In this mediation you will be guided through a visualization practice to free your spirit! To allow your self to day dream and connect with the deepest parts of you and listen to your desires! "The soul does not yearn for what it cannot accomplish." Often daydreams are ideas, thoughts, and feelings that we feel are impossible or unattainable. In this practice you have the chance to feel into your body and observe the sensations that arise and meet them with the love and compassion! I hold the space for you to get curious and explore to allow you to let your spirit be free! I'm so glad you're here today.

I'm very excited about the topic of this meditation today.

It is a free your spirit visualization meditation.

So I wanted to talk about daydreaming.

Who doesn't daydream?

Somewhere,

Sometime during your day,

In your week,

Your mind drifts off to places that feel impossible or far away or someday.

I think we're always thinking about the perfect job or career or passion with our work,

The perfect partner,

The best social life,

The perfect house and overall just a wonderful dreamy life.

If only things could be.

We all have these daydreams.

They are mostly described as dreams that would not or could not ever come true.

In my life when I'm daydreaming I find myself in the middle of the daydream coming almost to the best part and then I stop because it starts to feel when it's too good.

That's when the impossibility sets in.

This is not possible.

This is not for me.

I'm too old.

I'm not pretty enough.

I'm not smart enough or whatever ego mind thing pops up that kind of talks you out of it.

We are so connected to our human experience and life on this planet that we forget we also have a spirit.

We have a soul.

It is the essence and the true nature that we were born with and it wants to be heard and it wants to be seen.

As we get older and grow up we are taught to believe that this is for our youth and I have found that this is simply not true.

And yet to allow ourselves to go where we need to free our spirit and listen to what they have to say is sometimes challenging.

In my life I have always been a dreamer and it definitely faded into the background during my adulthood.

I remember thinking when my children were born that reality had set in and I needed to be practical and realistic and so all those dreams got shoved down or back into a corner of my mind like the youth that I didn't have anymore.

It was time to grow up.

I feel like a lot of people feel this and some listen to the call and others just let it fade away.

But now I am here to share with you that I have reclaimed this part of myself and I did so with the support of my meditation practice.

I would like to share with you this visualization practice as a way to meditate,

Connect with your spirit,

Listen to its whispers and work to give it some freedom in your life.

This is a practice that we may have to do a little more often depending on our circumstance,

Our desire and our dreams.

And that's okay.

It is our time and space to take to guide us and to help us into our true knowing of what our spirit is telling us,

Is calling for,

What it wants to say.

And here in our meditation practice it is our job to listen.

So I invite you to settle into your space and get comfortable finding a position that feels good for your body in this moment.

Maybe that's sitting in a chair,

Maybe lying down,

Having your favorite blanket or pillow nearby,

Careful not to fall asleep,

But it is okay if you do.

Or maybe you even want to stand.

Find whatever feels good for you.

And like we often begin,

Taking a moment to step outside and become the observer of how our body is feeling in the posture that we've chosen.

Maybe making a few adjustments to get extra comfortable and settled in.

Bringing our awareness to the parts that could be tight or tense,

As well as the areas that are soft and relaxed.

Stepping into this space is about being present with what is here right now,

Without judgment,

Criticism,

Blame.

We're trying to make it be a certain way.

And we'll check in with our breath,

Noticing the rise and the fall of the heart space,

The rise and the fall of the belly.

How does it feel in this moment without changing it?

Feel the air as it moves through your nose or your mouth.

Before we go into our visualization,

I'm going to take you through a breath practice that is calming and relaxing to our nervous system.

It will allow your mind and body to begin to enter a deeper state of relaxation,

Of rest and digest.

And it is here that we can explore that deeper state and really go inward.

When your mind and body find stillness and quiet,

It is somewhat easier to access this deeper level of inner knowing.

I realize that it can be a struggle to get settled in here,

And that's okay too.

Give yourself love and grace and compassion.

And as long as you are fully present and breathing,

You are doing it right.

As we begin,

We will start by taking a deep cleansing breath in through the nose and releasing that breath slowly.

Breathe in through the nose,

Opening up the heart space,

Creating space here.

And exhale,

Letting something go.

We'll take one more deep breath in here together.

And exhale softly.

I'm going to guide you through a box breath breathing practice where we inhale for four,

Hold for four at the top,

Exhale for four,

And then pause at the bottom for four.

You'll do three rounds of this.

No need to worry about keeping time.

I will guide you.

So just follow my voice.

Let's begin.

Inhaling for 1,

2,

3,

4.

Hold for 2,

3,

4.

Exhale for 1,

2,

3,

4.

Retain the breath at the bottom for 2,

3,

4.

Again,

We'll inhale 1,

2,

3,

4.

Hold for 1,

2,

3,

4.

Release for 1,

2,

3,

4.

Retaining at the bottom for 2,

3,

4.

Last round,

We'll inhale for 1,

2,

3,

4.

