Hello friend,

And welcome to another guided brain vacation,

A journey of the senses.

These next few minutes are for you.

Find a comfortable position.

You can do this practice either sitting or lying down.

Take a nice deep breath in through your nose,

Expanding your lungs and sides of your ribcage.

As you exhale,

Soften any tension in your neck,

Your shoulders,

Your jaw.

Gently close your eyes and feel the support of the surface underneath you.

Now let's travel together to a beautiful lush meadow on a summer's evening.

Picture yourself here,

Standing in this meadow,

Surrounded by tall soft grasses and wildflowers.

Feel the dirt under your feet,

The ground solid but alive.

It's later in the day and everything is soaked in golden hour sunlight.

Notice the variety of blooms around you.

See the textures of the petals,

The grasses,

The leaves.

Can you identify any plants or flowers nearby?

Perhaps you see some lupines,

Asters,

Poppies,

Butterfly weed,

Or daisies.

Maybe you can see the long fingers of fescue or sedges swaying gently in the evening breeze.

Notice how the sun,

Low in the sky,

Lights up everything around you in a soft golden color.

Feel that warm summer evening sun on your face.

Breathe in the fresh air,

The subtle sense of cooling after a hot day.

What do you smell?

Can you smell the rich earth,

The scent of grasses and herbs,

Or certain flowers?

As you inhale this scent of nature,

This aliveness,

Let its energy spread through your body,

Soaking into your lungs,

Your bloodstream,

Filling up every cell of you.

Feel your body relax and soften.

Now maybe take off your shoes and sink your feet into the soil.

Notice the coolness here.

Now reach out your hand and run your fingers through the flowers and grasses,

Feeling the tickle against your skin.

Do you feel velvety petals,

Rough edges of grass,

Cottony plumes of seeds?

Now turn toward the sounds in this meadow,

This ecosystem brimming with life,

Alive with sounds.

Can you hear the different birds nearby,

The crickets and cicadas,

The fuzzy bumblebees as they dance flower to flower?

Take in this symphony,

And notice the sound of your own breath as it blends in with everything else.

Take a moment here,

Savoring the warm summer evening energy of this meadow.

See the colors of the sunset blooming in the sky.

Smile into the setting sun,

Feeling grounded,

Peaceful,

Connected.

Nothing to worry about,

Nothing to do.

Breathe in one more time,

Taking in the aliveness of this place,

The colors,

The smells,

The sounds.

Then when you feel ready,

Start to come back into the space around you.

Gently wingle your fingers and toes,

Feel the support of the surface beneath you,

Open your eyes,

And take this peaceful summer evening meadow with you through the rest of your day.

Thank you for joining me on this brain vacation.

Take care,

And I'll see you next time.

Another delightful brain vacation. 😊 These are even more special during stretches when I’m mostly housebound; thank you for them, Mel!
