Hi,
I'm Laura.
I'm a licensed clinical social worker and today I'm going to guide you through a short meditation to help you slow down.
Reconnect with yourself and give your mind and body a few moments of calm Find a comfortable position.
You can sit,
Lie down,
Or simply allow yourself to be still wherever you are.
If it feels comfortable,
Close your eyes or simply soften your gaze.
Take a slow breath in.
And gently breathe out.
Again,
Slowly breathe in.
Notice the air entering your body.
And slowly let it go.
You don't need to change anything right now.
You don't need to solve anything.
For these next few minutes,
You can simply be here.
Notice where your body is supported.
Notice the chair beneath you.
Bed beneath you.
Or the floor underneath your feet.
Let yourself feel that support.
You don't have to hold everything up right now.
Bring your attention to your shoulders.
If you're holding tension there.
See if you can let your shoulders drop just a little.
Relax your jaw.
Soften the muscles around your eyes.
Unclench your hands.
Take another slow,
Deep breath in.
And breathe out.
Thoughts may come into your mind.
That's okay.
You don't have to fight them.
You don't have to follow them.
Imagine each thought passing by.
And gently bring your attention back to your breathing.
Right now,
You are here.
Not yesterday.
Not tomorrow.
Just this moment.
Notice three things your body can feel right now.
Maybe the temperature of the air.
Your clothing against your skin or your feet touching the floor.
And quietly remind yourself.
I can slow down.
I don't have to figure everything out right now.
I can take things one moment at a time.
Take one more slow,
Comfortable breath in.
And as you breathe out,
Imagine releasing just a little of what you've been carrying.
You don't have to release all of it.
Just a little.
Begin bringing your attention back to the room.
Notice the sounds around you.
Feel the surface beneath you.
Gently move your fingers.
Move your toes.
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
Take this sense of calm with you as you continue your day.
And remember.
You don't have to handle the whole day at once.
You only have to meet the moment you're in.
Thank you for spending these few minutes with me.
