Welcome to Yoga Nidra for Deep Sleep,
A cozy,
Rainy cottage.
My name is Sarah.
If you find this practice supportive,
You're warmly invited to follow me here on InsideTimer.
I share yoga nidra meditations for deep rest,
Relaxation,
And reconnection.
Perhaps you're settling into bed after a long day,
Feeling tired,
But finding that your mind hasn't quite settled.
Or maybe you've awakened during the night and are hoping to drift back to sleep.
Whatever has brought you here,
This is an opportunity to slow down,
Become comfortable,
And allow yourself to rest.
Sometimes,
Even when our bodies are ready for sleep,
Our minds continue moving,
Revisiting conversations,
Thinking about tomorrow,
Or simply remaining more alert than we would like.
And the harder we try to fall asleep,
The more elusive it can sometimes feel.
But tonight,
There is nothing you need to force.
You don't have to quiet every thought or make yourself fall asleep.
You can simply allow your body to rest,
Trusting that sleep may arrive in its own time.
Throughout this practice,
I'll gently guide you through body awareness,
Breath,
And a peaceful journey to a cozy cottage where the rain falls softly outside,
And you can settle into the warmth and comfort within.
As we continue,
You're welcome to drift off whenever you are ready.
There is no need to remain awake or follow every word.
And if sleep hasn't arrived by the end,
That's okay too.
You can continue resting,
Listening to the gentle rain.
Without asking anything more of yourself.
For now,
Allow yourself to become comfortable.
Knowing that there is nowhere else you need to be and nothing more you need to do.
Let's begin with a slow breath in and a long,
Easy breath out.
Allow yourself to settle into a comfortable resting position now.
Or perhaps making any final adjustments to your pillow.
Drawing your blanket a little closer.
Finding a position where your body can feel completely supported.
Feel the softness beneath you.
The gentle weight of the blankets resting around you.
The places where your body meets the bed.
If you need to move or adjust at any point,
You are always welcome to do so.
For now,
There is nowhere else you need to be.
Nothing more you need to finish.
Nothing asking for your attention.
This time is yours to rest.
Take a slow,
Comfortable breath in.
And perhaps exhale with a gentle sigh.
Again,
Breathing in.
And slowly breathing out.
Allow your shoulders to soften.
Your jaw to relax.
Your hands to rest comfortably.
Perhaps noticing your body beginning to settle a little more deeply into the support beneath you.
Now we'll gently count our way towards rest.
Five,
Feel the weight of your body.
Supported beneath you.
Or allow your shoulders,
Arms,
And legs to become heavy.
Breathe.
Let your breath find its own easy rhythm.
To softening.
Settle in.
Resting.
One,
Your whole body supported.
Comfortable.
At ease.
There is nothing you need to make happen.
No particular feeling you need to create.
No need to wonder when sleep will arrive.
For now,
Simply allow yourself to rest.
Exactly as you are.
If at any point during this practice you would like an extra sense of comfort,
Imagine a place that feels peaceful,
Soothing,
And safe.
Perhaps somewhere familiar.
A favorite room.
A cozy bed.
Quiet place in nature.
Or simply a feeling of warmth and comfort.
There is no need to picture every detail.
Simply allow yourself to sense the comfort of this place.
Somewhere you can rest without interruption.
Where you feel supported,
Sheltered,
And at ease.
Know that you can return to this peaceful place at any time.
Simply remembering how it feels is enough.
And now,
Gently bring to mind a quiet intention for your practice tonight.
Perhaps something like,
I welcome rest.
Or I allow myself to soften.
Or simply,
I am at ease.
Choose whichever feels most supportive,
Or allow your own words to arise.
Repeat your intention silently to yourself.
And again.
Allowing the words to settle gently into awareness.
Without needing to make anything happen.
There is nothing you need to achieve tonight.
Only this quiet invitation to rest.
Now allow your awareness to move gently through your body.
Simply noticing each area as it is named.
There is nothing you need to move.
Nothing you need to change.
No effort required.
Only noticing.
Bring awareness to your face.
Good job.
Bye.
Lips.
Cheeks.
No.
Years.
Bye.
I lived forehead.
The space between your eyebrows.
Scalp.
The back of your head.
You Feel the whole head together.
Heavy.
Quiet.
Resting.
Notice your neck.
Back of your neck.
Your throat.
Both shoulders.
Make them aware of your arms.
Upper arms,
Elbows.
Forearms.
Rests.
Palms of the hand.
Backs of the hands.
Aww,
Love the finger.
Feel both arms and hands together.
Resting comfortably.
Support it.
Bring awareness to your chest.
The gentle movement of your breath.
Your heart center.
Rib.
Ellie.
Space around your waist.
Notice your shoulder blades between the shoulder blades.
Middle back.
Lower back.
The entire back.
Perhaps sensing the places where your back meets the surface beneath you.