Holding at the top for 1,

2,

3,

4.

Exhale,

Release 2,

3,

4.

And hold at the bottom 1,

2,

3,

And 4.

Take one more round of breath here.

Let your breath come back to its natural rhythm,

Feeling expansion and release.

Now we'll begin visualizing to free your spirit.

I want you to bring to your mind a daydream,

One that is familiar to you.

Something you may have thought of several times or just a few,

But you labeled it just as a daydream.

Something that you really think about,

But also maybe not quite possible in your daily life.

It can be anything.

As this daydream starts to form in your mind and come to life,

I want you to begin to notice the details.

Any colors that you see,

Textures that you can touch,

Sounds that you hear.

Allow yourself to access all your senses.

Sometimes images can be blurry or fuzzy,

But it's possible to tap into our other senses and different and surprising things might come up.

Allow yourself to daydream,

Continuing to pay attention to the details.

Observe your surroundings.

Notice the people,

The landscape.

The activities that are going on.

And then let's allow for some expansion here.

Let it be even more dreamy than the last time you were here.

If you feel resistance or coming to a stopping point,

Take a big breath in and a long breath out and continue in your daydream.

As you see yourself in this space,

Feel yourself in this space,

Hear yourself in this space.

Bring your attention to your heart center.

To make it even more beautiful or wonderful,

Allow yourself to tap in here and see what comes up.

Give yourself permission to free your spirit.

Be with whatever you see or hear or feel.

Be with it fully.

Feel into the openness.

Feel the expansion here.

Feel the liberation.

Feel the freedom.

Let it be whatever you desire.

Are there more details that you can add to your daydream?

Take a moment to notice how does it feel in your body?

Does it feel light,

Soft,

Peaceful?

Maybe playful,

Fun,

Exciting,

Or interesting.

Remember,

This is your daydream and it can be anything you want it to be.

Bringing your attention back to your heart space,

You may even bring one hand on top of the other.

Tap into that feeling of freeing your spirit.

Let it go and go.

Feel open.

Feel expanded.

Notice what's coming up for you.

What does that mean to you?

Maybe vulnerability.

Maybe a little risk.

Whatever it is,

It's exactly what you need to know now.

The more you see creativity,

The more imagination and possibility.

Release and support.

As you are opening this space,

I would like to offer you a mantra.

So quietly in your mind,

Just repeat this phrase a few times.

I am my own creator.

I am my own creator.

I am my own creator.

As you repeat these words,

Notice if anything changes.

In the daydream,

In the sensations in your body,

In your breath.

Just notice.

Stay here just for a few more moments.

Noticing and observing.

Maybe even taking a mental picture or making a mental note.

Feeling peace,

Tranquility or freedom.

Next,

I invite you to take a deep breath in and a long breath out.

Releasing your daydream just for now.

But not forgetting the sensations and the feelings that came up for you.

Inhale deeply through the nose.

And release completely at the nose or the mouth.

As you begin to come back into this space,

I would like to share a poem with you.

From Burr Green called The Invocation of Creativity.

May the work of my hands touch someone in need.

Helping the wounds,

Planting the seeds.

When my visions can help someone else see.

Give them strength for who they must be.

When my heart of compassion lets someone belong.

Spreading joy so they can write their own song.

When my ideas are generous and inspired.

Serving fuel and fire to all who are tired.

Only when my creativity truly be overflowing from forces greater than me.

Taking a few deep breaths here,

In and out.

Gently coming back to this space even more presently.

Feeling a little freer and a little lighter than before.

As you are ready and comfortable,

You can begin to open your eyes or lift your gaze.

I want you to know that in freeing your spirit you are connecting to the truest parts of your nature.

Giving them space to breathe and expand.

You can feel the energy forces that work inside of you supporting your greatest gifts from your daydream.

And allowing them space and time to come into your daily life.

Meditating in this way is one way to begin the process.

Going into this space like this can allow you to tap into the parts of your spirit that you may shut down for whatever reason.

Dreaming and visualizing in this way is just the first step in hearing the whispers of your soul.

Pay attention,

It could be a pleasant surprise.

As always I like to invite you to take a moment or two and journal about your experience.

Jotting down what came up for you,

What you strongly remember.

Expressing your thoughts and emotions and then checking in and seeing how they may apply to your life.

For me on a personal level,

Reconnecting with my spirit has afforded me opportunities that I literally only dreamed of.

From taking small tiny baby steps to giant leaps in making decisions.

As I continue to listen it guides me to where I need to be so that I can continue the daydream and not get stuck in the negative loops of my mind.

You can take this even a step further and listen to my dream bigger meditation here on insight timer.

It allows you to go even deeper,

Narrow your focus to make your dream a reality.

Thank you so much for meditating with me today.

It is truly a joy to share this practice with you and tickles my heart in thinking that you feel some sense of freeing impossibility and freeing your spirit.
