Welcome.
I'm Laura Patrick,
Licensed specialist,
Clinical social worker.
Find a comfortable position and allow your body to settle.
Take a slow breath in through your nose.
And gently breathe out.
Again,
Breathe in slowly.
And release.
Imagine yourself walking along a quiet path carrying a backpack.
With every step,
Notice its weight against your shoulders.
Inside are things you've blamed yourself for.
Things you wish you'd said.
Things you wish you hadn't said.
Decisions you question.
Moments you've replayed.
Things you believe you should have prevented.
Find a peaceful place to rest.
Slowly remove the backpack and place it on the ground.
Notice what your body feels like without its weight.
Recognize I've been carrying a lot.
Some things inside may genuinely belong to you.
Lessons.
Apologies.
Choices you want to make differently.
Those things can stay as wisdom.
But shame doesn't have to come with them.
Imagine removing a stone labeled,
I should have known.
Put it down.
Another says,
It's all my fault.
Put it down.
Another says,
I don't deserve forgiveness.
Let that one go too.
Replace those stones with something lighter.
Compassion.
Understanding.
Growth.
Wisdom.
Put the backpack on again.
And notice the difference.
You are still carrying your experiences.
But you don't have to carry them as punishment.
With each step repeat.
I carry the lesson.
I release the punishment.
I carry the wisdom.
I release the shame.
Return your attention to the present.
You can remember where you've been.
Without carrying every stone you found there.
