This is an invitation for a child to explore their feelings by comparing them to different types of weather. Just like the weather changes, their feelings will also change. It suggests that they do not have to hold on to negative feelings, and feelings will pass, just like a storm passing and the sun coming out again. Hi my little friend.

My name is Samantha and I'm so glad you could join me today.

Let's go on an adventure where you get to be a weather reporter.

For the report you will get to give me your personal weather report.

How fun does that sound?

I will give you some ideas.

If you are happy maybe that's kind of like a sunny day or if you're upset maybe you feel like a stormy ocean or thunderstorm or if you are grumpy maybe it is cloudy outside.

Let's explore your weather report together.

Now if you want close your eyes for a minute.

This will help you notice your weather better.

What are your feelings?

Do you have any big ones or small ones?

If you were telling me about the weather inside you what would you tell me?

It can be more than one.

Perhaps you are a little grumpy but happy at the same time.

You might still be sleepy but happy for your family or the meal you last had.

Our feelings change all the time so you might say your weather is cloudy but you can see the Sun behind the clouds.

Or if it's a really bad day you might say you need a raincoat or umbrella for now.

Feelings are like weather because they change.

Clouds float away and rain stops.

The weather doesn't stay the same way forever so you don't have to fight with it.

If you're having a bad feeling you can let it go after it is over and then move on like the clouds do.

The blue sky will come out again.

If you share your weather report out loud the person with you can try to help if it's not sunny.

For example if you tell them it's raining really hard they can bring you a raincoat or something to help you.

Or just be there with you comforting you on those bad days until the Sun comes out again.

Thank you for sharing your weather with me.

I really enjoyed it and I hope you did too.

Remember not all days are sunny but the Sun always comes out again.
