Welcome to Yoga Nidra for People Pleasers.
Rest without guilt.
My name is Sarah.
If you find this practice supportive,
You're warmly invited to follow me here on Inside Timer.
I share yoga nidra meditations designed to help calm the nervous system.
Soften the weight of everyday life.
And create space for deep rest,
Self-compassion,
And renewal.
This practice is an invitation to pause.
Especially if you've become accustomed to noticing what everyone else needs before they even ask.
Checking in.
Helping.
Remembering the details.
Anticipating what might make someone else more comfortable.
Or quietly making yourself responsible for keeping everything running smoothly.
Perhaps you've become very good at being there for others.
Answering the message.
Solving the problem.
Saying yes.
Smoothing things over.
Even when a part of you is tired.
Overwhelm.
Or simply wishing you could have a moment for yourself.
Maybe you've learned to put your own needs somewhere further down the list.
And perhaps sometimes,
Even rest can feel like something you need to earn.
I'll rest when everything is finished.
I'll take care of myself after everyone else is taken care of.
I should probably do one more thing first.
And yet,
There always seems to be one more thing.
Perhaps beneath all of that is a quieter belief.
That your worth comes from what you do.
How much you give.
Or how helpful you can be to the people around you.
But you are not valuable because you are productive.
You are not worthy because you are needed.
You are enough simply because you are.
You don't have to earn your right to rest.
Today's practice is an invitation to remember that you don't have to wait until everything is finished before you are allowed to rest.
Rest does not mean you care less.
Does not mean that you are selfish.
It simply means that for these next few moments,
You are allowed to care for yourself too.
You can receive without immediately giving something back.
You can pause without explaining why.
You can step away from what everyone else needs and simply be here.
Throughout this practice,
I'll gently guide you through breath awareness,
Body relaxation,
And a peaceful journey to a quiet sanctuary within a warm and comforting home.
A place that belongs entirely to you.
Place where you can close the door for a little while.
To softness.
And set down some of the expectations and responsibilities you've been carrying.
There may be a small basket waiting for you there.
Place to temporarily set down whatever you don't need to carry into this moment.
Nothing needs to be solved.
Nothing needs to be thrown away.
You can simply set it down and rest.
There is no way to do this practice wrong.
You don't need to quiet your thoughts or create a particular experience.
Simply become comfortable and allow yourself to be guided.
Let's begin with a slow breath in and a long,
Easy breath out.
Allow yourself to settle into a comfortable position now.
You may lie down,
Recline,
Or even remain seated if that feels most supportive for you today.
There is nowhere you need to be for these next few moments.
No one needs anything from you.
Nothing to answer.
Nothing to finish.
Nothing you need to take care of.
Take a slow breath in and a long,
Easy breath out.
Again,
Inhale.
And exhale.
Allowing your shoulders to soften.
Your jaw to unclench.
Your hands to relax.
Perhaps noticing what it feels like to not be responsible for anyone else for these next few moments.
The nervous system beginning to recognize.
There is nothing required of you right now.
Now we'll gently count our way towards stillness.
One,
Softening the whole body.
Two,
Letting go with the breath.
Breathe,
Allowing yourself to receive.
4.
Unwinding Release.
Five,
Resting in quiet ease.
There's nowhere to get to.
Nothing to achieve.
Nothing to prove.
Nothing you need to do to earn this moment of rest.
Only this moment,
Exactly as it is.
If at any point you would like an extra sense of comfort,
Imagine a place that feels calm,
Supportive,
And peaceful.
There is no need to build it in detail.
Simply sensing its atmosphere is enough.
Study.
Always available.
And before we continue,
Gently bring to mind a quiet intention.
Not something you need to force.
Simply a gentle direction for your heart.
Perhaps I am worthy of rest and release the guilt around resting.
Or another intention that feels supportive for you today.
Repeat it silently once.
And again.
Allowing it to settle softly within you.
Now allow your awareness to move slowly through the body.
Simply noticing each area as it is named.
There is nothing to change.
Nothing to fix.
Nothing to manage.
Simply noticing.
Become aware of the phase.
Ciao.
Perhaps allowing the teeth to separate ever so slightly.
Tongue.
Happening.
Cheeks.
Here.
Bye.
Resting gently back into their sleep.
Smoothie.
Scale.
A whole head.
Heavy.
Quiet.
At ease.
You Notice the neck.
Shoulders perhaps allowing the shoulders to soften.
Releasing the effort of being ready to respond.
Are.
Hair.
Home.
Fingers.
Hands that do so much.
Simply resting.
No one needs anything from them.
