Welcome to this calming practice dedicated especially to you as a pet parent,
Whether it is a cat,
A dog,
A rabbit,
A horse,
Or some other animal that lives in your heart.
My name is Biggie Junge.
I'm a dog trainer and behavior consultant,
As well as a coach for dog guardians.
Join me in this meditation to settle your nervous system and carry the good moments with your pet with you.
Find a comfortable position,
Sitting or standing,
However you feel supported,
And take a moment to notice your breath.
Observe it naturally,
No need to change anything yet.
Inhale softly,
And exhale slowly,
Allowing your body to soften,
Again.
Inhale,
And exhale,
Letting tension leave your body,
And do that a few more times at your own pace.
Think back all the time you have just shared with your pet.
The walk,
The play,
The cuddle,
Or simply sharing time together.
Notice any moments that felt calm,
Warm,
Or connected.
Each small moment counts.
Perhaps it was a glance,
A tail wag,
A gentle purr,
A relaxed paw,
Or leaning into you.
Now bring awareness to any tension that might still linger in your body.
Notice it without judgment.
Then,
With your next exhale,
Mentally return to the beautiful moment you've just shared with your pet,
And let the joy,
Love,
And gratitude wash the tension out of your body.
Let it feel like a soft,
Warm shower.
Tension leaving.
Love,
Joy,
And gratitude filling you.
Take another slow breath in,
And do a quick scan through your body.
Are there any areas of tension left?
If so,
Repeat the exercise.
Let the memory of that beautiful moment,
Shared with your animal,
Wash the tension out of your shoulders,
Arms and hands,
Your jaw and face.
Animals are very sensitive to the energy we carry.
By settling your own nervous system,
You're leaving a space of calm and safety for them,
As well as for yourself.
Now,
Take a moment to express a silent thank you for your pet.
Not words you need to say aloud,
Just a feeling.
For their companionship,
For their trust,
For the little moments that light up your days together.
Breathe in,
And exhale.
Let yourself notice the shared rhythm of present between you.
Even if the moment was brief,
Even if there were challenges,
You've just offered steadiness,
Attention,
And care.
Take one more breath in,
And a slow,
Long breath out.
And as you open your eyes or lift your gaze,
Carry this feeling with you.
A sense that the moments you share,
Calm or chaotic,
Have landed,
Have been felt,
And are enough.
Your pet is here.
You are here.
And together,
In this space,
There is quiet,
There is connection,
And there is presence.
And if you enjoyed this meditation,
There are many more like this in my teacher profile here on Inside Timer.
They are all designed specifically for pet parents like you,
So you and your pet can live the best possible life together.
Take good care of yourself,
And of your pet.
Bye for now.
