Hey there,
Friend.
I want to share with you a quick practice that you could do after your workday ends.
It's something that I used to do when I worked in an office,
Where after I would drive home from work,
I'd pull in my driveway and I'd sit in my car for a few minutes just to re-center myself to reset the day and to check in with my feelings and how I'm doing.
So,
I call this a after-work five-minute check-in,
And it may seem rather simple,
But it's not something we're typically used to doing,
Checking in with ourselves while we're still moving from one part of our day to the next.
So,
It's just to kind of take a time out before you go on to the next phase of your day to connect with the various things that happen throughout your day and just see how you're feeling.
Because as we go about our day,
We're so in reaction mode,
Going from one thing to the next,
That it's easy to not fully acknowledge how we're feeling or how certain situations made us feel.
So,
If you're able to just settle yourself right now and position your body in a way that feels most natural and comforting to you,
And close your eyes,
Take a few intentional deep breaths to slow yourself down,
And just get into your body,
Feel inside yourself,
And notice where you are right now in space and time.
Our intuition,
Our higher self,
Our soul,
Speaks to us through feelings and emotions.
So,
You can simply ask yourself,
How am I feeling?
Maybe it was a hard day.
Maybe it was a fantastic day.
Or maybe it was just an ordinary day.
How are you feeling?
What is in your energy field?
What's lingering that you haven't really attended to,
But it's there,
And you know it's there?
So,
Just check in with your emotions.
What are they trying to communicate to you?
If they're unpleasant emotions or stuffy emotions,
Just know they're trying to communicate something to you.
They're just a signal that you're disconnected from a part of yourself.
It's just a reminder for something you need to pay attention to.
There's some lesson or insight there.
But just pay attention to how you feel.
You could also ask your heart if there's an emotion it wishes to express itself that may have been going unchecked for quite some time.
Is your heart full with some unresolved energy?
Or maybe your mind is consumed by something that keeps floating around in the background of your experience.
Gently allow it all to arise.
How are you feeling?
What are you feeling?
And just be with it.
I'm going to leave you here,
So just stay in this space and keep checking in with yourself.
Keep touching base with your emotions.
That's all there is to it.
You deserve it.
Thanks for trying this practice with me.
Hope to see you again.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
Much love.
