Engaging in morning meditation sets a really positive tone for the rest of your day,
Laying a foundation for a more balanced,
Focused and fulfilling experience.
Personally,
I found the most beneficial morning meditation involves allowing my mind to rest,
Connecting to my body and encouraging the feeling of my innate inner joy to shine.
This practice significantly reduces stress,
Promotes a deeper sense of inner peace and ignites inspiration for my day ahead.
It's also an opportunity to set a positive intention for my day,
Fostering a mindset of purpose and direction.
So when you're ready,
Find yourself somewhere comfortable to sit.
It's really helpful to sit with your back straight and tall and fresh air coming into your lungs.
But don't be too rigid,
Allow a sense of movement and softness within your body.
In this meditation,
I'll give you some guidance and then I'll use spaces of silence.
In these spaces of silence,
Really use this time to drop into your own experience and feel what is happening for you.
Once you're comfortable,
Start by bringing your awareness to the feelings and sensations of your breath within your body,
The feelings and sensations of the air coming in and out of your nostrils,
The feelings and sensations of your lungs,
Ribs and abdomen rising and falling with each in-breath and each out-breath.
Really be inquisitive of the feelings and sensations within your body as you breathe.
And whatever you feel,
Allow it to be there.
Allow it's space to be as it needs to be,
Without judgment,
Without creating stories around it,
Without trying to stop it.
Just let it be and allow your awareness to rest on feelings and sensations within your body as you breathe.
Now shift your awareness slightly,
Become aware of your out-breath as a resting and settling breath.
Really follow each out-breath down into your body,
Allowing your body to relax deeply into the ground.
Notice the feelings and sensations of the ground or cushion pushing up from below.
You supporting you as you relax.
Allow yourself to trust that ground and really allow your whole body to let go and deeply relax down into that sense of ground.
As you keep relaxing into that sense of ground,
Notice any feelings and sensations within your body.
What do you notice within the trunk of your body?
Maybe the feelings and sensations of the weight of your legs,
The feelings and sensations in your arms,
Your neck and your head.
Just notice any feelings and sensations within your whole body and hold your space with a sense of love and compassion and whatever you feel,
Allow it to be there as it is.
Notice if you feel any holding or contraction within your body,
Maybe in your neck,
Shoulders and if you notice any holding or contraction anywhere in your body,
Gently allow it to soften,
Release,
Let go and relax again.
As you rest within feelings and sensations within your body,
Relaxing deeply into your sense of ground,
You may become aware of a subtle feeling of joy somewhere there in your being.
Might not be obvious,
Might just be a pleasant feeling or a subtle feeling of feeling nourished.
If you notice this,
Allow that feeling space to grow and to shine through as much as it wants to and allow this connection to joy to fill your heart and radiate out into your body and take this moment to set yourself an intention for your day.
It can be anything that is important for you for today,
Something that you aspire to or want to accomplish or feel and within your heart and within your whole body,
Really feel as if you've already accomplished your intention and allow that feeling of accomplishment of your personal intention to really radiate out and fill your whole being.
As we bring this meditation to a close,
Allow that feeling to stay with you as you go out into your day.
At any point in your day,
If you need it,
You can reconnect to that feeling and allow it to grow and radiate out,
Encouraging the sense of groundedness,
Joy,
Inspiration and motivation,
Ready to take on the world.