Become aware of the chest.
I'm space.
Pelly.
Easy.
Nothing to brace against.
Nothing to hold in.
Shoulder blades.
Between the shoulder blades.
Entire back.
Support it.
Notice the hip.
Legs.
Now become aware of the whole body together.
The whole body.
Nothing needing your attention.
Nothing asking for effort.
Simply resting.
Simply supporting it.
And perhaps noticing what it feels like to let yourself receive that support.
You don't have to hold yourself up in this moment.
You don't have to take care of anything.
The surface beneath you is already supporting you.
Allow yourself to soften into that support.
The whole body.
Rest day.
Receiving.
Pet used.
Bring awareness now to your natural breath.
An altered breath.
There is nothing to change.
Nothing to deepen.
Not the end of force.
Simply noticing the body breathing itself.
Feel the inhale arriving.
Feel the exhale gently leaving.
Receiving.
Releasing.
Receiving.
Releasing.
And perhaps begin to notice the quiet balance within the breath.
With every inhale the body receives.
And with every exhale,
The body gives back.
Neither asking more of you than the other.
A natural rhythm of receiving.
Really the same.
Receiving does not take anything away from the exhale.
And giving does not require the inhale to arrive empty.
Both belong.
Perhaps allowing that same balance to exist within you.
You may be someone who gives deeply.
Who cares deeply.
Who offers so much of yourself to the people around you.
And for these next few moments,
Perhaps you can practice receiving too.
Receiving the breath.
Receiving the support beneath you.
Receiving this moment of rest.
Nothing to repay.
I'm fainting.
As you inhale,
Silently hear,
Perceive.
And as you exhale,
Silently hear rest.
Inhale.
We're seeing.
Exhale.
Rest.
With each inhale,
Allowing yourself to receive.
With each exhale.
Giving yourself permission to rest.
Continue noticing your breath in this way on your own now.
Now become aware of the feeling of giving.
Giving your time.
Giving your attention.
Giving your energy.
Listening.
Help me.
Remembering.
Anticipating.
Being there for the people you care about.
Notice how this feels in your body.
Without judgment.
Without needing it to be different.
Simply noticing what it feels like to give.
And now,
Become aware of the opposite experience.
Receiving.
Allowing yourself to be supported.
To receive kindness.
To receive care.
To receive without immediately wondering what you can give in return.
Notice the feeling of receiving.
Perhaps the body softening.
The shoulders becoming heavy.
The breath moving freely.
The whole body settling into support.
Become aware of receiving.
Now slowly move between the two.
Giving.
And receiving.
And B.
Being available.
And resting.
Giving.
And receiving.
And notice what happens when you allow both experiences to exist together.
The part of you that loves to care for others.
And the part of you that needs care also.
The part of you that gives generously.
And the part of you that is learning to receive.
Nothing needing to disappear.
Nothing needing to be pushed away.
Simply remembering that both can belong.
And perhaps notice the difference between doing something that feels meaningful.
In believing,
You must always be doing something to have value.
You can pause the doing without losing your words.
You can rest without becoming less valuable you can simply be.
Without needing to prove that you deserve to be here.
You can care deeply.
And still have needs.
You can be generous and still receive.
You can love the people around you.
Without abandoning yourself in the process.
And perhaps noticing.
You don't have to earn rest by giving enough first.
You don't have to finish everything before you are allowed to pause.
For these next few moments.
Nothing is required of you.
No one needs an answer.
Nothing needs to be fixed.
No one to please.
Simply allow yourself to rest.
And receive the support that is already here.
Now you are going on a journey.
You may begin to see yourself from above.
Or perhaps from behind.
Standing in the quiet hallway of a warm and peaceful home.
The light is soft.
Gentle.
Inviting.
The home feels familiar.
Comforting.
Place where you can breathe a little more deeply.
You notice a doorway nearby.
A quiet room waiting just beyond it.
You slowly make your way towards the door.
There is nowhere you need to hurry.
No one is waiting for you.
Nothing is asking for your attention.
You reach the door and gently open it.
Inside is a beautiful private sanctuary.
A soft couch or comfortable chair invites you to rest.
A cozy blanket is waiting nearby.
Warm light fills the room.
Perhaps there are a few books.
Lands by the window.
Little things that make the space feel peaceful and welcoming.
Everything here seems to say you can stay a while.
You step inside and gently close the door behind you.
Not to shut anyone out.
Not because anyone has done anything wrong.
Simply because you are allowed to have a space that belongs to you.
A space where nothing is being asked of you.
You You look around the room and notice a small basket beside the door.
A simple basket.