Supported without needing to hold yourself up.
Become aware of your hips.
Bye.
Knees.
Have.
Shen.
Ankle.
Heal soles of the feet.
Tops of the feet.
All of the toes.
Feel both legs and feet together.
Heavy.
Comfortable.
At rest.
And now I'm aware of your whole body.
From the top of your head.
All the way to the tips of your toes.
Your hay.
Bye.
Corso.
Leg.
Feet.
The entire body resting together.
Notice the surface beneath you.
Quietly supporting the weight of your body.
Perhaps allowing yourself to settle a little more deeply into that support.
Without needing to do anything at all.
There is no need to hold yourself in place.
No need to make any part of your body feel a certain way.
Simply resting.
One.
Comfortable.
Support it.
And if your mind has wandered,
That's okay.
You can gently return to the feeling of your body resting here.
Up in more to follow.
Nothing more to accomplish.
For now,
Your whole body can simply rest.
Bring awareness now to your natural breath.
Nothing to change.
Nothing to deepen.
Nothing to control.
Simply noticing the body breathing itself.
Feel the inhale arriving.
Feel the exhale leaving.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Perhaps noticing the gentle rise and fall of your chest.
Or the soft movement of your belly.
As each breath arrives naturally.
And leaves in its own time.
There is nothing you need to do to bring the next breath.
Your body already knows how to breathe.
Even as you begin to drift towards sleep.
Now,
If it feels comfortable.
As you inhale,
Silently hear the word,
Receive.
And as you exhale,
In your mind,
Hear the word rest.
Inhale.
.
.
Perceive.
.
.
Exhale,
Rest.
Receiving the breath as it arrives.
Allowing yourself to rest as it leaves.
There is no need to match your breathing to the words.
Simply allowing them to follow your own natural rhythm.
Receive.
Breaths.
Perhaps with each exhale,
You notice yourself settling a little more deeply into the comfort beneath you.
And if the words begin to fade,
You can let them go.
Your breath will continue naturally.
Effortlessly.
Whether you're listening closely or beginning to drift.
Continue resting with your breath now.
In your own gentle rhythm.
And now,
Gently become aware of the feeling of wakefulness.
A familiar experience of being alert.
Attentive.
Engage with the world around you.
Perhaps noticing how wakefulness feels within your body.
Without needing to change anything.
Simply noticing.
And now,
Become aware of the feeling of rest.
Comfort of lying down.
The softness beneath you.
The gentle heaviness of your body.
Nothing requiring your attention.
Notice how rest feels within your body.
Perhaps a sense of warmth.
It's gone now.
Or you.
And now gently move between these two experiences.
Wakefulness and rest.
Alertness and stillness.
Being active and being supported.
And perhaps notice that you don't need to make wakefulness disappear.
Or create a particular feeling of sleepiness.
You can simply rest here.
Allowing your body and mind to settle in their own time.
You Now you are going on a journey.
You may begin to see yourself from above or perhaps from behind arriving in a small welcoming cottage nestled among the trees on a quiet rainy evening.
You've reserved this peaceful little cottage for the night.
A cozy retreat where you can enjoy the gentle rain.
And settle into a restful evening with nowhere else you need to be.
The sky is a soft shade of gray.
And a gentle rain is falling.
Creating a peaceful rhythm as it moves through the branches and settles onto the earth below.
Warm light glows from the cottage windows.
Welcoming you into the comfort waiting inside.
You follow the short pathway towards the front door.
Listening to the rain falling softly around you.
Perhaps noticing the fresh scent of damp earth.
The gentle rustling of leaves.
The quiet beauty of an evening when the world seems to be slowing down.
As you reach the sheltered doorway,
You pause for a moment.
Listening to the soft patter of rain against the roof above you.
A small key has been left for your arrival.
And you gently unlock the door.
Stepping inside the cottage that is yours to enjoy for the night.
Immediately,
You notice the gentle warmth of the cottage.
A welcome contrast to the cool rainy evening outside.
Everything has been thoughtfully prepared for your stay.
A soft lamp glowing nearby.
A comfortable chair beside the window.
A folded blanket resting across its back.
You close the door behind you.
Knowing this peaceful little space is yours for the evening.
And you listen.
Rain continues falling outside.
A soft steady tapping against the window.
A gentle patter along the roof.
Quiet rhythm surrounding this warm and sheltered space.
There is something comforting about being inside while the rain falls beyond the windows.
Knowing you can simply enjoy its sound.
Without needing to go anywhere or do anything.
And perhaps you begin to notice how sleepy and inviting this little cottage feels.
And now,
As you begin to feel ready to settle in for the night,
You notice the cozy sleeping area that has been prepared for your stay.
Perhaps you take a moment to change into something soft and comfortable.
Whatever helps you feel ready for a peaceful night's sleep.
A comfortable bed awaits.
With soft pillows.
Fresh linens.
