yourself in this way,

You can expand your awareness to imagine the body as a representation of the night sky.

As you're guided through,

Allow your awareness to rotate around the body at each place that's mentioned,

Bringing to mind a beautiful bright star-like presence,

Star-like awareness.

Beginning this journey around the night sky of the body at the crown of your head,

Bright star-like presence at the crown of your head,

Third eye,

Eyebrow center,

Witness a bright star of visionary awareness here,

Throat center between the two collarbones,

Bright star of awareness,

And over to the right side,

Inviting the awareness to be present at the shoulder,

Bright star of awareness at the shoulder,

Stars at the right elbow,

Right wrist,

And each of the stars on the right hand in turn,

Fingers and thumb,

Five little stars,

One,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five.

Returning once again to the star at the right wrist,

Star at the right elbow,

And star at the right shoulder.

Coming now to the star between the two collarbones at the throat center,

And across now to the left side of the body,

Star-like presence in the left shoulder,

At the left elbow a bright star,

Left wrist a bright star,

Invitation to welcome the little stars of presence on all the fingers and thumb,

One,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five little stars.

Perhaps returning to the star-like presence at the left wrist,

Left elbow,

Left shoulder a star here,

And the star between the two collarbones,

Star of presence at the throat center,

Center of the throat,

Bringing awareness now down to the heart center,

Star-like presence of awareness in the heart space,

And stars at the left side of the chest and the right side of the chest,

And again at the heart center,

Star-like presence of awareness here,

Invitation to come down to the navel center,

Star of visionary awareness here,

And in the center of the pubic triangle a bright luminous star shining here.

Across now to the right side,

The right hip,

A star here,

Stars at the right knee,

Right ankle,

And stars on the toes of the right foot,

One,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five little stars.

Back to the star on the right ankle,

Right knee,

And right hip,

Across to the star of the pubic triangle,

An invitation to come now to the star on the left side,

Bright star on the left hip,

Bright star of awareness at the left knee,

Bright star on the left ankle,

And each of the toes of the left foot in turn,

One,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five little stars.

Back to the star at the left ankle,

Left knee,

Left hip,

Before coming once again to that bright star at the center of the pubic triangle,

Star at the navel center,

Star at the heart center,

Heart center,

Throat center,

Between the two collarbones,

Star at the third eye,

Eyebrow center,

Crown of the head,

Star at the eyebrow center,

Star at the throat center,

Star at the heart center,

At the heart center,

Bright shining star.

Perhaps now in this moment allowing the awareness to expand,

Taking in the whole constellation,

Whole constellation of stars in the night sky of the body,

All of these stars like visionary lights of awareness,

Illuminating the night sky of your body,

Whole constellation of stars in the night sky of the body,

The entire body,

Entire body,

Entire body,

Entire body lit up like the night sky.

And perhaps in this moment taking this opportunity to really feel those stars of awareness rooted in the body herself,

And maybe the next time an inhale comes,

Feeling those stars expand outside of the body,

And as the breath comes and goes,

Perhaps shifting between these two forms of awareness,

As the exhale leaves the stars settle deeper into the body,

Awareness from an inward place,

And as the inhale arrives,

The stars expand out to space,

A wider perception of awareness,

Exhaling inner awareness of the body,

Inhaling a more expansive awareness,

Exhaling deep inside of the body,

Inhaling wide spacious expansion,

Exhaling inwards,

Inhaling expansive,

Inward,

Expansive.

And what might it be like in this moment to experience the two forms of awareness at the same time,

This very deep inward awareness,

And the more expansive awareness,

What might it be like to experience both at the same time,

In unison,

And in this presence of both forms of awareness,

Taking this opportunity to be present with what is revealed by this illumination,

This visionary awareness,

Resting here in a state of expansion and bliss,

In between states of awareness.

Knowing this practice is soon coming to a close,

Can you allow the awareness to drift and float for a few precious moments of surrender and rest,

Perhaps gathering the awareness at the back of the heart space and resting there in any ways that feel natural,

Comfortable,

And open to simply being here with whatever's present as we bathe in the energy of the new moon,

The whole body is relaxed,

Grounded,

Open,

Allowing yourself to fully open and rest,

And I'll guide you back out shortly,

Gently bringing some deeper breaths back into your body,

Feeling the sensation of your belly expanding as you breathe in and softening back down as you breathe out,

Taking a few moments here to come back to the present moment,

And the space around you,

Knowing that your new moon intentions have been seeded out into the universe,

Taking a moment to come back to your heart space and taking a few rounds of breath here,

The key to intentions is feeling grateful for what we have right now in this moment,

Cultivating a sense of abundance and fullness,

And over the next few breaths when your body feels ready,

Rolling onto your right side,

Keeping your eyes closed,

The energy inwards,

Hugging the knees into the body and giving yourself a nice big squeeze,

Marinating in any feelings of calmness or serenity you've cultivated,

And resting here for as long as you need to,

When you're ready,

No rush at all,

Making your way up to a seated position and gently opening the eyes,

A deep and a deep and heartfelt thank you to Uma Thuli Dinsmore who inspired this new moon nidra.

Namaste.