Waiting for whatever you would like to set down.
Perhaps you place inside it a responsibility you've been carrying.
Something someone needs from you.
A message and have an answer.
An expectation you've been trying to meet.
Maybe the feeling that you should be doing more.
With a worry that someone might be disappointed in you.
One by one,
You can place these things into the basket.
You don't have to solve them.
You don't have to decide what happens next.
You're simply setting them down for now.
They will still be there if they truly need your attention later.
But they don't need you in this moment.
And as you look at the basket,
Perhaps you notice how much lighter you feel when you aren't carrying everything at once.
You turn towards the comfortable place waiting for you.
And slowly settle in.
Feeling the softness beneath you.
You the warmth of the blanket around you.
The support beneath your body.
Nothing you need to hold yourself up for.
Nothing you need to do.
You simply receive the support that is already here.
Perhaps you notice a window nearby.
You Beyond it,
The world continues.
Trees moving gently in the breeze.
Birds passing through the garden.
Clouds slowly moving across the sky.
Life continuing in its own quiet rhythm.
And you are not required to manage any of it.
You don't need to check on everyone.
You don't need to make sure everything is okay.
For these next few moments,
The world can continue without your constant attention.
And perhaps you notice something else.
Nothing is missing because you are resting.
You haven't become less valuable because you aren't doing anything.
You haven't stopped being caring because you stepped away.
You are simply here.
Receiving.
And perhaps this is what it feels like to remember.
You are not alone.
Even here in this moment.
Without accomplishing anything.
Without helping anyone.
Without giving anything more.
You are enough.
Simply because you are you.
You pull the blanket a little more comfortably around yourself.
Feel the warmth.
Fuel the support.
Feel the quiet.
And allow yourself to settle more deeply into this sanctuary.
A place just for you.
A place where you don't have to perform.
You don't have to please.
You don't have to prove or be anything.
You can simply be.
And perhaps you realize.
This room isn't somewhere you have to escape to forever.
It is simply a reminder.
That you can create moments of the same permission within your own life.
You can pause.
And close the door.
You can rest.
And you can return to yourself.
For a few moments now.
Simply rest here.
Feel the support beneath you.
The warmth around you.
Quiet beyond the window.
Nothing required.
Nothing to prove.
Nothing to earn.
Fully this breath.
Only this moment.
Only the quiet freedom of simply being.
You Return now to your quiet intention.
I am worthy of rest,
And I release the guilt around resting.
Repeat it once.
And again.
Allowing it to settle softly within you.
Perhaps allowing the intention to become less like something you need to believe.
And more like something you are simply beginning to remember.
You don't have to earn this rest.
You don't have to justify it.
You are worthy of rest simply because you are.
Allow this quiet intention to accompany you as you begin to return.
Slowly begin to return now.
The peaceful sanctuary remains behind you.
The soft light.
The comfortable place to rest.
The warmth of the blanket.
Quiet room.
And perhaps notice the basket beside the door.
Everything you place there can remain for now.
You don't need to pick it back up simply because you're leaving the room.
You can return to what truly needs your attention when the time is right.
And perhaps remember.
You are allowed to create space for yourself.
You are allowed to pause.
You are allowed to receive.
And you are still you when you are not doing anything for anyone else.
Bye.
And feel steady.
Present.
Supported.
Four,
Become aware of yourself as the witness.
The one who has observed gentle awareness.
Free.
Notice thoughts,
Sensations and sounds returning once again.
To notice your breath.
Allowing it to deepen slightly.
One,
Sense your whole body resting here.
Gradually becoming more awake and aware.
Begin inviting small movements back into the body.
Perhaps wiggling your fingers,
Moving your toes.
Rolling your shoulders gently maybe taking a comfortable stretch.
Take a fuller breath in.
And a slow breath out.
Notice how you feel.
Perhaps this sanctuary has reminded you of something today.
That you can care deeply for others without forgetting yourself.
That you can give generously.
And still receive.
That you can step away.
Without abandoning anyone.
And perhaps most importantly.
.
.
You don't have to do more to become more worthy.
You don't have to be more helpful.
More productive.
Or more needed.
You are enough.
Simply as you are.
Bring your hands to heart center.
Take one final breath in.
And out.
When it feels right,
Allow your eyes to slowly open to a soft gaze.
May you move through the rest of your day with a little more ease.
A little more permission to receive.
And the gentle reminder that rest is not something you have to earn.
You are worthy of rest.
You are worthy of care.
And you are enough.
Bow to yourself in appreciation for practicing today.
The light in me sees and honors the light in you.
Namaste.