And a warm blanket folded across the end.
You make your way towards the bed.
Perhaps turning down the covers.
Adjusting the pillows.
And settling into a position that feels just right for you.
Feel the softness of the mattress beneath you.
The gentle support of the pillows.
Comforting weight of the blankets resting over your body.
Perhaps you draw the covers a little closer.
Allowing yourself to feel warm.
Sheltered.
And completely comfortable.
The soft light from the lamp fills the room with a gentle glow.
While beyond the window,
The rain continues to fall.
You listen for a little while.
Quiet tapping against the glass.
The gentle rhythm of rain falling onto the roof.
The occasional trickle of water traveling down the window.
All of these familiar sounds blending together.
Creating a peaceful background to your rest.
And perhaps you begin to notice how little is required of you here.
You don't need to watch the rain.
Or follow the movement of each droplet.
You don't need to wonder when it will stop.
The rain can simply continue falling.
And you can simply continue resting.
Feel the weight of your head resting against the pillow.
And shoulders settling into the mattress.
Your arms resting comfortably at your sides.
Your legs becoming heavy beneath the blankets.
Perhaps your body begins to feel a little warmer.
A little heavier.
A little more subtle.
And if some part of you remains awake,
That's perfectly okay.
There is no need to hurry towards sleep.
Your need to make yourself feel any particular way.
You can simply enjoy the comfort of this moment.
The softness beneath you.
The warmth surrounding you.
And the gentle rain outside.
Beyond the cottage windows,
The trees sway softly in the evening breeze.
Their leaves glistening with tiny droplets of rain.
You The sky has begun to grow a little darker.
The warm glow of the cottage feels even more comforting against the quiet evening beyond.
But you don't need to look outside anymore.
Perhaps you allow your eyes to close.
Letting the sound of the rain become a little more familiar.
A soft patter against the roof.
A gentle tapping against the window.
A steady rhythm that continues without needing your attention.
And perhaps your breath begins to blend with this peaceful rhythm.
Arriving naturally.
Leaving naturally Inhale.
Receive.
Exhale,
Rest.
Another breath arriving.
And gently leaving.
Perceive.
Breaths.
There is nowhere else you need to go tonight.
Nothing more you need to discover within this cottage.
Everything you need for this moment is already here.
Comfortable place to rest.
Warm blankets.
A soft pillow.
And the gentle sound of rain continuing outside.
Perhaps you begin to feel as though this cottage has become a familiar place.
I'm where you can return whenever you wish to rest.
And for now,
You are already here.
Resting comfortably.
Born.
Support it.
At you.
The rain continues its quiet rhythm.
And your body continues to rest.
You don't need to listen closely anymore You don't need to remember every word.
My voice can simply become another gentle sound.
Blending with the rain.
As you settle a little more deeply into the comfort of this peaceful place.
Outside.
The rain continues to fall.
Inside.
The cottage is warm and quiet.
And you resting beneath the blankets.
And simply allow the evening to unfold.
Nothing more to do.
Nowhere else to be.
Only the soft,
Comfortable place.
The gentle rain.
And the quiet invitation to sleep.
Now gently return to your quiet intention you set at the beginning.
Perhaps I welcome rest.
Repeat these words silently to yourself.
Return to whichever words you chose.
And again.
Allow your intention to settle softly within you.
Without needing to hold on to it.
There's nothing more you need to do.
Nothing you need to make happen.
Simply resting.
Warm.
Comfortable.
Support it.
As the gentle rain continues falling outside.
And now.
There is nothing more you need to follow.
Nothing more you need to imagine.
You can simply remain here.
Resting comfortably in your cozy cottage.
Warm beneath the blankets.
Your head resting softly against the pillow.
Outside.
The gentle rain continues to fall.
A soft steady rhythm against the window.
Quiet patter along the roof.
Perhaps the sounds begin to blend together.
Becoming a familiar background to your rest.
You don't need to listen closely.
Or follow each word.
We can simply allow the sounds to come and go.
As your body continues to rest.
Feel the softness beneath you.
The warmth surrounding you.
Comforting weight of the blankets.
Perhaps your thoughts begin to drift.
Becoming quieter.
Was to stink.
And if thoughts continue to come and go,
That's okay too.
There is nothing you need to quiet.
Nothing you need to make happen.
The rain continues falling.
Whether you're listening.
Or beginning to dream.
Perhaps you can imagine the warm glow of the cottage lamp growing softer.
The room becoming a little darker A little quieter Everything is peaceful.
Everything is still.
And you can simply remain here.
Rest day.
Drifty.
Allowing sleep to arrive whenever it is ready.
The cottage is warm.
Blankets are soft.
Rain continues its gentle rhythm outside.
There is nowhere else you need to be.
Nothing more to follow.
Nothing more to do.
The gentle rain.
Resting heavy.
Relax.
At ease.
Rest well.
